  1. Just checked my Facebook earlier, and on the "People you might know" in the right column on my homepage guess who's face popped up today?! Benni Mac!

How did facebook find that reference that I might know him? Don't even have any friends in common (looked at his profile and friends and it looked genuine)

...anyway to keep on topic....his profile picture must be well old as he didn't look that fat -_-

  2. I'm sure a fair few people on here will be delighted with the story that runs in Norway's most selling tabloid, VG, tonight. ^_^

Gamst is apparently in line for a massive £50k a week contract! Earlier it has been rumoured that his new contract would be on around £45k a week, but since he has attracted interest from other clubs the salary is likely to be on £50k/week for his new contract without a release clause. All this numbers are in according to the big Norwegian tv channel TV2.

Apparently he's on £35k/week at the moment. So how much are Rovers going to offer Bentley then? Surely you can't say that £60k is too much anymore

  3. I'm pleased you liked it PKS. I thought my recommendation had been missed!

I went again tonight. It's always top notch. Service is great, as well as the food!

It's the wife's fave in Manchester and we eat out A LOT!

Well I must admit I didn't see your recommendation before after Valentine's day, but I'll give you some credit anyway. ;)

One of my coursemates favourite restaurant so we're going there for his 21st in a couple of weeks I think, he's paying the wine bill. Get in :xmas:

  4. Oh I like this thread. I'm also after recommendations for the very same reasons as pks, but specifically Italian restaurants. I don't want anything that's TOO pricey, but I'd also like somewhere that will be a little more memorable than a standard run-of-the-mill place...so a nice compromise between the two would be ideal. An ample amount of vegetarian options is essential, but Italian restaurants generally cater quite well for this anyway.

I heard awful things about the one in Picadilly Gardens, from the food and service to the grotty table covers. Annoying really because that's virtually the only Italian restaurant in Manchester that I know of...

My favourite restaurant in Manchester is Lal Haweli on the curry mile. I've been several times and the food is always great, by far the best I've tried in that area, and the service is always excellent. I suppose the decor could do with a face lift, but it's a minor complaint.

Have been at the one in piccadilly gardens a couple of times and the food, service and look of the place was good. There is another Bella Italia in the street Deansgate which also serves good food at decent prices.

Here's a link to Bella Italia Deansgate

San Carlo as I asked about in my first post is also a Italian (I love the italian food), and think from reading reviews online the prices on main courses might be around £16.

Heard about a thai restaurant called Chaophraya from a friend which is supposed to be good. Got some very good reviews as well, and the prices are not bad at all. Their menues and prices is on teir website here.

Thanks for the recommandations so far, keep 'em coming! :)

  5. Me and my girlfriend are considering which restaurant to go to for Valentines day, and one of the restaurants we've talked about is San Carlo in Manchester. Have heard that it is supposed to be good, but after reading reviews on the internet I'm not sure what to think. The reviews of the place are mixed, some says its amazing whilst other says its awful. Nothing in between. But a lot of celebs are going there aren't they, so it can't be that bad? Or are they just treating big paying customers better other people?

Anyone know anything how the prices are like?

Some restaurants I like in Manchester is:

    - Kro2, Oxford Road: Nice food, nice place, decent prices.

    - Cafe Rouge, Printworks: Really nice food, nice staff and decent prices.

    - Moso Moso, Oxford Road: Thai/Chinese food. Amazing food, a bit pricey but worth it! Banquet B is recommended (btw do NOT try the spicy soup as a starter, unless you want to be thirsty of course  )

    - Bella Italia, Deansgate and Picadilly gardens: Nice food and decent prices.

  6. If anyone needs a goal it's MGP.

Just one of his specials against Villa would put the smile back on his face (& ours.)

Not that I feel to sorry for someone who wakes up next to "Miss Norway" every morning (apparantly) - the lucky @#/?.

    He's not with her anymore.

Although I think his current girlfriend was in the Miss Norway competition last year or something, so I suppose you are right to be jealous.

