  1. I agree with both Spencey and Jan on different points

Todd is a good player , but as Spencey says, gets caught out a lot due to lack of pace and on more than a couple of occasions his discipline has cost us. Him and nelsen were the best pairing last year but then Zurab found form last season and rightly dislodged Todd. Todd started this season poorly

As Jan says Todd is our best distributor of the ball

Personally prefer Todd to Henchoz, yet saying that have nt seen henchoz have a bad game for us, what he lacks in pace positionally & reading the game makes up for it. Admittedly I missed the Chelsea game

Nelsen with oojer is probably number 1 , then Zurab then Todd or Henchoz

After he came back in the side post xmas Todd has been good but obvoiusly something with hughes has happened, I quized Todd in the Sheraton in Krakow and he diplomatically said he was working hrad to get back in the team

Always feel save with him as captain but not sure we would win any honours with his lapses

  2. Heard about The Fernhurst. Didn't Utd "fans" kick off in there or just outside before their most recent visit?

With it being Bonfire night, they built a bonfire while singing their build a bonfire song putting city on the top etc..

Then set fire to the bonfire, so yes it kicked off, according to my CID friend..

Once red scum always red scum..

Being my nearest premier league ground looking forward to a 1-0 rovers win with the royals returning to coca cola football and a drop back down to earth

  3. My signature says it all.....3 - 0 at Palarse!!!!

    But also a new one..

    Villa 1 - 0 Rovers 1979/80

    FA Cup 5th round replay

We were in the old 3rd division, villa soon to be European Champions, 1 to 1 at home on the Saturday the old riverside stand shaking with noise and then despite 5,000 away fans getting beat at villa listening to the game aged 9 on a portable radio with the great commentator Jones on the old Radio 2

    Guttted!!!!!!!!

  4. It's £15 in total for tickets to Basel and Nancy- ie £7.50 each for season ticket holders, therefore we'd expect a captive audience of around 13,000. £15 for ANY game involving a premier league club is a bargain. I paid £28 for each of my three Celtic home Champions League matches and thought that was a bargain.

As for saying £15 is reasonable for a group stage game in the UEFA cup, I actually despair. What planet do people who say that live on? We're in Europe. These nights are supposed to be prestigious and the whole reason for us to try to do well. If they're not good enough for some Rovers fans- they should go and support Accy Stanley in the Johnston's paint trophy Northern Section or whatever it's called. For £15 that's what they should be getting.

    Jan

100% agree..its us poor fouls on the motorway at 1am people should feel sorry for not the cant be bothered brigade because its November, Thursday, cold and £15...where's the passion!

  5. I have it on good authority...remember I brought you Rooney to utd during Euro 2004 from the same source, that Neill is going to liverpool..

My best friend who is a solicitor in manchester, took a call today from a client the players liason officer at Anfield, saying they need him to do some work for neill In january..

    95% certain apparently

I did point put why would he want to go to a team below us in the league

  6. Been to Rotterdam a while back with England, everything you have heard is correct..

Go to the match then get the f88k out of there, its like downtown Portsmouth on a Friday night but much rougher...the dutch firm dont believe in the modern English philosophy of firm on firm they just batter anyone they see without asking questions...

Get the train station outside the ground and then stick togther for a train back to Amsterdam...I persoanlly would nt go in 1's or 2's back to rotterdam..

Cant make this one away but I'm sure krakow will be as interesting

  7. I WAS WITH LADS FROM MY HOME TOWN PRESTON........... HOW ###### DID I FEEL WHEN ALL MY NOBBER MATES WERE ACTUALLY PLEASED THAT SWANSEA HAD BEATEN THEM TO KEEP US DOWN. GOAL DIFFERENCE IS A CRUEL WAY TO LOSE OUT. WE HAVE DONE OK SINCE THOUGH....PROMOTION...FULL MEMBERS CUP....JACK WALKER...ALAN SHEARER....PREMIERSHIP.....WORTHY CUP......EUROPE.

