  1. I thought he had a good world cup and was one of the best players on the park against Brazil in Munich. I was there, and maybe the TV showed a different picture, or maybe its because the guy can do no right in your eyes?

His great performance did come after a terrible first game against Japan. I was actually talking to a bloke in a bar in Kaiserslautern after the game, slagging Emo's performance, despite the fact that we'd just beaten Japan 3-1. I was saying to this bloke that the only blight on the game was Emo. It turned out the bloke I was talking to was his cousin!!!

He said to me that Emo would come good, and he was right because he did against Brazil.

I know, I know, we've been waiting for this at Rovers since the day he came, but maybe he's turned the corner????

I'd rather have him on a new contract than out of the door for free in 8 months!

  2. I'm gutted for the Aussies, it was never a penalty. Grosso didn't dive but tripped over Neill (why was he on the ground?). True to form the jammy Ities squeeze through. Bloody typical.

Completely gutted but not surprised. I'm sure that Italian leather suitcases changed hands before this match.

    Very average refereeing as usual.

Roll on 2010. We will have a new team, but the same spirit...

  3. Australia played much better in the second half. The first 20 minutes Emerton was getting skinned by Robben

Australia certainly tightened up in the second half and probably played better with 10 men.

The Dutch are top class though, so if we play like did last night I think we have a chance of getting out of the group stages

If we play like we did in the 2nd half. 1st half we were not at the races.

Too much space in midfield and not tight enough marking for set plays. We looked better when Cahill came on though.

  4. It would have to be one of the worst stadia to watch football in, though when everyone is singing the National Anthem, it makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

It was originally built for the 1956 Olympic games so that tells you the size of the place. Football is played in a rectangle in the middle of the surface and has metre high advertising around the pitch. The slope of the seats in the lower sections is too shallow, consequently you can't see the ball if it's closer than about 5 metres to the touchline. If you're up in the gods, you need bino's to see which player is which.

It 's OK for the cricket and Aussie Rules though.

You heading down for the game Dave? I've got a 6am flight back on Friday morning as I've burnt all my annual leave on the World Cup! :rover:

    :brfc:

  5. I'll be at the those games too.

I know that Korea-Togo isn't the most glamorous of fixtures but it should be great - lots of Red Devils -they are great to watch and be part of.

If you like, I can try and put you in touch will some Korean fans, they are so friendly and will be delighted to 'adopt' a Blackburn fan for the day and party all night. You could have a great time.

I'd be interested in that KJ

I'll be at the game too, possibly dressed in a Toga! tongue.gif

  6. I think as a defensive option Grella will get the holding role but I think Culina as a third 'forward' lacks scoring ability

I thought Culina played well for us when he came from right midfield and put the ball through across the three attackers, I would hate to see if Viduka was holding the ball up for him and he couldn't put it in the back of the net something Thompson has been doing on a regular basis.

In saying all this though Guus is the master, I have going through with my mate on the team and he has certianly looked at the options.

He can play 3-4-3, 4-4-2, 4-3-3 and 4-5-1 without making changes to the starting line up such is the versatility. thumbs-up.gif

I've just heard that there's a Late inclusion into the Aussie squad

Arn't you guys a bit shagged if you play Emerton at full back? At wing back I thought he was okay, but at FB he is generally a liability, to put it mildly!

Some good players there, and midfielders who can score goals which is good.

But surely to do well it's going to come down to kewell, Cahill and Viduka having stormers? And the two former Leeds lads blow hot and cold to say the least!

    We'll make the 2nd round boys... rover.gif

  8. Looks a good side until you look at the defence. Shame for Vidmar as he has done everything to get to Germany, but he can't risk it with his heart really can he.

We'll beat Japan and Croatia. As for Brazil, I have a funny feeling in my bones that we'll get a 2-2 draw, or maybe that's just the curry I had for tea! Then I think that Czech Republic will absolutely hammer us in the 2nd round! rover.giftinykit.gif

Carney has been on the fringes, but our midfield has too many first choicers. Maybe we could use the Rooney clause and get him in there if Cahill isn't fit, but I think he'll walk over broken glass to get on that pitch in Kaiserslautern.

My tickets for the Croatia and Japan games came through on Monday this week and they're locked away in the safe till 8th June!! (I pick my Brazil ticket up the day before match day)

See you in Germany boys....Socceroos soc socceroos! Socceroos Socceroos, we've come to sh*g your women, we've come to drink your booze, Socceroos Socceroos, we've come to sh*g your women, we've come to drink your booze!!

Think it should read blackburn railway station not brackburn. But that's cool. These photos area amazing, and I'm an amateur photographer too, and know how hard it is to make everyday subjects look special.

I reckon that people of Blackburn would like to see this as an exhibition. Lee, would Rovers be interested in sponsoring the event and getting dillo_dillo back to Ewood for the start of next season?

  10. Why? I think it would be great to play Gretna.......... I was at Celtic Park a couple of years ago and the atmosphere was fantastic, the Scots were all really nice before the game and the drinks were cheap after it!!

Plus its gotta be an easy first rounder...

I was at Celtic Park too and had a good time. We sang them out of the park, until they scored! I spent 3 hours on pressing redial on the Rovers ticket office phone number before I got through (I was at work in Liverpool at the time)

The reason I'm not too keen on Gretna is because it feels like a Trelleborgs!
