This is the only shirt of its kind.
There's a reason it's the only shirt of its kind...

My last memories of Sutton as a Rovers player were him contributing a measly amount of goals which contributed to our relegation and then squealing to the media until he got his move to Chelsea. So **** him.
......and yes I am a very bitter man.
And I'll never forget his hat-trick against Villa in '97.

I didn't.
Fair enough - looks like I got the wrong end of the stick.
I can accuse him of being rash and error prone though. Both on and off the field
-
Players deliberately running their contracts down is a pretty rare thing, but for him to pull the same stunt twice is quite something, especially as he was club captain in both scenarios. Can't think of anyone else that has done it.
Neil announced he was going to leave then worked his jacksy off til he did. Yes it was about cash but don't accuse him of not putting a shift in.

Super ball to Messi. Yesss! 2-0

can itv not even afford a caption for the time in the corner of the screen? 2nd question ji sung park , why??????playing with 10 men for the sake of selling a few shirts
Park's making some vital tackles.
Delighted with the score. Come on Barca!
-
I'd wager Matt Jansen got over 50 goals for us, although most of them were in the second tier.
Yup, according to Soccerbase Matt got 44 league goals, 57 total.

Barton.
The hits just keep on coming.
Roll on the end of the Allardyce era. Ince may have been a disaster, but how long is it going to take a decent manager to recover from the implementations of Allardyce's footballing "ethos"? Bolton still haven't recovered.
I hope you're wrong. I fear you're right.

If Barton was squaring up to Shearer then it's blatant insubordination. If it was about to turn violent then it was most likely because Barton won't be forcibly told when he's wrong. His ego is too big for a player. And he's got nothing to be egoistic about.
We don't know exactly what went on between the 2. Barton's got form for changing room indiscipline but it's entirely possible that Shearer overreacted or decided to make an example of an unpopular player.

6 points behind 3rd and only in 4th because Villa ran out of steam doesn't really represent a great season.
It represents the sort of adequate season Arsenal can get away with, as well as the sort of season Liverpool kept putting in pre-Torres. It shows how bent this whole Champions League setup is. The fact is Arsenal (and previously Liverpool) can qualify comfortably without ever challenging for the title. Champions League my arse!

Overrated as a player. Complete failure as a human being. We're not that fncking desperate.

We do this every season and some of the suggestions are excellent (Santa Cruz is coming to town) but it never happens! In fact the last one we all got behind was Shearer Wonderland.
Anybody got any suggestions to make it work?
Maybe something on the PA system before the kick off (with a little help from Rovers)
Santa Cruz is coming to town was pretty regular away from home. Maybe there's more chance at home this season now the drummer's hung up his sticks.
-
It may have bad associations but we should be singing "he's got a pineapple on his head" to Carlos Villanueva.
-
Exactly the sort of thing I needed to hear from MGP. Before MH left I'd remarked that his next great performance would be for his next club. With Ince's arrival I'd hoped it could spur a revival in his form. That interview makes me more hopeful.

not to "rain" on you but it seems obvious that's why the song is "there's only one REAL santa". I'm sure there's no disrespect to the new boy but RSC has set a high bar for him to measure up against.
Awww someone needs a hug. Get out of bed the wrong side today?

There's only one real Santa
There's only one real Santa
The ball's in the net
The girls are all wet
Walking in a Roque wonderland
Not to rain on anyone's creativity but we've got 2 Santas now, right?

Please accept my humble apologies...I unsubscribed with the Fiver a while ago - just dont find it funny anymore and I have a certain disregard for Guardian sport journalists!
I'm getting close to unsubscribing myself for similar reasons to yourself.

Put this in the 'other prem happenings' but this thread is more relevant...
Barton's 1st Statement
"The first day's the toughest, no doubt about it. They march you in, hand you your uniform and force you to pose for the photographer while loads of fat, tattooed, skinheads shout abuse at you. That's when you know it's for real. A whole life blown away in the blink of an eye. Nothing left but all the time in the world to think about it. That's when it hits home. That's when you realise you've signed for Newcastle"
Joey Barton.
You've posted that twice today. Hasta posted it on Wednesday.
I admit it was funny the first time I read it (Monday or Tuesday in the Fiver).

You have to feel slightly sorry for Newcastle
I try sometimes but then I start laughing again. Massive club my arse!
-
Alan,
Out of interest, apologies if it's been said - did Joe Garner leave Carlisle in the end? If so, did we get a slice of the fee?
You may need to ask that on the main Nicko thread. This is just one of the 3(?) other threads about Nicko.

Bit of an oldie but

Atonement by Ian McEwan is an excellent book. It was much-hyped but in this case it was well deserved. Haven´t seen the film yet but if it is anything like the book it is not surprising that it won so many awards.
Atonement is great although I prefer McEwan's shorter books. Actually I've never read a McEwan book I didn't enjoy and I've read most of them.
The film's worth seeing, too.
Following recommendations on this board I've recently read Tim Parks' A Season With Verona and Phil Ball's Morbo - both of which are excellent.
"Verona" should strike a chord with many Rovers fans detailing obsession with an occassionally successful, often struggling but always unfashionable club.
"Morbo" is a great history of Spanish football from the point of view of an English ex-pat. Very informative, often funny (the author has a great eye for the absurd - something very common in Spanish football) and dispels some lazy myths about regional separatism. Rovers even get a mention, which was a bit of a surprise.
Currently taking a break from footie books (Chuck Klosterman's "Sex Drugs and Cocoa Puffs: A Low Culture Manifesto"). I'll be reading Phil Ball's "White Storm" very soon.

The quality of its new website is shocking .......it takes half an hour before you can get to read the trash they produce .
If you use Firefox and are technically inclined install the Adblock Plus plugin and block all their advertising crap. The site's never going to be quick but removing the excessive (I don't adblock til the amount of advertising on a site annoys me) amount of ads they show really does help.
As for Neild: I think he's set the bar pretty low for his successor - here's hoping for an improvement.

Posted
There are a few DVDs (title winning season, Worthy Cup, others) available in the club shop with the added bonus that the club gets some money.