NOT BAD FOR A 'SMALL TOWN' CLUB EH?

I cried that day...my brothers went in a coach , I was only 8yrs & playing cricket, and they told of loads of battles at motorway services as 5,000 blue and whites made their way back North..

Andy Crawford where are you now?

  8. Wellesbourne

Was in the cricket field stand too..

Brother had his scarf knicked outside the ground as a trap to entice us to chase some little runt, but there was a larger group around the corner..

Drive through Wellesbourne a few days a week on the A429

    Cheers

  9. Rovers held a testimonial for the late, great Noel Brotherston in the early 90s, after Noel had left the club. A pitifully low crowd saw Rovers lose to Man City.

I can also vaguely remember a testimonial for a guy called Fred O'Donoghue(?) who must have been on the Rovers coaching staff. Rovers played a Northern Ireland International XI and I can remember Jimmy Quinn playing for both sides.

I can remember going to watch Chorley Vs Preston at Ewood in the FAC.

The Blackburn end was full of Chorley, Rovers and PNE, Kicked off big style.

I also remember the Noel Brotherston one, didnt he die in a car crash ?

    Will

I was in the Blackburn end that day, I think you'll find it was Chorley&Blackburn v Preston

Chorley were drawn at home but played at Ewood to get a bigger crowd, kicked off bis tyle for ages, coppers helmets in the air all over the place

  10. Blackburn have plenty to do with our season ticket sales.

If we were playing Blackburn this season in a league game at our level, we'd sell more season tickets.

If we were at the bottom of division four and rovers were favourites for the champions league, do you honestly think that no Burnley fans would go and watch Blackburn?

    Course they would.

Whilst we're at the stage we are both at I don't think it makes that much difference. However there are quite a few 'neutral' Burnley and Blackburn supporters who used to watch us both at home on differing weekends....being the costly venture that that would be nowadays, who do you think these 'neutrals' will go and watch?

    Not us.

I think Blackburn have a direct influence on our Season Tickets, but as Claretrant says above, a locale this size cannot really support 3 league teams, plus another 30 or so within 100 miles.

Who agress with this dingle view? Cant believe there are many floating supporters these days personally!

  11. the drummer has won :(

finally moved to the upper tier of the Sir Jack Walker Stand. It was a real wrench to leave my seat in the Lower Blackburn End but there are a number of reasons as well as the drummeer(s).

Nobs who repeatedly berate the team

Nobs who repeatedly moan about the beer

Nobs who repeatedly moan about the weird and wonderful smells coming from Jordans area !

    Nobs who are the drummer(s)

Nob of a lad who repeatedly manages to purchase the seat next to where we sat and then comes in half cut, cant stand, cant sing in fact the only thing he does is wind everyone up includign the kids

Nob of a match leader in the steward department

the three Nobs from Intack who sit in front of us who between them have less than 5 years service who claim to have seen every football match since time began.

So there you have it, my mates and I have flitted upstairs to sit with the Gentry. I just hope there are not too many Nobs sitting around us up there

Welcome to JW Upper Tier..the atmosphere has been cracking the last season especially v Chelsea...I'm in the centre 10 rows up right by the exit, first for beer and the bogs!

  12. I'm off tomorrow night

In the car with 3 mates ( 2 gooners and a chelski )

Eurotunnel to calais, drive to Brussells Friday night

Up early drive to Dusseldorf, check-in hotel, ditch car then 30 mins train ride to Gelsenkirchen for around 11am

On the beer, to the ground wait for kick off touts hopefully drop the prices and heaven are we..

Back to Dusseldorf to fanfest for Brazil v France then on the town

Cant wait..only 40quid a head in the tunnel!

PS WAGGY ILL TAKE YOUR SPARE TICKET

  13. Nice one---

A few members of this site have a recollection of champagne drinking that night...the first meet of London based rovers resulted in chants of ..There's only one Jack walker reverberating around South Kensington at 2am..

A great night and Tris got laid as well if i remember!!
