Judge hits out at soccer bans trial

A JUDGE has criticised police over moves to ban alleged football hooligans from travelling to Euro 2004 in Portugal.

District judge Paul Firth asked why it had taken police five months to bring the matter to court and why the prosecution then expected the defence to be ready to conduct trials in just three weeks.

He didnt criticise the police for bringing the banning orders against the idiots, just the way that they had done it.

    I totally understand that

  3. i wouldnt believe everything you read in the press mate.  There is no way in this world that we have £5 mill available to combat football hooligans in blackburn!

The Goverment have funded Lancashire Constabulary the £5Million to get rid of football hooligans before the European Championships, which didnt happen

    where did you read this?

    The lancashire Evening Telegraph

    The Times

    Citizen

  5. Are these not the result of the trouble in the Postal Order after the ManU game last season?

These banning order are largely pointless, they banned a load of PNE hooligans but even the Evening Post noted the fact that these lads didn't go on the games just drank in the nearby pubs and then waited for the away fans. The court banned them from the ground but not the surrounding area so they could carry on doing exactly the same as before.

That is a very good point. Surely you are going to get more of these people consuming a LOT more alchohol in and around the town centre, or even around the train station which is very daangerous. I think its more risky to ban these people, at least you know where they are if they are in the ground.

  6. i remember BNP literature being handed out outside the old blackburn end, 13-15 years ago.

as far as i know Blackburn Youth were Mill Hill based gang that expired in the late 80's

most proper hooligans don't tend to bother going to the games any more- they jsut meet up and scrap outside, so what good it'll do stopping them getting in i don't know.

    EXACTLY WASTE OF MONEY.

  7. Are these "Blackburn Hooligans" the very same Blackburn Youth who are just a bunch of idiotic little children running about in burberry romper suits trying to cause trouble?

Wasn't there a web site set up by them a while ago which was nothing but racial rubbish and associated to Rovers merely by the fact that they went to few games?

Maybe but what trouble have they caused. I have not seen this web site myself, but £5million is a bit extreme to ban little kids running around in burberry romper suits isn't it.

  8. The so called blackburn hooligans are at Blackburn Magistrates Court tommorow to contest the banning orders bestowed upon them. I just cant believe that there is such a thing as a Blackburn hooligans cult in or around Ewood Park on matchdays. Just think how much this is costing me and you in taxes, apparentley Lancashire constabulary had been given £5 million to stop Blackburn Rovers Hooligans from going to Portugal in the summer of 2004, and yet they they failed to do that, and they still have the nerve to go through with the banning orders just as a matter of principle from what i can gather. What good can come out of this, 15 people banned from going to ewood park, which will costs £5 Million and to top it off it the policeman who is pursuing these banning orders was in court himself earlier in the year, and was accused of being a racist. is it really worth it £5MILLION to ban 15 people i dont think so DO YOU.

Has anybody else come accross or seen violence in or around ewood park on a matchday, i certainly have not.
