  1. Dave Matthews, i'm guessing at least 95% of you are going Who?. He's a South African singer who fronts the Dave Matthews Band, he just released a solo album called Some Devil, it's fantastic.

I'd reccomend it to Colin, seen as he likes Nick Cave.

  2. My brother downloaded aload of Audiovent stuff which is pretty sweet. The lead singer is the brother of the lead singer of Incubus, another quality band. I want to get the Clipse album as well as the new DMX one. The new Deftones album should be great, if that song Minerva is anything to go by.

The Deftones album is really good, well worth the money you'll spend on it.

The Kings of Leon's debut album is pure class, in my top 3 of the year so far with The Darkness at No.1, and Nick Cave at No.2.

  3. I'd say that Nick Cave's "Nocturama" is a mandatory purchase.

    This man speaks the truth.

Speaking of Nick Cave colin, at 11:15 tonight on ITV The Southbank Show has an hour long interview with Mr Cave, should make very good viewing.

Also he releases a dvd tommorrow of a live concert from 2001 called God Is In The House.

  4. I got 2 new albums this week, the debut album by Longview, a nice little chilled number, great to relax to, and the return album from Janes Addiction, which is superb.

    Great to have them back.

Tell me more about the Jane's Addiction album as this is a "possible" for next time I have a few quid spare. Is it as they were or more like someone else?

It's them back and sounding like they never went away, even if you don't have the money spare, go without food for a couple of days and get it.

  5. I got 2 new albums this week, the debut album by Longview, a nice little chilled number, great to relax to, and the return album from Janes Addiction, which is superb.

    Great to have them back.

  6. has anyone got the new blur album, and if so is it any good?? an album ive heard VERY little about, but i think blur are a good band.

if the new albums out btw.

The new albums been out for a while now, there's are 2 singles released from it, both of them ok.

Can't say anything about the album, as I've only heard the 2 singles.

  7. I got Vitalogy by Pearl Jam the other day, thus completeing the albums collection for them, every one a classic.

The next album I buy will be next monday, by The Darkness, the best new band for a very long time, bloody fantastic they are.

  8. surprised to see so many Metallica fans on here really.  Saw the "Icons" program on MTV a few weeks ago and really thought to myself how I miss Jason Newstead, and why the hell James Hetfield has given up the true path of Alcoholica i'll never know.  But as my own tribute i put on their Live @#/? album which brought bang the bleedin' ears.  I currently have the White Stripes Elephant, Danko Jones' Born a Lion, Tools' Opiate and the Tea Partys Splendor Solis in the circa 1993 CD player right now.

Icons was an embarrasment........Avril Lavigne doing Fuel? And Limp Bizkit doing Welcome Home.....graaah that was disgusting. Really is pathetic that Sum41 of all bands put on the best performance.

Incidentally, my clothes aren't very baggy but my personal hygene may have been called into question before :p .

I liked the Avril version of Fuel, not in the same league as the Metallica version, but a good effort from the young lass.

Talking of Avril, her new single is pretty damn good, the title track from her debut album, Losing Grip.

  9. The best band around at the moment are The Darkness, their taking rock music back to its roots in the 80's, and are having a great laugh at the same time.

Can't wait for the album.  They also do a fatastic cover of Street Spirit by Radiohead.

  10. Best newly released album in ages is Pearl Jam Riot Act.. though im extremely bias!!

Top album. Gets better the more you hear it. Not as good as Ten or the mighty Yield but good all the same.

I saw them at the MEN arena 2 years ago, but it looks like being a while until they tour Britain again. They have just toured Australia and Japan. They are now doing a massive US tour that takes them till the end of July.

Looks like we will have to wait.  :(

They've got European dates confirmed, but Paris is the closest they come to the UK at the moment.

  11. Here's a question: if Audioslave are simply Rage with a better frontman (Chris simply has a better voice than Zack), why are Rage so much better? Hmmm. ???

It's two different types of music, Rage were metal/nu-metal. Audioslave are a rock band, I don't think you can compare the two of them.

