  1. You should try the Three Fishes at Mytton nr. whalley....very good

We're going Clog later on today and fancy something different. I believe both menus are the same.

Mitton hall / Freemasons / Northcote might be a touch expensive on that budget. Stanley House could be a good option. Spread Eagle at SAWLEY is very good too.

Havent been for 9 months now but I was mightily impressed with the food on offer at the Plough at Wigglesworth. Lovely drive through Bolton by Bowland, reasonable price, excellent beer and very respectable wine, check opening times and offers ;).

Cheers, Gordon. Will have a look later on their website!

  2. Wouldn't really matter about location - we'd even go up towards Barnoldswick. Probably about £20 per head I guess.

Not too sure what food - I've drove up regularly with work and noticed loads of places to eat. Did fancy the Chinese but shan't bother now.

  3. Just been to sukis .... Fantastic !

Can't beat Sukhi's! We went on Saturday after dropping our mates at home. We got take out though as we live near near. The naan bread with cheese and chilli are brilliant. As is the Lamb/Chicken Rogan Josh and we usually get samosas and chicken pakora.

  4. I'm a recent convert to Frankie and Benny's. Good food, especially the burgers. Quick, friendly service. 25% off on Monday evenings.

Went to Chiquitos a couple of months ago. Food was OK, but service was terrible. Had to wait a lifetime for everything. Really disappointing.

I've been several times for family meet ups, the food is expensive for what it is and you can easily go somewhere else for the same price and better standard of food.

  5. Speaking of which, does anyone know the Olde English Kiosk in Sunnyhurst Woods? I went on a wedding do there a few weeks back. The food was dreadful (dry-ass chicken and frozen veg) although I don't know if that's just because it was a big do or if that's their usual standard.

But I need to add that the place and surroundings made it a top wedding venue!

This is where me and the wife got married.

We loved getting married there and couldn't recommend it enough to anyone. The hotpot in the evening was really good. Cannot remember too much about the buffet though in all fairness. The beef and onion butties made me laugh though as it was the smallest piece of onion I've ever seen on a sarnie.

  6. I was in the BBE corner next to the Riverside and there were three people hugging each other and crying - who my mate is positive are members of his family. They are brave people to be there tonight and I have loads of respect for them.

Me and my cousin held a banner up to the left of the nets too. RIP John - the whole crowd were moved tonight.

  7. No way. I don't believe it, at all.

Why would you want to kill your customer base? It just doesn't make sense. Drug making is a business after all. They might add lots of ###### to it. Nothing like rat poison, or the other favourite - heroin

Is ecstasy cut with dangerous substances?

Many people, including many ecstasy users themselves, believe that the drug is 'cut' with various things - from rat poison and ground glass to heroin. There is however, a lack of evidence to support these beliefs. These beliefs persist for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is commonly believed that illicit drugs in general are mixed in such a way. Secondly, people involved in the manufacture and supply of drugs are believed to be capable of just about anything and so it seems reasonable to believe that they would do things like this.

There is a great deal of forensic evidence available (through the testing of seized and volunteered ecstasy tablets) and substances such as ground glass and rat poison have not been found. Heroin in particular has never been found in any ecstasy tablets. This belief is based on oone of the many myths surrounding how people get addicted and the role and practices of drug 'pushers'.

  8. This has prompted some discussion on our boards re the likelyhood of trouble at our games.

One fan is insistent there is no hatred from Balckburn to Burnley, it is all onesided. Now I seem to recall somebody mentioning a bus (maybe more?) of Rovers fans intercepted by Police on way for a bit of bother last time we met - does anybody know about this and/or have a link to any articles covering it?

That is rubbish. We both dislike each other as much as one another. There used to be a time when the hatred swung more to B*rnley as you were jealous of our success in the 90's.

  9. A sad day for English - and world - football.

Sir Bobby was one of the true gentlemen in the game, and managed to stay humble. I read his self-titled biography a few years back and it made me realise how much of a great man he was.

    R.I.P :(

  10. Just finished reading "Trainspotting" - better late than never - and would commend it to you all as a good read.

Am now reading "All quiet on the Western front" which is also a dmned fine story that raises all sorts of issues for us to contemplate

I was just about to say that I've read Trainspotting & the follow up Porno.

Both excellent books and I would hearlty suggest to anyone who's seen the film to read the book. As is usually the case the film misses out loads of parts in the book. At first I was put off by the book being wrote in a Scottish accent but after awhile I got used to it :tu:

The follow Porno imo is just as good as Trainspotting - this book is slightly easier to read than Trainspotting as there is not as much Scottish lingo in. A must read book though!

I'm looking forward to the prequel 'Skagboys' to be released sometime this year :)
