  1. in this very media led world, we're often seen as such a tiny club & one of the big reasons must be that the camera's point to the riverside.

surely it wouldn't take much cash at all, to relocate the camera's to the riverside. The difference in how our club is 'perceived' could be enormous.

  2. I think we have already known that he won't sign the contract for us a long long time ago. Only Hughes didn't know (or he did not want to know). It is old news already. In my heart the transfer has already happened... So let us talk about who will replace Neill?

If we sold Neill two months ago then we will have 2M. If we sold him in Jan 07 then we will get 1M atmost...

we don't know what the offer from liverpool was. the press may have speculated - but we don't know that 2 mill was on the table.

all we do know - is that the offer of warnock + cash was rejected by liverpool.

  3. He's playing well, so I'd be inclined to keep him in the side (so that we get a fee for him in Jan, or better still swap hyim for Warnock) but I'd now definitely take the captaincy away from him. It's the highest honour you can have to captain your club or country and he's basically saying he's not bothered about it.

Swap him for Warnock and everyone is happy!

Meanwhile he's doing an awesome job on the pitch. Mark Hughes, Mark Bowen and co and his teammates think he's a damn good choice for captain. Until they decide any different, that's good enough for me.

If lucas neil had made it very plain to the management and players that he is definiely leaving, yet was still given the captaincy - I wouold have to respect MH's judgement.

We will now find out whether he was totally honest with MH. If not, I bet you a tenner Tris that he won't be captain for the next match!

  4. Just one more word about being onside if you are behind the ball.

    Wikipedia

"A player is in an offside position if "he is nearer to his opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second to last opponent," unless he is in his own half of the field of play. A player level with the second to last opponent is not in an offside position. Note that the last two opposing players can be either the goalkeeper and an outfield player, or two outfield players.

In general, what this means is that either the attacking team should ensure the opposing team having at least two players (of which the opposition's goalkeeper is included) in between the goal line and the nearest player of the attacking team, or all players of the attacking team should be behind the ball such that it remains closer to the goal line than any of the player of the attacking team."

just because its in wikipedia, doesn't mean it's correct!!

try quoting the FA rule book!

  5. You describe just short of 18000 keen supporters as pathetic? You obviously wern't there so whats your adjective for the ones including yourself who didn't go then?

btw if you need any help I've a few in mind.

come on fella - best way is just to ignore - you know he only says it so that someone will bite!

On an unrelated note - when does the rovers site update it's video match highlights?

  6. I'd hardly describe thinking he is rubbish after three woeful seasons of performances as being "hysteria". There is plenty of knee-jerk reaction on here but Brett is only now beginning to show the form we expected when we bough him...in 2003!

I also wouldn't call it 3 woeful seasons. I think it's more to do with people expecting him to be chritiano ronaldo beating his man everytime. Fact is, he ended up as our leading goal assister in each season.

He was overhyped when he came, which led people to believe he was a different type of player than he actually is.

  7. Because he's miles past his "best" if that's what you can call it.

What an awful signing. Never rated him, was part of one of our worst ever central defensive partnerships when he was here and helped get us relegated.

Was carried for many seasons by the majestic Hypia at Liverpool and then as his form deteriorated even further was farmed out to Wigan and it seems now even they didn't want him.

I'd rather keep Matteo and that's saying something. Hope to god Todd and Zurab stay fit otherwise it's Championship here we come with Henchoz and our untested Dutchman at the back, 64 years young.

What a farce after finishing 6th last year.

don't hold back! tell us what you really think!

we don't exactly have a lot of choice. we can only sign players who are out of contract. and we didnt know the extent of admirals injury before the end of the transfer deadline - otherwise I'm sure we would have had someone else...

i don't see that hughes had a great deal of choice.

  8. Rover6, do you spout tripe on purpose to get a rise or do you really believe the rubbish you write?

I think he's got a perfectly valid point.

I wouldn't be offering him a new deal, as he didn't show anything in games to suggest he was a top6 midfielder. In an ideal world, we'd have 2 players competing for every position. That would only be 22 players and our squad i bigger than that!

  9. Kuqi gives 100% and aslong as he does that then i am happy for him to play for us. If he gives everything then he will always be another option for us.

Remeber 1 important thing. Mark Hughes was a striker of the top class and he will know better than anyone who the right type of strikers are to sign. Therefore i predict our strikeforce will be a big hit next season

    ashley ward always gave 100%

  10. resulting to insults shows you've got no comeback.

my judgement on strikers ? alright then.... give me examples.

apologies if you felt that was an insult. just a bit of fun that's all!

in anycase - 'idiotic comment' - did you not hurl the first insult?!

as for no comeback - we disagree thats all! i've never rated Kuqi and never will. You obviosuly do and I'm hardly going to change your mind. So might as well just leave it be!

  11. does anyone have any videos of him scoring goals?

How can you say that McCarthy and Roberts are terrible? That just blows my mind!

And Kuqi was not terrible! He got some very important goals last year after signing on a free - absolutely a good "buy."

sorry - mistake with the keyboard!! I'm saying we need to wait and see how they turn out. I'm lookign forwrad to seeing them play as much as everyone else!

I could have scored the goals that Kuqi did last year!

  12. why so optamistic ?

people should have more faith in MH. his record as rovers manager demands that.

MH bought kuqi and there is no way you will ever convince me he is worthy of a place in a side challenging for Europe.

Granted - we had no cash and so MH had to take a punt on him, but his record signing forwards isn't proven yet!

    Bellamy - great buy

    Kuki - terrible

    mccarthy - time will tell

    jeffers - ditto

    roberts - ditto

i'd rather we kept gallagher, loaned out derbyshire and sold kuqi to go along with the 3 new boys.

but Dickov was starting to get right on my t*ts last season....his constant diving and subsequent moaning while play was going on around him

    totally agree with that.

Great thing about dickov leaving, is that hopefully our relationship with the referee's will be better now.

One thing Big Sam did a couple of years ago, which i thought was genius, was to invite some of the refs to train with the team, so that they could help the team to interpret the new laws being introduced.

What it most probably did, was allow some of the players to get to know the refs and vice versa. I bet some 50-50 decisions would surely then have gone in their favour in the future!

  13. Yes, but Reid wasn't the player he is now, Emerton didn't (big error there!) deliver the goods often enough and Ferguson was a big baby. If these two can form a good partnership than that is better than just having Bellamy up there. Don't underestimate the skills of Benni, while Roberts showed last year that he can cause anyone trouble. If we can also add another striker as well as some other things I would be very pleased. We can also now play balls into the box and someone just might be able to head it!

Bellamy could create goals and chances from out of nothing. To be perfectly honest, I don't know enough about roberts or mccarthy to totaly judge yet. Is roberts another dickov type player? one that will run all day and try and out-muscle opposition, os is he something a little classier? Same goes for McCarthy - I hope he's lightening quick, with a great first touch, an eye for goal and a good header of the ball, but time will tell!

I will, as always fully get behind whoever is wearing the blue and white, but lets just wait and see how good these 2 are together.

Who do we play pre season at ewood?

  14. I don't think anyone underestimates the effects of the loss of Bellamy, AndyC.

But what would you have us (including Hughes) do? We have to deal with what has happened and who we can afford to bring in. Under the circumstances Hughes has done exceptionally well.

I'm not disagreeing with that roversmum - I actually think hughes has done a great job of securing a decent front line for next season & i hope it all works out well.

My point is that I disagree that we have a better team now that bellamy has gone.
