How good is Carter, what an absolute gem!!
My only criticism with him a couple of months ago was he'd have 30 yards of space in front of him and hit a long ball. He's now started driving into the space superbly - great to see.

Back in for the striker we missed out on in the summer, at this point you have got to be thinking dembele or maya
Could be Alexander Aravena, the young Chilean we were linked with?
More interested than missed out on though.

Can't be THAT bad at taking on players...

Is it just me who doesn't get all this 'disgraceful of the club not to make a statement' talk?
Mowbray himself said on a number of occasions throughout this season how he wasn't bothered about his contact situation and was happy to wait until summer.
Then a couple of games before the season has even ended he starts whining on like he's been badly treated, he's got exactly what he stated.
No sympathy here on that front.

Apologies for not bothering finding the correct thread but this is good news for the lad.
I could think of worse loans to add a bit of quality for the run in.

I think most people agree on wanting to spend modestly given the position we're in, but without blowing the bank.If we could bring in these as rumoured:
Deyovaisio Zeefuik loan (wav 2m? in summer)
Matt O'Riley 1.7m
Dilan Markanday 500k (to 1m with addons)
Josh Maja 2.5mWe'd be in a much stronger position for the rest of this season, but also going forward as well.
Approx 5-6m outlay now with Zeefuik deferred until summer budget, that's really not a lot in modern football terms. Especially given the Armstrong, training ground, and inevitable Brereton sale at some point. All also fit the investment 'polish up and make a profit' remit so I don't see it as squit or bust. If just one of them is a big success it pays for the others, and some.
Assuming we also kept the near out of contract players until summer, would people be happy if that was all of our business this window?

Tbh...and of course it's just highlights...reminds me of Buckley from those clips. Nicks the ball well and has a great range of passing. Physically sturdier than him though.
As ever the question is, can he do the stuff on the highlights with any consistency (them all being from one month is promising though) and can he step up a level and do it against better players? For the right price though, wouldn't mind a punt. Hard to see how he gets past Dack to compete for that Buckley role, but perhaps capable of operating deeper.
I agree, I did think of Buckley in the first one where he kept nicking it off the players toes. A little of Cairney too with the left foot and range of passing.
I would rather take a (relatively) cheap punt on players like this, in hope we can bring them up to the level needed, rather than spend money on loans like Clarkson who never looked like he'd be physically up to the job.
It's then up to the player to force his way into the team ahead of others.

Scot Twine is the one to get from Mk Dons
If we're to lose Rothwell and Johnson at the end of the season I'd take both. Not sure MK would agree though 😄

I know they're just rumours, but a bit surprised nobody seems to want to discuss either. Had they already been posted and I missed it?
Just had a look at Matt O'Riley as I don't know anything about him, looks a really talented player.
Usual disclaimer, I know it's only highlight reels, anyone can look good.... etc

I've only watched a couple of 'EFL player of the month' highlights videos, but I would suggest you couldn't make reel that impressive over 5 years of a Corry Evans for example, yet all in only one month for O'Riley.
Wand of a left foot, playmaker from deep but also gets forward, nicks the ball off players, skillfull, composed, takes set pieces, scores a few, seems to have it all.
Only 21 and was at Fulham previously, offered a 3 year deal with option of a fourth. Turned it down to leave for first team football in a lower league which you have to respect. Same as Tayo.
Obviously would expect the club to do more scouting than my 5mins, but I can see why there seems to be a bit interest in him.
