  1. The title of the thread should be edited to No nightlife in Blackburn.

A councilor for the one horse town of Darren this week complained that they could be on the verge of having too much night life,

My my how far Blackburn has fallen.

True though, a pub crawl in the old Blackburn was magical, not now 'Range' has taken over - ghost town.

Darwen is a great night :)

  2. I'm older than you. "Unit 4" was the second name. The first one was "Majestic".

The Classic before the Unit 4 and the Esoldo before that. I'm very familiar with the site as I closed it in 2005. The VUE put paid to a Cinema that served the town for a long time.

I was privy to several plans to develop the site and visited site on many occasions with potential developers. One scheme involved residential apartments overlooking a central courtyard which looked very nice, but Margaret Grimshaw's flats at the top of Mincing lane were a stark reminder of the lack of local money.

Between you and me the building is knackered, but memories of Screen 1 (before and after the refurb) are dear. The first time I saw Star Wars was in there, and jumping up as Ben Gardner's head rolled out of THAT boat.

  3. Le Blanc comes out of it well, liked Rory Reid. Truthfully struggle understanding ze German. Guy Martin in for me.

A lot of the featured movies are good, but they are still being made by the same crew from the old series.

Sack all of the presenters bar Le Blanc, then recruit two British presenters, one a bit of an intellectual and the other a good interviewer. Add to Le Blanc though and not build around him - this is a peculiarly british show (hence the failure of Top Gear USA)

  4. One things for sure, i wont be signing up to amazon prime just to watch topgear#2 regardless of how topgear#1 goes.

You won't need to fool, global demand dictates that after the episode airs it'll be all across the web like confetti.

  5. Just watched the new top gear. Or flop gear as it was dubbed in the papers. Chris Evans is irritating. He's a unique combo of both boring and shouty. In spite of Matt le blanc's criticism I thought he was decent. I'm sure the novelty factor of oh it's joey off friends, look joey, factor will carry him a certain way anyway. He looked totally bewildered at that Blackburn American football team rocking up for the tug of war.

I liked the twitter comments from the American TG fans - "No thanks, we'll wait for the real thing in August"

  6. I'll be honest, I've always found it hard to believe anyone would get enthusiastic about Top Gear in any guise, I always found it dull and didn't like any of he presenters. Clarkson was deservedly sacked (as any of us would have been for assaulting someone at work). He's got a lot of friends in the media who are desperate to tear Evans down though, they've done a number on the ginger one!!

Worldwide around 350 million, yes 350 million
