  1. Ahh, you see Matt I try the specials at Sharjan such as a monkfish curry or seabass with Indian spices! Very good! Not on the menu usually written on a board near the bar! Fresh and different! I had a Chinese takeaway from M and S few weeks ago and it was delicious!
  2. Only places i will part with my money for a curry round here are: 1) Bukhara 2) Sharjan The best being Bukhara. All the other "Indian" restaurants i have tried all serve you the same tasting base sauce with different heat levels - not very good at all.
  3. Been to the following lately: Bukhara - excellent as always. Grinch (Manchester) - excellent food and atmosphere! Yu and You - not been for about 3 years but the food was fantastic!
  4. Eagle @ Barrow - very good food and a really good atmosphere! Been a few times before but the last visit was the best! Millstone, Mellor - excellent food but poor service! Anson needs to sort this. Algheros - it's just decent for a quick meal on a Sunday night! In and out within 45 mins - full and satisfied! Does not pretend to be something it is not!
  5. Went to East Z East last night in Preston. Service was a little shoddy due to it being soooo busy but the food was very good!
  6. TOTALLY AGREE, i got one about 6 months ago for a change. It was plain awful.
  7. They are moving to Cherry Tree (Edwards Wines) if planning is given.
  8. Nabs Head, Samlesbury - absolute disgusting food and place. The worst i have been to for years. Avoid.
  9. No offence and food is a very subjective topic but Ali Raj and Cherry Tree Chinese are horrid in my opinion.
  10. Tough one that GAV as i would have to go through all the different cuisines, but if i was to be pushed i would say Great Village, Hollytree is my favourite takeaway. As a lover of food i think i will actually list my favourite takeaways: Pizza - Algheros Curry - Bukhara Chinese - Great Village Kebab - Godfather Fish/Chips - Hollytree
  11. An Indian in Abbey Village? It is on my list also. P & P was better food and better prices than Algheros but lacked the atmosphere. The GF went over to their new venture in Chorley Town Centre (Italian Cottage) a month or so ago and said it was very good!
  12. Algheros is okay food it is nothing special but it does not try to be something it is not. Sunday night and hungover "fancy nipping out for tea?" Two minutes away and home within forty five minutes. Job done. That is all i use it for. The Bruscetta and steak dishes are nice as is the pollo al curry (i know, not very italian but it's very good) Much better places around for more lavish occasions.
  13. Totally agree on the restrictive menu and that is probably why you had to order a steak off the specials. Has anybody been or know of anyone who has dined at the new Thai restaurant under the Woodlands pub? Edit: Menu / Gallery
  14. I have been to the O & O twice now and i think it is pretty average. The ribs were excellent. The curry poor. The chicken plain and bland. The chips from the chip shop, now what i want as a side order, big and chunky please. The menu is weak and further descriptions of the food is a must. The place is lovely and personally i would shy away from such an emphasis on seafood; or extend the menu to include some better dishes. They should take a look at the Millstone's (Mellor) menu and take notes. That is a quality place.
  15. Went to Bukhara on Saturday for a meal. Was top notch. 90% of the diners were Asian which can only bode well for the authenticity value. My meal was fresh and full of natural colours. Not a food colouring in sight on our table. 4 popadoms Chutney selection Two large rice Two speciality curries 2 Garlic Naan Chips 4 drinks (all sprite) £38
  16. I am 99% sure it has ceased trading. Shame. Really liked Thyme.
  17. I believe Thyme @ Sirloin and the Sirlion Pub have both closed. Anyone know if this is true? I hope not, Thyme was one of my favourite local restaurants!
  18. I use the Tesco at feniscxowles for additions to the weekly shop! The main food shop is undertaken at sainsburys whilst our meat is purchased at farm shops also; including Huntleys, Barton Grange, Hoghton Tower and the one heading towards Brindle! Oyster and the Otter it will named. I must disagree Paul, everytime I have been the Clog which is in excess of 25 times it has been very busy; including last week! Back to topic though; I visited Mr Freds last week and the food was excellent! Shame we where one of only 3 tables in the restaurant!
  19. Well I am very happy you would like a restaurant of this calibre in your local area! I know because for one I live across the road so know the demographics, two; I have read many a rejection letter through the planning portal of the BwD website and know the people or know of those objecting and three; I would not state it unless it was true! Happy? This may seem harsh but I really do not care much for those local businesses complaining about the Tesco! It serves my purpose with better deals in tough economic times, excellent parking, longer opening times, no chavs stood outside, security cameras, fresh food and many other winning factors! As times get tougher I am looking after myself and immediate family! You may disagree but that Is how it is; plus it has a free cash machine! Best thing that could have happened to that building! Again, this is just my opinion!
  20. Just like those who opposed the Tesco too which is a MASSIVE success! It boils down to retired or semi retired busy bodies with nothing to do but moan. I understand the takeaway aspect having some form of opposition - kids hanging around, litter and so on. The actual restaurant can only be good for the area. I really hope it takes off and i will be visiting as soon as it opens.
  21. That would be great. I am looking at a blue and white flag with a stick so they can be waved in the ground. If you can get some prices i will start trying to get some funding for them. I have spoke about this to a few local businesses men and they seem very eager to donante.

  22. Been eating out a lot over the last two months. I have visited the following: 1 - Duk, Preston (South American Tapas) - Superb, i love the fact i feel like i am on holiday and the food really is very tasty! 2 - Sharjan, Blackburn (Indian) - Decent to good food, but i believe they use mass-produced frozen samosas, pakoras and so on. Is it that hard for a trained chef to make these fresh? The main dishes do taste very similar to one another as well. Visited a restaurant in London last year that was contemporary indian and it was amazing. Using the spices, chutneys and so associated within indian cooking and applying them to more well known english dishes really made me look at the indian slop i have been served round here over the past few years. 3 - Thyme, Hoghton (Contemp English) - Excellent! Fantastic service, fantastic food (new menu), close to my house. Perfect!! 4 - Calypso, Blackburn (Jamaican) - Very good food, the mutton curry was quality! 5 - Buddah Lounge, Ramsbottom (Thai)- This was a fantastic meal. Very modern, great service and worth the drive.
