  1. I know this is more "Recent" than "New" but I just have to say DEAD SPACE is amazing.

I picked it up at blockbuster on pre owned - it's the most atmospheric and scary game I've played. The ambient sound effects are terrifying. I'm up to chapter 3 and although I've heard it's a bit short it was well worth the £17.00 pre owned price.

I'm waiting for Fight Night round 4 and this is keeping me going (I also picked up "Orange Box" for £12.00 but haven't been able to tear myself away from Dead Space yet).

For me, it beats Bioshock comfortably - it's a graphical and audio masterpiece and gives a real sense of claustrophobia. Controls are very easy to master and the story keeps you playing one more level.

Top notch - highly recommended if like me your sat around waiting for new games.

  2. Yes but we can all remember Goldeneye with fond memories and hope that one day one might break the mold again.

Indeed (although the Chronicles of Riddick game wasn't too shabby either) - it's just a shame they only come along once every blue moon. I never get excited when they announce a "Game of a Movie" as I'm old enough to have bought a copy of "E.T. : The Extra Terrestrial" on the Atari - I kind of judge movie (film) games on that so I'm never dissappointed but by the sounds of it "Watchman" is a serious contender...

Still, quite looking forward to Ghostbusters.

  3. Just played the demo of 'Watchman' my word is it bad.......really bad.

Normally I would go into detail and describe it but I am not aloud to swear on here and it hurts just to think about it so I can't.

Lets play a new game - download and play the watchman demo. Whoever manages to play it the longest is the winner. I think I managed 3 minutes before I started crying.

    A BAD game/movie tie in????

SURELY you must be mistaken!! :rover:

  4. Just felt like reviving this thread. Has anyone played Virtua Racing in the last year or two? It's amazing how crap the graphics look now

On that subject - I remember going to the arcades in Blackpool and drooling over the graphics of the likes of "Hard Drivin'", "Roadblasters" and "Afterburner". Amazing how things have changed (and you used to be able to buy a cup of tea for 5p (coffee 10p) in Funland) Anyone else used to get taken to Blackpool on a Sunday by their folks and dumped in the arcades while they went to the market?

Still the one that I still hold dear is Tekken World Cup (with the roller balls?) many a 20 pee went into this and many a blister on my hand as a result.

    Best Arcade games for me?

    1. Tekken World Cup

    2. APB

    3. Kick and Run

Console wise I've got to go for NHL 94/95 on the Megadrive.

  5. I have always fondly remembered a Kevin Moran goal in the play-offs where the ball looped up near the line and he headed it and a couple of defenders into the back of the net.

Was this against Derby or is my mind playing tricks?

Yes I remember that one fondly as well - I think it was the second leg of the playoffs (we won the first one 4-2 - helluve game). I think the ball looped up and dropped just under the bar to find Moran charging in with his head. Was watching the second leg on the big screen they put up at Ewood - crowd went ballistic because it effectively killed Derbys hopes of turning it round I think.

    Happy days

  6. Why? Brad's a legend, he deserves a warm welcome back to Ewood. Only chant i'll be singing is "Friedel Friedel Friedel Friedel Friedel "!

    Give the guy some credit.

He's gonna get a great reception when he approaches the Rovers end and he fully deserves it. When the game kicks off though it's down to business....

    How about:

"Friedel, give us a goal, Friedel Friedel give us a goal" - chant it loud and long (especially when we have a corner) If we do score we can berate the Villa fans with:

"Friedel's still a rover, Friedel's still a Rover Na naa na naa!"

I'm sure the big guy will see the funny side when the games over.

  7. Seen that a few times now, but it still makes me laugh.

I got horribly addicted to WoW and probably still would be if it wasn't for my current hectic work schedule. It's a very very very fine game and worth every penny of the subscription. It's up there with Sky+ and my dyson as "things that I used to live without, but wouldn't give up now I've got them".

Not been playing for ages but two words:

    Burning crusade

Oh dear, I'm now getting impatient waiting for it to update. Goodbye real friends.... :P

  8. The can say what the hell they like at the start but they will be the ones cursing their luck at a player that always injured.

Dig this up at the end of the season when he has done something and rub it in my face - for Dunny I hope I am wrong but I cant see it

Seconded - couldn't have put it better myself.

And kudos for good taste in music. Rock n roll brother.. B)B)

  9. Didn't realise how much I missed the place till I read this thread. :(

    4-2 vs Derby

    3-1 vs Newcastle

    5-4 vs Crystal Palace

Emotional stuff, great songs - "you must have come in a taxi" - the irony

Remember a Wolves game - the away fans started singing "lets all have a disco" to which which most of the rovers end responded with "what the f***s a deesco?" in thick brummy accents - quality entertainment.

Unfortunately I think we lost that game in the last minute - some keeper on trial dropped the ball in the back of the net from a thirty yard hopeful punt - anyone remember his name? Virtual pint for the correct answer...

  10. I predict a clobbering against the Royals. But every cloud has a silver lining - a 3-1 hammering will see Rovers bottom out and make the players realise just how inept they really are. From then on they'll decide that it's better to actually start earning their extortionate wages instead of turning up and playing when they feel like it.

