  1. Spent the saturday night at my girlfriend's house(now the wife).

When I finally surfaced on the Sunday, i realised I had less than an hour to get home, changed and to the ground. Rang a taxi, arrived home to find my brother and mates waiting for me.

Anyway, got to the game just on time, and what a day it was. I had booked the monday off work too, so it was straight to the pub afterwards for a super sunday.

Oh, those were the days........ rolleyes.gif

I think my 4 yr old son may have been conceived that weekend too. wink.gif

  2. Having a no smoking area in a pub is like having a no pissing area in a swimming pool.

    Pointless.

Back to the original point, do we think that Rovers will allow supporters the opportunity to go out of the ground or into an isolated area for a quick smoke.

If not, this will affect attendances in my opinion, especially when the game is on SKY.

  3. FFS people moaning bout not being able to have a fag for a couple of hours & maybe having a smoking section! It is TWO HOURS! Why should other people have to breath in your cigarette fumes??

Your missing the point Jamie, what I want is the opportunity to go and have a fag somewhere, where it wont affect the non-smokers.

I am hoping to have given up smoking by then anyway, but people who do smoke should have a right to do it, even if it means setting up an area outside the ground.

  4. Visiting Toronto this week and went to a Raptors game at the Air Canada Centre. What they do is have an outside area that is cordoned off for smokers to go out and grab a smoke, but still not be easy for people to use sneak in without tickets.

That was something I was thinking of, otherwise your going to get people smoking where they shouldn't be, like it was at the wigan away game.

  5. Now as a smoker, I dont mind not smoking during the match, but I would like the opportunity to have a ciggie at half time.

For a smoker, the thought of not being able to have a fag for 2+ hrs is quite off putting.

I imagine if a game is being shown on Sky, there'll be more of an incentive to watch the game on the box.

Could the club not arrange a smoking area, maybe in the corner of the stands, away from the seats and the concourse?

  6. Due to various reasons, I've not had a season ticket for the last 2 years, but some of my friends have kept theirs in the Darwen End. I'm thinking of getting one again, plus an extra one for my 4 yr old son.

But there may be some problems:

1 There will be no season tickets sold in the Darwen End.

2 There will be 6 people renewing, and 2 new applicants.

3 The 6 renewing will get a preference of where they want to sit, especially if they opt for the £250 seats in the JW lower.

Lee, if people dont renew there season tickets by the end of April, are their seats then open for new applicants? Or do we have to wait till another cut off date.

The lady in the ticket office implied that the £250 seats would be sold very quickly.

  7. We should double the prices of pies in the Darwen end as petty retribution biggrin.gif

And lets open one of the tiny betting kiosks as the only food outlet, and not sell any beer, and constantly run out of pies.

    Honestly, I'm not bitter.............. mad.gif

Anyway, a scrappy 3-2 win to the rovers, Bellamy x2 and Gray.

  8. Just phoned AOL to request my MAC code, and what a nightmare.

I end up on the phone to a call center in India, to a women who struggles to speak and understand English.

First of all, I had to read my phone number to her 5 times before she managed to enter the right one, I suppose she could have been numircally dislexic. huh.gif

Then I requested my MAC code. (I only had to repeat this once)

She then proceeded to ask me why I wanted to switch ISPs.

After giving her my 2 main reasons, price and speed, she then asked me if there was any other reason.

    I said no.

She then asked who I was switching to, I told her I hadn't decided.

She then wanted to know what prices and speeds they were offering, I told her to check the friggin internet.

I was getting quite irate by this stage, and asked her to stop asking me questions, and give me my MAC code.

She then asked me if there were any other reasons why I wanted to leave AOL.

    I said no.

She then started harping on about all the services that AOL offer. By this stage I was at boiling point.

She then suggested it would be better if I called back later in the month for my MAC code, cant remember her reason for this.

Finally, she asked me again, "are there any other reasons why you want to leave AOL?"

"Your crap call center" was my reply. mad.gif

It will take 2 days for my MAC code to come through, then its good ridance to AOL. thumbs-up.gif

  9. Andy Todd is starting to worry me. He's making regular mistakes now in successive matches. In the 4-3 win over Man United, he was certainly at fault for one of the Van Nistelrooy goals. Against West Brom he was caught out of position with Kevin Campbell's header and he had a poor game against Everton yesterday. James Beattie had acres of space to direct his header into the net. To get caught out from a simple set-piece like that is hugely disappointing.

I think it was Neill who started to mark Beattie, but just seemed to let him go when he made his run.

  10. My 12 months is up for renewal soon with AOL, and I'm considering switching providers, not that I've had any bad experiences / poor service. Just looking for the best deal, and I dont download too much at the moment.

Can anyone recommend a broadband ISP?

Has anyone switched before? is it simple?

    359372[/snapback]

Still looking to switch ISP's, anyone got any good recommendations?

  11. Restricted view for me too, my mate has bought them today, so not sure what row we are on.

From previous experiences of Goodison, the restricted view seats are crap, you've got a pillar or two in the way, plus if your on the bottom tier, you cant see the ball if it is kicked higher than 10ft in the air.

Anyway, i'll go for a sneaky 2-0 win to us, not wanting to tempt fate. huh.gif

Any suggestions for pubs to meet in before the game?
