Talking about loaning SIX players. So let's just say he is budgeting around £50kpw for that "journey".

Here's an idea, why not loan in two more established players of real quality, at positions of need, for £20kpw each and then use this plethora of young talent at our own elite level academy as backups.

We don't need 6 extra bodies if they're going to be Jarrod Braithwaite, Marten Samuelsen, Mo Barrow, Jack Byrne and Rakeem Harper. We need starting 11 quality additions.

Elliott, Harwood-Bellis and Tosin have all just about checked that box. But don't forget the likes of Tyrone Mings, Mason Mount, Reece James, Harvey Barnes and Ben White were all on loan in this division 2 years ago.

Set some type of fucking bar, Tony. Please.

I would go further and say I'd rather sign only 2/3 solid experienced championship players permanently rather than loan established ones.

As an example, if we were to get someone released from Wednesday I would look at Tom Lees rather than Reach. Solid experienced centre back who won't let you down. A two year deal to allow the young centre backs to come through and force him out on merit when ready.

Give me that rather than young prem players for a year, every year.

Same in other positions, we have plenty of promising young players coming through, we just need a few steady capable older heads to guide them through. They don't have to be 'worldies' every time.

Good post. I suppose the caveat is other ,better managers , got wise to our approach and our manager couldn't fix that. He's a stubborn old mule

Yep, it's needing a plan B & C if it's not working, and don't be scared of changing things early if it's not right. It was often just put 5 attackers on for the last ten mins with no shape or formation at all.

Southgate's approach in the Euros final was scarily like Mowbray, boring and conservative from the start, but he had the option to leave it even later to 'have a right good go' in second half of extra time 🙄

He needs to make it his way now. This fancy la di daa type football, wont take us into the playoffs. Play ugly football, and get the job done.. Fans can moan all they want about it, but sign players that will start to put their boots in, get up and put their boots in again.

I think we need somewhere in between the two extreme approaches now.

We used to be more direct quickly playing up to Graham bypassing midfield, we've also done the overplaying, passing for the sake of passing football that is so slow is boring to watch.

We can't keep starting games half asleep like we did during the second half of the season, we need to come flying out of the blocks and attack with every player challenged to win their first few tackles and headers like their lives depend on it.

If we take the lead by a goal or two then by all means play possession football and starve the opposition of the ball, but we shouldn't be playing for 0-0 up to 70 mins before having a go like the second half of the season appeared to be.

Many seem to have forgotten how much success we had in the first half of the season when we broke forward with pace and numbers, a lot of teams were terrified of us.

We need to get the balance right and know when to attack and when to hold.

Seems simple to me, but that's probably why I'm not a manager 🤷‍♂️

I'm pleased for Bennett to get a move close to his Telford home. He had run his course here and overall was decent for us. It must have been a derisory offer from us though if Shrewsbury are presumably paying more.

I suspect it's more about playing time than money at this stage of his career. I read earlier he has only played 244 mins this season (injured for a while, but still not a lot)

    Happy with Pickering.

Not too fussed around him being loaned back for the next few months. One less major headache in the summer, good planning.

Agreed, 4 and half year deal so waiting a few months I can handle, plus we already have to left backs until the end of the season.

My only concern is if we were to do the unthinkable and get promoted, then that's a hell of a jump up leagues for Pickering.