  7. I have penned a song for our enigmatic Norwegian fella that I had originally penned for the Chelski Semi Final at OT (good job I didn't)

Anyway I am about to reveal it after the Transfer Window has shut its door just to make sure he is still here.

Lets just say there is madness to it (literally) ..... ;) and is based on one of my favourite Tunes

Feel free to take some guesses but let it be known there is no other footy anthem to this tune (at least not that I'm aware of)

ok so tell us about this song then! :)

  8. Perhaps you have no idea what you are talking about. I was sat at home watching the game on telly, having not drunk a single alcohol beverage for days. And then I drove a few miles to collect our babysitter - not that my private life has any relevance to this discussion, but whatever floats your boat.

Perhaps you are just blinkered towards him and cannot admit when he isnt great, he was better yesterday than for the last few games, but not entirely up to how he is able to play. But he has always been inconsistent, hence not being good enough for a "top 4" team.

well that might be a reason there..:lol:

so Krislu...how many did you have?

  9. One thing I will agree with philip on is that I thought MGP had a vastly improved game yesterday, whereas Bentley is still nowhere near his best form.

The difference with them yesterday though was that even if something didn't come off there were no question marks about their commitment whereas there were with McCarthy.

If phillip is going to be (as usual) gratuitously rude about Blackburn folk I could respond in kind and say that you foreign based guys are desperately trying to look for something that simply isn't there because McCarthy is the established international who happened to notch 24 goals last season etc.

It seems to be a case of you can't believe he could possibly be so poor and are desperately looking for something else to say.

I don't know if you implied me in that stupid comment, but if so I'm certainly not foreign based

I am willingly to admit that I am not based in Blackburn and therefor quite possible am not allowed to have an opinion on Rovers players, but I take my chances.

I've critised Benni on a numerous occasions for being 'lazy' etc, but as I've said before he played well, along with the rest of the team, in the first half (and no thats not because he scored 24 goals last season) but didn't impress me at all in the 2nd half. But thats Benni for you, he's not the hard working striker, but suddently he can be there and score a goal or create an attack. But hey what do I know, I'm just a UK based norwegian who don't live in Blackburn. :wstu:

  10. Alright ladies and gents be gentle with me. This is the first draft of something I have been working on to the tune Wild Rover please give me some constructive comments on how we can make this better as a group thanks. :rover:

    I’ve supported the Rovers

    Through all these hard years

As we’ve wasted our money to cover our fears

And watched us go down with eyes full of tears.

    (Chorus)

    And it’s no nae never

    No nay never no more

Will we be the lowly Rovers

    No nae never no more

But now our leader is the great man Mark Hughes

We no longer have to sob in our Liqour and Booze

We don’t waste a penny, to cast offs we say nay

Players like that we can now turn away,

    Chorus

We lost our dear Walker but our future looks bright,

And soon our players will once again take up the fight,

For the rights and the honour to say we’re the best,

Until our glory’s regained we will never have rest,

    Chorus

Our club will not fail us, were on a great run,

We all know our future is as bright as the sun,

No longer will we lament about our bad run of luck,

For Jack and our support we will lift up that cup.

    Chorus

    nice work :)

now mission impossible...get the Ewood crowd to sing it

  11. I'm sure if i didn't turn up for work they would be very unstanding if i came up with that excuse :P

I can't see how this would do his chances of a transfer any good at all. Surely potential buyers don't want a player who will throw tantrums and not show up for training. That can't be a good influence on the other members of the squad either, maybe it is time we cash in and bring back the bellers! B)

    we bought Ooijer though ;)

  12. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...tball_home&

Him and Tosh are still going at it.......

Anybody know where that link is to the superb Sav v Leighton James radio interview? James totally lost it it was hilarious and really should be permanently linked on here somewhere.

haven't got the link, but still remember the interview. It was class! towards the end the presenter even took Savage's side, and that annoyed that James fella a lot! :P
