  2. I think it'll be interesting to keep an eye on the European Football Statistics website this season. If you look at the figures so far at:

    2006/2007 Season

You'll see that after 6 games our attendance as improved by 4.3%. I'm not 100% sure if this is compared to the first 6 games of last season, or the the entire 05/06 season. Of course we've had a couple of "big" teams at Ewood, so the figures may be up because of the United etc game. We'll have to see what the percentage is at the close of the season.

Newcastle, Man City, Boro, Bolton and Wigan all all down on last season, whilst (predictably) the newly promoted teams, Arsenal and United have grown.

PS we haven't had one 3pm saturday kick off have we at Ewood this season, have we? I sure this doesn't help.

  3. Anyone heard "The Happy Song" by the Aliens? Very catchy. It's the second single by three ex-Beta Banders.

I'm also chuffed that Cud have re-surfaced. I'm abit miffed I misssed them play live last week because of holidays. Their new "best of" compilation is good though. Got some rare stuff on as well as some un-released tunes. I've got my fingers crosed that they'll re-release "When in Rome, Kill Me". I've got a worn out tape copy, and the CD version goes for big money on ebay. I cud (get it?) do with a newer version!

  4. I've just finished the new Jasper Ffrorde book, "The Fourth Bear" - genius!!! It's the second book starring Jack Sprat and Mary Mary of the Nursery Crime Division. ("The Big Over Easy" being the first). The series is kind of a spin off from his Thursday Next novels (brilliant). If you like your books a bit surreal then check them out! :tu:

  5. I don't think Henry will go to Barca now - I think he saw last night that Barca are a bunch of divers who havent got any sense of good sportsmanship.

The way that Puyol and Ronaldihno (near the corner flag) threw themselves to the ground was pathetic.

The overall feeling from last night's game was that I am now very vary of England getting cheated out of the World Cup this year, maybe by a bad ref decision or opponent diving... It just always seems to be English teams getting the worst of it against Johnny Foreigner

I seem to remember Owen diving in the last world cup to get England a penalty in an important game - no?

  6. I've only played snooker a few times, and I never been very good (no good at Pool either. Though I do seem to get better once I have a few pints in me!). I love watching the snooker though. I don't find it boring at all - don't knoe why? - It just totally relaxes me. After seeing bits of the two "champions" league football games this week, I know which I'd rather watch! Come on Ronnie!!!!

  7. Fantastic result. The first half was very poor. We seemed to have more about us, but we just kept giving the ball away. Gray was particularly bad, he just seemed to either pass to the wrong side or just hoofed it out of play. At HT I was preparing myself for another drab 45 mins of footie, and I was nearly right...

The two subs that Hughes made were inspirational. Kuqi scoring after just being on the pitch for 2 mins - good pass from Bellemy(?), and then a wonder goal from Thomo. (How good was that goal? - just seen it on TV this morning and it's a screamer!). At this point I deffo thought that Extra time was on the cards. Wrong again. I think one of the Charlton defenders was trying to pass the ball back to their keeper, we intercepted it, MGP passed to Bentley who scored and then jumped into the crowd! Magic! One of the best games I've been to in a long time - simply for that last 15 mins.

Just hope we don't get drawn against Arsenal at Highbury for the next round.

  8. It's the first time I will not be going to Stamford bridge since we've been back in the Premiership. 48 quid for a tickets - no way. I've just been looking at the previous Chelsea tickets stubs I have for the last few seasons:

    01/02 - £28

    02/03 - £30

    03/04 - £31

    04/05 - £40

So, in five years it's increased by 20 pounds (28 to 48) Obviously the biggest increases have come since Chelsea were taken over - 17 pounds over the last two seasons. They are taking the wee-wee,

  9. For those of you travelling by train down to London, and relying on the tube to get you to Upton Park. According to the London Underground website, the Hammersmith and City line is closed on Saturday, so it's best to travel to Upton Park tube station via the District (green) line - or even the Jubliee to West Ham tube station and walk to Upton park:

  10. Two listens in, and I've got to say the new Doves album is a bit weak.

    Disappointed! sad.gif

I think it's great!! Maybe not as good as the Last Broadcast, but still better than alot of rubbish around at the moment. I'm looking forward to to the new reformed House of Love album and the new Asian Dub Foundation one as well - both out next Monday.

  11. Radaghast.....

Just to kick it off again, nice to see the 'normal' public recognise the best live band this country has to offer wink.gif

Yeah, but recently didn't Robbie Williams song "Angels" get voted the best song of the last 25 years!??

  12. Rest easy Morph, the sum total of his knowledge of the Stone Roses probably involves hearing Fools Gold when SkySports used to use a sample from it.

Radagast - if you spent all the time you spend browsing through the bowels of HMV, doing a paid job instead, you'd surely be able to afford the normal price of the album.... wink.gif

As for new albums, Mercury Rev - The Secret Migration, their best album yet(which is saying something), and you got to love the packaging - who needs generic plastic cd cases?

I've got to agree, the new Mercury Rev album is wonderful. Also out on Monday was the latest "Low" album - "The Great Destroyer". It's produced by Dave Fridmann (see Mercury Rev) and it's departure from the usual slow, down beat sound. It's bl@@dy good!

Has anyone got the new album by Blackburn's finest yet, Tompaulin? I've got it on order, and hopefully it should arrive today - it's got excellent reviews.
