  1. Got the Franz Ferdinand album, and whilst I think Darts of Pleasure, Michael, The first one and the first 90 seconds of Take me out are great the rest disappointed me.

    Been listening to:

    Stones- Goats Head Soup

    The Kinks-Ultimate Collection

    The Beatles-Abbey Road

The Vines-Winning Days (Half Good Half @#/?)

  2. About Steven Reid-  I think people have a right to judge from what they've seen.  He's another "one for the future" who'll end up being quietly shunted out of the club (a la Greer and Peltzer) when the future becomes the past.

So why crtiticize Steven Reid by saying he is ****.

Surely it is the clubs fault, if they are going to 'shunt him out'

I don't understand your point, you say it is alright to judge him on what we have seen as he is another one for the future who will get 'shunted out' by the club. Please explain.

I'm questioning how firenze came to the conclusion he is **** when he has played so few games.

  3. The way he treated David Dunn was disgraceful, and selling him has depleted our already very small squad.

What the hell is Steven Ried doing here?

Nothing by the looks of it! He's not starting a single match and well he's.... s###.

Please explain how Dunns treatment was disgraceful, please define what you mean by disgraceful.

Secondly the money recieved for Dunn went on Emerton, Amorouso and Gresko, we signed all these three before Duff was sold, so in my eyes that is strengthening the squad (in numbers if anything else) from the slae of Dunn.

Steven Reid is currently injured, only a fool would judge him on the small amount of games he has played for Rovers.

  4. "Dunno if anyone saw Sky's Monday night roundup tonight, but the Liverpool fan on the panel - in the face of far more media pressure and general "hype" than we get - made a fantastic point that I think is relevant to Souness here as well.

The point being that Houllier almost made his own job a poisoned chalice by winning the three cups then having a run in the Champs League - it was built up as the new Liverpool and things would be back to the 70s and 80s.

Now things aren't, Houllier is taking the flak and he probably doesn't deserve it.  Just like Souness doesn't deserve it.

Contrast that with Curbishley at Charlton.  Popular with the media, with fans (their own and in general) but he's never won anything (except a penalty shootout play off v Sunderland).

Charlton are now a bigger club (support wise) than Rovers.  And they're in London.  You'd never know it though.  Curbishley has never exceeded anyones hopes or fulfilled anyones dreams, and has never been near Cardiff - or Europe.

Souness and Houllier have made themselves targets by winning.  Wenger and Ferguson are always on the verge of winning, and Ranieri has joined them (and is great entertainment).  No other manager in the Prem has done sh!t.  Check the list."

A nice piece of sophistry to ameliorate GS's shortcomings. But it doesn't really wash. Houllier is having a hard time because he has spent £118 million, missed out on the lucrative champions league and not achieved much more than Evans. Fans are aware of Rovers financial limitations but GS is having a hard time (as he himself would expect and has acknowledged) due to poor performances which are his ultimate responsibility.

"We could learn allot from what Charlton have achieved"

The best post you've made in ages, Gav. :)

    "Saunders is first team coach"

92er - do you know if he has any coaching experience?

I think it was Tris who relaid that observation.

Gav gets to much credit :sarc:

  5. The above post by 1864 is exactly why good lower league managers don't get the opurtunities they deserve.

I'm not saying GS out or particulary praising Sturrock, though you list what Rovers need in a manager, how do you know Sturrrock (or any other successful lower league manager for that matter) hasn't got those things, he must be doing something right, he must be good at something.

Everythings relative, IMO success in any division is equally hard and to dismiss them like you do is quite frankly nieve.

  6. They kissed and made up as soon as Pete got out of prison in November.

Went to see them at the Forum in London just before christmas the gig was good, but to top it all of I got backstage and met all the band and strokes producer Gordon Raphael.

  7. Anyone else like the Libertines?

What a Waster, Time for Heroes and Don't look back into the sun are three of my favourite singles of recent years.

Also looking forward tot the new Coral 'album'

Radiohead and Oasis are still high up on the list and the Strokes latest album has grown on me somewhat.

The album I am on playing the most though at the moment is Exile on Main Street by the Stones probably one of my favourite of all time, just behind Ok Computer.

  8. For me The Kings of Leon album was one of my favourite of 2003, My brother also saw them live and siad they were good.

The album is very consistent and in Joe's Head and California Waiting the band show real quality, I would certainly recommended.

Don't be put off by those people who claim they are fake (who cares?) and those who dislike the band just because the NME like them.

  9. Axis is good especially Little Wing and One Rainy Wish.

Though Electric Ladyland is his best, 1183, Gypsy Eyes, Burning of the midnight lamp, all along the watchtower......

  10. Being drunk and falling asleep at a radiohead concert is probably a blessing in disguise.

In other music news, Busted have complained that being labelled a boy band is offensive.   Much like their music.

God, isn't that right. They are shee-ite, and pretentious shee-ite at that.

    How are they pretentious, exactly?

    My thoughts entirely.

  11. - Don't you just cringe during the football World Cups or Euro Championships, when non-supporters start giving it large about footy when they blatently have no prior knowledge of the game. These bandwagon riders are doing the same with rugby.

Spot on. Although this WC has not attracted the masses who appear when the nation is gripped by the 'we're going to win it' hysteria, every two years.

Absolute @#/? , both comments that is.

I admitedly don't know much about rugby, and don't follow the domestic game, but does that all of a sudden mean I can't watch and support my country because it might be pecieved as jumping on the bandwagon.

It's about supporting your country in a world event, maybe this point has flown over your heads.

  12. I feel you contradict yourself, sack him but only if there is someone else as GS is a great manager, how does that work, surley if he is a great manager we should keep him as we are bound to come good, all teams have there bad patch etc etc.

I think any talk of sacking GS is premature at best, it would simply make no sense in football and financial terms:

    - Surely GS record in previous seasons should allow him the time to turn things around.

    - Why sack a man when 3 months ago we let spend £15 million. (unless your spurs of course)

Be patient and we will come good, how good depends on certain supporters (rediculous) expectations.

  13. God, the music scene's in a terrible state.

Its not actually as bad as you say, this year there have been some really good albums, more good albums in a year than their has been for a while.

  14. New Strokes single is very good, the album will also be good if you believe the first reviews.

I also saw Elbow at the academy but left just before the encore due to boredom, good on record but not exactly what I would call a good live act.

  15. Whilst I wouldn't say the Seahorses album was fantastic, I thought it benefited from afew great songs and the rest were mediocre at best, they were still a good band. I think they made a comeback single but seperated due to a disagreement between Squire and the singer.
  16. has anyone got the new blur album, and if so is it any good?? an album ive heard VERY little about, but i think blur are a good band.

if the new albums out btw.

Whilst out of time is a classic Blur song, the rest of the album disapoints and has fallen foul at the hands of Norman Bloody Cook (who produced afew songs) and misses the inspiration of Graham Coxon.