I haven't posted in a while but I'm completely fed of this half arsed crap I strangely still submit myself to.

  11. Ok peeps this is the move you need to learn to take the mick:-

ARRRRAAAGGGGHHHHH - Has anyone managed to do this yet. Either the above instruction is incorrect (though I have searched through other sites and they all say the same) or I am being a complete divvy.

Cocker the trick to this is you must have a player with one strong foot and a weak foot (difference of about 30 points). If your running from top to bottom and shooting from left to right he must be strong on his left (i.e his kicking foot). He won't do it when sprinting (i dont think) and it doesn't happen all the time so there's no specific trick to it - it just happens probably about once in twenty i think, depending on the player.

I wouldn't invest a lot of time in it to be honest because sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't - like real footy a lot of it is luck, theres no "knack" as such.

In addtion to this the player must have a weak foot frequency of 3 or less and a 90+ technique value. (rivaldo and margani on the ps2)

PS I have the 360 version and I'm jealous of ppl with the PS2 version, go figure. :)

  12. The ones that i have posted are for the PS2 version.

No point posting ones for the 360 as you can hardly editing anything.

What the hell is going on with the 360 version??????

The mechanics of the game are superb and a massive imporovement - but what the hell is going when you can't:

    1. Edit team names and kits

    2. Save your goals (when the 360 has it's own hard drive which is a complete waste of time)

    3. Choose your home/away kit when playing master league/league/cup mode

Dunno if I'm missing an option menu or something, but it's plain to see they have put a lot of effort into yet again improving the game but I thought the above list would always come as standard on Evo now, I found has disappeared!

<edit> And xbox live doesn't work....

The game itself is a vast improvement whereby you have to think a little but more about your passes/tackles but for gods sake come on - what has happened to these simple features of the game???? Blackburn is a prime example - they now have the correct players names pretty much bang up to date - but the home kit is once again bloody miles out - and the ultimate kick in the proverbial gonads is that you can't edit it?

As you can tell I'm thouroughly cheesed off with this......:angry::angry::angry:

  13. Nothing much more to add to that but Bravo blackburn Rovers for actually meeting the problem head on. I for one will start going to the rovers games again. Previously a 200 mile round trip and £30 a ticket priced an ordinary working joe like me out.

The job is only half done so it's now up to us to literally put our money where our mouth is. I only hope and pray that the fans respond to this and pack the ground out. I for one will be doing my bit - just hope I can get a ticket for the Rovers End :(

Best news I've heard since we signed Alan Shearer - I feel very proud to be associated with a club willing to listen to their fans.

On the other hand maybe we should boycott the Bolton game and see if we can beat them down to a fiver a ticket with a free pie for the Man U game. ;)

  14. Just to clear up the will it won't it be released: Exerpt from Gamespot

GC 2006: Pro Evo and FIFA Not so Exclusive?

    Konami to Microsoft: "BALLS!!!"

    by Tal Blevins

August 26, 2006 - Seems like there's a little confusion floating around the world about at least one of the announcements Microsoft made at the German Games Convention this week.

In their GC press conference in Leipzig that we attended, Microsoft specifically announced that the next iterations of Pro Evolution Soccer and FIFA would only be available on the Xbox 360 for the next 12 months. Given that their press conference was held on August 23, 2006, you would assume that means you would mean Xbox 360 had Pro Evo and FIFA exclusively through August 23, 2007.

However, shortly after the press conference, Konami denied that there was a 12-month exclusivity deal in place for the Pro Evolution series.

We interviewed Pro Evolution Soccer producer Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka today and he told us that next-gen version of Pro Evolution Soccer 6 would be exclusive to the Xbox 360 through the end of the year, but not for 12 months. He also confirmed that a PlayStation 3 version of the game was already being worked on, and would most likely be released in spring or summer of next year, although no specific release date had been confirmed as of yet.

Seabass also made it clear that the current-gen versions -- PC, PS2, DS, PSP -- will all still be coming out at the same time as the Xbox 360 version.

Konami Japan went so far as to release this statement (translated) to explain the situation:

"There are some articles (or some statements which could lead to the misunderstanding) at some websites and other sources stating that Konami's soccer game Pro Evolution Soccer 6 will be released as an exclusive Xbox 360 title. However, this is not true. Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is being developed for multiple platforms so that many consumers will be able to enjoy it."

According to what we've heard from EA representatives at the show, the FIFA deal seems to be similar, and there could be a much shorter window of exclusivity than what Microsoft originally announced.

  15. They were a class act with top quality players throughout the team. They even have the luxury of having players like Messi and Tevez on the bench.

The best team in the tournament on the evidence to date.

Agree entirely - although player for player England are as good - I'm just clinging onto the "England haven't peaked yet". Fact is Argentina are looking unstoppable whilst England and Brazil are playing like they've forgotten their P.E kits and are having to play in their shoes and underpants. (and yes, I had a difficult time at school :) )
