  1. See the lad is still putting plenty of effort in. Scored twice for the aussies!!

I watched the game and he played very well. He was playing further up the park than normal, as more of a right half and he took both of his goals very well, the first a tap in from 6 yards out after Kewell dummied/air-swiped his chance, and the second a 1-on-1 with the goalie that he nicely slotted.

    :rover::brfcsmilie:

  2. Just signed up, but is there any point getting into a season? If it is realtime, will I be signing up then doing nothing til August?

I doubt it but want to make sure

The season is only 14 games long and there are 3 seasons per real life year. You'll pick up a club about 1/2 way through this season which runs until beginning of July. The new one starts 2 weeks later.

Get onto the Newbie thread on their website and read the Rules in the Help section and you'll get your head around it pretty quickly

  3. Just thought I'd add my team to the mix. Super_rovers (418590) Feel free to challenge me/be a supporter of my team especially if you're in a country outside of Oceania as I'm chasing flags. Any tips of team/formation/tactics (short/long term) would be most appreciated as I've just finished my 2nd season so am a relative newbie.

  4. This was a serious post!, i was advised this was the forum where you can get answers to query's advice on rumours etc but all you have done is take the p*ss. I am deadly serious on what i have said on this site. Looking at a few other topics on here has made me realise people like PrestonMMuM and Phillipl are just idiots who only like taking the p*ss out of people, well thanks a bunch because that i swhat ya have done with me.

Going down with the Southend, down with the Southend, you're going down with the Southend..... :rover:

  5. Apart from the odd obscure England U17/19, game I haven't seen Garner play. His record for the U18s was darn good and needless to say with his name, people here were very excited.

However, you just need to look at his reserve goal record and compare it with the progress that guys like Matt Derbyshire and Raff De Vita (although I believe he's been dogged by injuries this year) have made to see that Garner isn't quite the white hope some expected.

There's still time to re-find his form, of course. ANd he recently scored a hat-trick for the reserves which was unheard of last season. He's a Dad isn't he - that could explain his dip in form (although I have to admit, I don't know much about this parenting lark, but i've heard it can wear u out... :tu: )

You haven't seen him play so as usual you obviously don't know what you are talking about

  6. Cool.

Would probably be best to get your tickets before you come out. I don't think they will sell out too quickly as New Zealand aren't the best team in the world, but I'm sure quite a few England fans will head out there along with you.

We can meet up in one of the boozers (there's a few) before the game. The other good thing is that you can drink in your seat in the ground. Best spot to get is near the 'The Cove' (Bay 23 - season ticket holders). If you can get anywhere in Bay 19-28 you'll have fun!

  7. Portsmouth away midweek is a bit of ball ache, as is Cambridge, esp when it gets abandoned. Driving to Cambridge is like being on the road to nowhere, just a straight road with the occasional roundabout that leads to, erm, nowhere.

    Well, Cambridge, obviously.

I went to the Cambridge game too. Well, I say I went, I took the train down and as the frost was so bad the train couldn't go at normal speed. I got into Cambridge half way through the 1st half and got into the ground 5 mins before half time. (The game was called off at half time!)

  8. I lived there for 8 years and whilst I love the place I hate the team, probably with a passion more than most of you on this board.

However if Neill really is to go, and the barcodes push up the price then thank you very much.

Shaddy, I think you can cut thenodrug slack. As a season ticket holder it pains me to say it but Sydney FC have hardly set the world alight this season. BUTCHER OUT!

  9. I watched an Aussie football show last night (Total Football) which had Neill and Cahill as guests. They're over here at the moment playing Paraguay on Saturday and Bahrain on Wednesday.

Neill was asked about his feelings after the world cup and he said he wasn't very happy to be coming back to Blackburn after the world cup. We've heard this before from him, and he's hardly the biggest ambassador for Blackburn.

He was also asked about his on/off transfer to Liverpool and he said that it was out of his hands on deadline day whether Rovers accepted the offer. He said it was a big complement that had been paid by Rovers rejecting the bid, but it was a bitr frustrating when he could have played for such an iconic club as Liverpool!

Regarding his future, he said that all he can do is knuckle down and put in performances at Rovers and for Australia and hope that opportunities like that come again.

Having read the story in LET from Friedel about Neill being pursuaded to stay if we go well in the UEFA cup, its a nice sentiment, but from what the man himself said last night, I'd be very surprised if it happened.

If I was Hughes I'd be looking now for a replacement. I'm sure he is!

  10. Great draw for us. Bert should be able to fill us in on the Dutch. It's definitely worth a trip over there if the Oranje fans I met in Germany are anything to go by - great bunch.

We should have a good chance of progressing so we've got to be happy with that.

At least its better than our League Cup draw!!
