  1. Having a brother do life for murder probably doesn't help. I think Barton needs some form of assistance, whether it be counselling or whatever, otehrwise this stuff is going to keep on happening again and again and again.

Well at least Joey wasn't swinging an axe about the other night - maybe we should congratulate him , send him on safari with a counsellor or whatever ......

Or maybe we should just lock him up and throw away the key . Oops sorry , I forgot ...human rights ....... <_<

  2. Well Taylor just about squeezed through tonight after a tie break ......you can never right the bloke off .

But that's not why I'm posting ; what truly appalled me was the way The Power threw his last dart over his shoulder in celebration after he had won . Anyone could have been hurt - the scorer , the announcer , the always-smiling-bimbos who lead the players on , his opponent ....

I really am deeply shocked at the health and safety implications of the incident . Maybe I'm out of order in even raising this terrible incident , I just don't know ...

What terrible times we live in ...

  3. That surely is the root of the problem , Paul - Sky are trying to have their cake and eat it .

They must surely realise that it's just going to get easier and easier for punters to get access to Albanian/arab channels in their own home or through their computers .

Eventually in this global market they'll have to bring their prices down in the UK - I think

  4. But it is serious , Den ......curbing population growth and limiting consumerism is very serious . Maybe you could explain why it isn't ......

Perhaps if I just made a early morning daft attempt at quoting someone followed by a  ....that would be more acceptable to you .

Maybe stating ".......I was just havinga laugh at your nonsensical dribblings. "...would be OK as well ?

    Happy new year :xmas:

  5. If Landlords are allowed to buy Arabic feeds, then why should not ordinary citizens be able to buy arabic TV broadcasts of EPL games at an 80% discount? One follows the other.

Ordinary citizens can and do buy Arab TV broadcasts of EPL matches ......Sky is fighting a losing battle in this department .

  6. Well that certainly got a few quick responses

I don't suppose it was your wife or daughter who was "harvested" for that party. If it were, then I suggest that if she was raped or subjected to multiple sexual penetration by members of the Manchester United squad, then you might just take another view.

Come on , Col - on other threads such as the ones on law and order - you always say you shouldn't personalise things . You can't have it both ways .........

Mind you , if you're like the girls in question , maybe you can.......

  7. Ah ...I understand now - you were just being your usual smart arse pedantic self !

For your benefit I'll explain further .....

Much of the world is developed , ie - industrialised and users of massive amounts of the world's energy resources and therefore (allegedly) contributing to global warming .

The rest of the world merely aspires to reach that level and , accordingly , will exacerbate global warming .

Increasing population growth in both developed and developing nations ( ie , everyone !!!) will worsen the situation even more- they will all be consumers sooner or later .

(I suppose I could argue that there are remote tribes in the middle of nowhere who aren't developed nor even developing .......but for the sake of argument I won't include them - that would be descending to your level )

Happy new year by the way ...

  8. I have never met a working class cocaine user.

I think that says it all about how distant you are from the real world ........

Go into any town center pub in the land and you could find evidence of such use .

Your trouble is , Philip , your theories are all from text books and reports - all written from people like yourself who don't see the reality at the sharp end .

You stick to your top level high finance meetings and stop trying to impose your idiotic social experiments on the rest of us .

  9. Again Bazza, you're using your ignorance of the subject, to cast doubt on the facts. [and that isn't meant to be nasty.]

I don't think you or I know enough about the science involved

Facts Den ? There are very few facts involved , most is just informed guesses - the rest of your post could not be described as "facts" by any stretch of the imagination just educated opinion .

So to sum up we have those who know nothing but trust those scientists who are in the majority .......and how many times in history have this group been wildly wrong ?

...and on the other hand we have those who know nothing but are prepared to consider the views of other less vocal scientists .

Like I said before the root of the problem (if it exists) is in the global economic system allied to massive overpopulation - particularly in the developed and developing world .

So why are the scientists - who we all know are infallible superhuman beings - strangely silent on these points ?

Could it be that they find it easier to fall in line and conform to the prevailing liberal political concencus rather than tell the truth ?

When they stop trying to play it both ways and start to say things that really will make the politicians cr$p themselves ; then is the time to take them seriously .

  10. Sounds like it's only half time in this case . But what a state of affairs - £6000 a year to Sky while the Greeks pay £800

If the EU is all about open borders , harmonising trade and easing trans-national fiscal restrictions then it can only deliver one verdict .

In that case I might have even a decent word for the corrupt buggers....

If not then AESF will have been proved right all along :tu:

  11. To be fair we've had plenty of good publicity in recent months to counter the likes of Wenger .

Hopefully Hughes will have something up his sleeve for the window . A quick thinking midfielder to benefit from Santa's holding up of the ball would be nice . It's damn worrying that only Bentley of the midfield is truly worthy of his place at the moment - and even he hasn't scaled the heights to be honest .

With regards to the back four - I'm confident that they can all regain their form , they're all good players . We all know that Reid should never have played right back on Tuesday ; that was a bad error against the Gunners but hopefully the rest is just a bad patch . If we can play decent for one half a game then we're capable of playing well for two ....

  12. How can scientist predict temperatures in 30, 40n or 50 years if they only have an 80% chance of getting next weeks forecast correctly?

They can't . They can only predict using past and present data which naturally have a more massive margin of error the further into the future they look .

The fact that people accept these predictions as gospel fact is quite worrying .

The Earth is not a machine that can be examined when it "goes wrong" . There is no right or wrong .....and even the ones doing the diagnosing on past results are rank amateurs and capable of having vested interests in doing so .

And that's before we have the politicians interpreting the scientists predictions for their own ends ......

  13. Human nature trends to us hiding our heads in the sand about catastrophes, why with this weather one do people seem almost ecstatic with the prospects of worldwide desolation brought on by a warm spell?

Partly because it gives them a chance to have a go at the Yanks who are the greatest user of natural resources as well as being a nasty imperialistic power . Once the Great Satan get overtaken by the Chinese and Indians - and after that the Asian and African nations - then they'll find something else to get heated up about (if that's the right expression) .

If - and it's a big IF - man is playing a SIGNIFICANT factor in global warming , then it is blatantly obvious to me that there are two major factors involved .

1 - Endless chasing after economic growth and the consequence of using up of natural resources in maintaining a modern consumer world .

2 - The endless growth of human population on a planet that is (supposedly) running out of resources .

When ANY of the major world leaders stand up and argue that rise in population cannot be sustained when that population is intent on achieving economic growth at all costs - with all that entails in producing cars , infrastructure , foods , plastics , etc etc - then I'll start to believe in the incessant propoganda they pump out about the dangers to the planet .

When politicians come up with ideas that doesn't benefit them in the short term financially via higher taxes then I'll start to believe .

When they stop using aircraft to go on fact finding missions and holidays then I'll cut down too .

When they have the guts to stop importing half a million consumers a year into the country and stop building roads and runways to accommodate them then I'll do my bit to cut down .

Now we all know these professional liars aren't going to tackle overpopulation nor attempt to halt consumerism so everything else they do is merely treating the symptoms rather than the disease .

An industry is building up around this whole issue and the gullible are their consumers . Industries are only ever out for one thing . To make money .
