That was a game / day out. Was in the cricket field stand behind the goal as the away end was full. As Garner scored a lot of jumping up, row behind me was a rovers fan who got attacked before police intervened. They could not reach me and my brother

Coach from Waterside I was meant to be on got put in the bee hive end as away end full, fighting erupted and they were marched around the pitch to the away end fighting anyone on the front row of the Bob Lord on the journey

Crazy to think police put you in home stands if away stands full...1977 did not go as too young but my brothers went , I think we were 3 nil up at HT, brother had his scarf nicked outside the ground, sensibly did not chase the guy who took it

I woz there, but not in the queue because my dad already had tickets. 42,000 on Ewood, it was dangerous

Yes my Dad took my Mum to that she said she was scared

She boycotted for over a decade

Her next game afterwards was the Div 3 end of season clash night clash in 79/80 May v Sheff Wednesday we lost 1 nil I think, just before we took 8k away to Bury

  3. RIP Birdy

Did not know him but had a good chat in a bar in Cologne before the Bayern Leverkusen game a few years ago. Seen him at many away games from Celtic to Cambridge midweek on a wet Autumn night

As others have commented 2nd to Jack as a superfan, which would have made him very happy!

Fantastic he saw the club win the premier league

I'd be really grateful for a bit of local knowledge for travelling down to this one.

Work patterns and the college timetable of my lad mean that going on the coaches is a non-starter, so I'm going to drive down early afternoon, park at a tube station on the outskirts and go from there.

Previously, Cockfosters was always a good bet for Arsenal/West Ham but ideally i'd like somewhere over the M40/A40 corridor. Can anyone suggest a good spot?

Alternatively, in the past I've also parked at Luton Parkway and caught the fast train to St. Pancras. The trains run back from St. Pancras quite late, so returning after the game shouldn't be an issue. Would this be a reasonable alternative to dodge any potential M25/circular Road issues?

Another option is Westfield shopping centre in Shepherds Bush

24 hrs is £15 used it for this year's FA Cup Final, so I am sure cheaper for less, easy tube journey from there

Bet your Chelsea mate was chuffed given what was going on at the turf at the same time.

Was he cacking his pants about when we go down there at the end of the month?!

He thought it was funny everyone cheered when Chelsea scored and joined in playing football the Vincent Kompany way, going back down..

He thinks Chelsea have turned a corner which they probably have

  6. Great day out in the sun..

Thought back four were very good, Britain looked v good as a right midfielder, JRC is class and Tronstad did all the nitty gritty stuff very well

Sigurdson looks a star in the making

As for the older QPR fan on that video, must have watched a different game, I took a Chelsea and Arsenal fan with me and they both thought we played cracking football

Win the next 3 and back amongst it..

Belushis was OK but the Youngs Pub in Westfield shopping centre was easy to get served in and had plenty of room for anyone looking for somewhere to drink in the future

The only time I remember us winning at the Bridge was when we won the league in 94/95, think it was Sutton with the winner, live on Sky Sports Super Sunday.

Also remember us getting knocked out of a cup game there in 97/98 and Sutton missing a penalty. That was when we had that rank orange and grey away kit!

We won there 1993 I think it was that year 1st match of the season as I went

  9. What does everyone think of the Arsenal song - North London is ours - they play before every home game

Personally think its very apt and a good song to enhance atmosphere at home games and make the ground a fortress

Do you think with our history rovers could have one ?

    Interested to hear views?

I was bored on a train the other day and wrote some lyrics for a rovers song, does anyone know a local band who may be interested to write the music?

  10. Great result and needed after Hull City. Dolan was terrible, play him against Harrogate and see if he can get some confidence but he contributed zero yesterday

With Gallagher, Ennis and Sigurdsson when fit, Dolan should not be in the match day X1. Plus hopefully one more centre forward to sign, as Leonard currently looks lightweight to me