  12. Just picked up Rage Against The Machine's first album. What took me so long?

What did take you so long?  Oh yea, don't expect the same quality from their other albums.

  13. After watching Wrestlemania last Sunday I'm looking forward to the new Limp Bizkit album.

Infact, June will be a great month for new albums, with the LB album out, as well as a new one from Spineshank.

But to top that Jewel will release a new album.

  14. "Nocturama" by Nick Cave is currently pleasuring my ears.

"Baby I'm On Fire" is a song that I am seriously considering as a song to be played when I pop my clogs and head off to the crematorium.

It's a fantastic album, Nick Cave is one of my fav singers, each album a masterpiece.

  15. I'm listening to a whole lot of everything at the moment.

Favourites like Jewel, Cypress Hill, Pearl Jam, Norah Jones,  Incubus, Matchbox 20.

Also got some great new albums in the past 6 months, bands like Our Lady Peace, Hed(PE), Live, Mad Capsule Markets.

  16. Rovers v Arsenal

    Rovers double the champs

Rovers: Friedel, Tugay, Short, Flitcroft, duff, Gillespie, Yorke, Taylor, berg, Gresko, Sukur. Subs - Grabbi, Johansson, Douglas, Gallagher, Kelly.

Arsenal: Taylor, Keown, Pires, Ljungberg, Bergkamp, Lauren, Henry, Parlour, Bronckhorst, Edu, Cygan. Subs - Jeffers, Wiltord, Gilberto, Toure, Warmuz.

Rovers and Arsenal both fielded uncomplete sides as the two teams kicked off at a near capacity Ewood Park. Rovers lined up without David Dunn, David Thompson and perhaps surprisingly without Andy Cole. Arsenal was without Patrick Vieira, David Seaman, Gilberto, Sylvain Wiltord and Sol Campbell. They still managed to put out a frightening lineup but the Rovers looked composed as they kicked off and Gary Flitcroft got stuck in early with several tough but fair tackles. Both teams fought it out in midfield before Rovers started to take control of the game resulting in a good chance for Hakan Sukur to score from a Gillespie cross. The former Inter striker missed the header and only struck the ball with his shoulder.

Arsenal gradually got into the game but could not threaten a stubborn Rovers defence led by Henning Berg and Craig Short, who effectively stemmed the pace of Henry and Ljungberg. Arsenal was eventually given a free kick in a good position after Parlour was fouled by Flitcroft. Henry struck it sweetly but Friedel was up to the challenge and fisted it away. The ensuing corner offered Martin Keown a chance but the ball was cleared and Keown had to leave the field with an injury. Just seconds later, Damien Duff scores after a shot from Tugay had struck Yorke. The rebound fell for Duff to volley home after 25 mins. Arsenal seemed rattled by the goal and could not string together a decent passing game. The half came to a close without Rovers very much in control.

The second half got underway and Rovers pinned the defending champions back in their own half but Arsenal came away from the first few minutes and started to string together some good passes. They stretched the Rovers defence but the final pass was always poor and they never really threatened Friedel. Just 10 minutes after the restart Rovers scored again, this time Duff turned the provider as he found Tugay with a clever pass and the little Turk did nothing wrong. With options to his left and right he chose to shoot and slotted it home in the far corner with a sublime finish. Rovers continued to come forward looking for a third and nearly got it as Yorke connected with a Gillespie cross, but the ball sailed over the crossbar.

With 25 minutes to go, Rovers looked in complete control as Arsenal could only create half chances. Not even a double substitution could unsettle out defence. With 15 minutes left, Souness gave Paul Gallagher a chance to test himself against the Champions and managed a shot at Taylor’s goal but it was well wide.

    Rovers 2 Arsenal 0

    Friedel - 7

    Taylor - 7

    Berg - 8

    Short - 8

    Gresko - 7

    Gillespie - 7

    Flitcroft - 8

    Tugay - 9

    Duff - 8

    Sükür - 7

    Yorke - 7
