I feel it is imperative we take the game to the Portuguese - I can't see them making the same mistake as Croatia who sat back after scoring the early goal . Too close to call - it'll all depend on who gets the breaks.
But if we do win , then the cup's as good as ours
-
I refer of course to the cretinous Mr John Motson who succeeded , unbelievably, in uniting everyone in my local in wishing that the game was being shown on ITV - adverts and all.....
-
The performance - I use the word in its loosest sense - of one Engishman last night was one of the worst , most cringe making , embarrassing display of gross ineptitude and infantile incompetence that I have ever had the misfortune to behold ......
-
Surprised to hear that Portugal has its share of immigrant criminals - I thought they'd all arrived on our shores.....
From reports by those who witnessed this murder , it seems that this scumbag had been persistently hanging around the English fans despite them repeatedly telling him to sling his hook . Presumably the Ukrainian wasn't aware of , or didn't believe , the murderous reputation of our fans !
-
That sounds sensible to me , Bellamy . Surely instead of spending £25m on players they'd only spend 15-20m and use the rest on wages !

Payton in Portugal
So that's why the trouble started.
don't even know who the guy is but it is an interesting perspective.
The "we weren't doing anything" theory!!
He's an ex pro footballer and even though he's a dingle his story has the ring of truth about it .
There are those however who would argue that he was probably pi$$ed up at the time and hiding in the nearest wardrobe.......
-
Actually it was anti-yob.
Strange you should equate English with yob.
No Philip , the Guardian article was distinctly anti English and it was the "author" of the article who was putting forward the theory that yobbism and being English are somehow indistinguishable .
"Collective responsibility" of a whole nation for the misdeeds of a few of its citizens ? Good grief - what a let off clause for the yobs .
Typical Guardian hand wringing garbage .
-
i herd that the chairman has given souey £15 million to spend to try and get back into Europe
Funnily enough , Lofty was saying the same thing a while ago...
-
He had an assist on the first goal and was a constent threat for the Odd defence.
If he can cope with an odd defence he'll love it here....
-
Henry, Viera, Pires - name the English equivalents? By which I mean players who worry you when they have the ball against your team.
Rooney , Gerard , Lampard , Owen.....I think you're over playing the French a bit , Mr Paul. We more than matched them last night . If (hopefully) we play them again I know who I'll put my money on .

According to a Department of the Environment report, one bird was shot 13 times and was still alive when picked up from the water.
Mmmmmm.
I'd take that with a pinch of salt (possibly a twist of pepper and some orange sauce.)
Any duck with that much lead inside it wouldn't do too much floating.
Might have been rubber bullets.....

lofty2k2,
As your PM is full you'll have to have a public warning.
Must be fan mail.... Great thread bt the way ; took my mind off the frogs for a few minutes . Ba$7ards...

It's as good as anywhere....

4) The fairly mediocre penalty by the number 7. It was the right height for Barthez, and he was able to read the direction reasonably easily.
Can you not even bear to say his name now , AESF ?
The outcome of this game will be to make us stronger and we will comfortably qualify in second place .
England now know that they got the better of the reigning champions , who for 90 minutes had a lot of possession but posed virtually no threat to a well organised English team .
Agree with those who have said that the Rooney substitution was folly. Hekey is out of his depth at this level and I reckon Eriksson is simply being stubborn in persevering with him .
ZZ's free kick was identical to Henry's kick against the Rovers last season . Then , and again last night , I was praying for someone to do the sensible thing and get on the post to prevent a goal .
Keep the faith .

Cheers soueyisgod - that saves me from buying the Daily Mail tomorrow. Hooligans, Binge Drinking, Pub Opening Hours - it's all there. Perhaps a paragraph on Asylum? A little verse on The Euro?
Exactly Bob ; if they didn't have the Euros , then they wouldn't be able to buy the booze . Simple

interesting that some web sites are reportiing that Tugay wants two more years on his contract currently being haggled, from memory he's about 33 now, so look forward to seeing him run rings round scott parker, frank lampard et al when he's 35
Nah , I reckon Chelsea'll still be in the prem then Toog's is 35...
-
There were 4 offers on the table two from other premier teams.
Cheers from Istanbul
Says it all that two other premier teams were after his services .
Cheers . Best news yet for wavering season ticket buyers.

Berkovic is a bit old and moody though. Mind you, I can't think of an alternative other than taking the show pony Joe Cole on loan.
Berkovitch is 32 . Surely this isn't the way to replace Tugay whose age is worrying some of us ? I know money's tight at the moment , but at the start of next season we'd be back to square one.

Come up with something other than the flavour-of-the-month Dowie and people may take you seriously instead of thinking of you as an unvariable and ever increasingly desperate wind-up merchant.
There was a thread started back in Feb about future managers in which Dowie's name cropped up several times . here
(Needless to say , Jim didn't post in it )
-
Give Souness about 2 more seasons, then take on Dowie if he makes a reasonble fist of Palace in the Premiership.
If he makes a decent fist of Palace (sounds bad) , he won't want to come here if we're struggling . From what I've read he sounds fairly ambitious .
Two more seasons of Souness eh ..? Wonder where we'll be then ?
-
I shall be taking advantage of it and upgrading to a more expensive seat.
We don't want any undue noise in the JW Upper , Rev....
-
Just before Emile moved to St Andrews, he was pictured on the Liverpool training ground - collapsing to his knees after again missing the barn door from a few yards out....
Good post, but MAN, you have too much spare time...
The time was well spent just for that final picture alone
-
Dear , oh dear ; I now have to humbly apologise to Morph and accept that his judgement has been somewhat closer to reality than my own .
It'll be a long time before my faith in human nature is restored.... The only kiss this scumbag deserves is the old Glasgow variety...
-
One other thing noted - Tugay's at his best in the warmer weather...
Let's hope this global warming thingy speeds up a bit....

A nice young lady from the club rang me up at the weekend to ask me specifically where I and my 2 lads wanted to sit . All sorted ....
