Until we actually lose matches because of the injury, yes it is.

When Raya got injured at West Brom last season , that could have been a catastrophe, but it wasn’t because we took a point.

It’s not as if he just got injured accidentally though and that’s what annoyed me. He was assaulted by that dingle in a sneaky dirty way to soften him up.

Some young players need a kick up the arse, professional football can be a brutal workplace, no one hands you anything on a plate and young players need to understand your only as good as your last game, forget what you've done in the past it counts for nothing

But I would add with regards to the senior players the above isn't the case as they have earned the respect of Mowbray as they have carved a career at the highest level of the sport, and he trust them, Bennett, Graham, Johnson, Downing etc have seen it all, and they maintain a level of performance due to their experiance

there is nothing Mowbray can say to these players that will phase them and he knows it, so why would he risk losing the dressing room by trying to teach old dogs new tricks, he would lose his job

But I recon If he feels any of the senior players are starting to let him down he will bomb them out of the club as quickly as possible

It's obvious his approach to young and older players is different and in my opinion is right

by digging out the young players he's looking for a response, it's up to the player to provide it or be left behind

Brilliant post. Not a thing wrong with that.

I don't read it that way myself, although can understand that it could be interpreted like that.  Personally, I think he's merely pointing out that supporters will always blame the manager if a particularly player is not in the team who they think should be.  However, if that player is not performing - and Chapman certainly hasn't been - then the manager is quite right to point out that the player needs to up his game.  Mowbray is certainly not the first manager at Ewood to do so publicly.

I agree I think some are misreading the comment.

We don't know what has gone on previously with Chapman but from what we know he was injured while in Austria how seriously only the club know this, but it happened early in the trip which by all accounts was a tough pre season meaning from the off he's behind the rest of the squad, he's played for the 23s and done OK but OK won't get you in the 1st team, it looks to me that Mowbray has had a word with him in private and its not working, then he has been asked a question by a reporter and he has given an honest answer, he isn't slagging Chapman off he is looking for a response from the lad, the ball is now in Chapmans Court, starting with u23s game at Brighton tonight

    Again fully agree.

The playing side has hugely regressed and the Academy was already there producing International footballers.

Under them we have been in our lowest ever league position, had two relegations, been run by conmen and shysters, lost millions upon millions of pounds, lost ten thousand plus supporters........need I say more?

I think a few on here Tony should look up the word "Quisling."

But LV - we are seemingly not going to the wall and/or completely neglecting the youth/first team.

At times with these owners those outcomes had been the scenario.

I agree with all the criticism they deserve, they’ve completely downgraded the club, whether it’s an neglectful accident or somewhat nefarious decision - the only real relevance is the future.

At least we have one. Utterly gutted for Bury, and even though I sat through 2500 Bolton fans sing “long live the Venkys” - I still would hate it if they suffered the same plight.

    I wouldn't.

The academy is just about the only aspect of Jack Walkers legacy that they have not ruined. Remember this from Desai when they acquired Rovers:

"We plan to focus on leveraging the global influence in establishing Blackburn Rovers as a truly global brand," Desai said today. "We will absolutely respect the Jack Walker legacy and will be actively supporting the organisation to ensure that Blackburn Rovers remain one of the best-run clubs within the Premier League."

Lies from the very beginning and some are still falling for it.

    Walton

    Bennett Lenihan Williams Cunningham

    Travis Johnson

    Rothwell Dack Downing

    Gallagher

Subs: Leutwiler (sadly), Nyambe, Evans, Chapman, Armstrong, Graham, Rankin - Costello

Gallagher and Bennett wouldnt have been in, but for me Gallagher has to start centrally after his goal yesterday and as much as I think Nyambe is better than Bennett, it would be harsh to drop the latter after 3 clean sheets.

Wait, three clean sheets with Benno as a defender, I thought he was the worst defender in the world from postings on here?

Long gone now of course but I wonder what would have happened had Jack Walker gone ahead with plans to build a new stadium in the Salmsbury area just off the M6?

I was opposed to it at the time but we were flying in the Premiership and we would presumably have attracted new fans from the west/central Lancashire area.

Might have been better off in the long-run? Just a thought.

My understanding was that he threatened to build it at Rishton where the Euro Garage services now are?

Great photo and lovely reading this thread. Is there anywhere on these forums where local/amateur footie stories are shared?

One of my personal favourite football stories happened at Mill Hill St Peters. I was playing for Sunnyhurst in the Blackburn Combination in a midweek game and we needed a point to take the title. We had brought a fair following from Darwen that night and they were all packed into that little stand at MHSP ground, behind the dug outs. Four of our team (myself included) arrived at the very last minute due to various work commitments and we were 2-0 down within the first 10 minutes or so. Anyway gradually we clawed our way back into the game, but every time I touched the ball a voice from that stand shouted "Number 10 you fooking donkey" or "You couldn't control a fart", that sort of stuff. Anyway I rattled the post from about 25 yards and Graeme 'Smutly' Smith (RIP) tapped in the rebound to make it 2-1. The voice from the stand boomed "How did you miss that number 10, you fat useless bald w@nker?"

He was utterly relentless with his abuse, but the more this bloke shouted, the more determined I was to shut him up. Finally, with about 15 minutes to go, I scored from all of 2 yards to make it 2-2. It was the simplest of simple tap-ins but I celebrated like I had just scored from the half way line, ran over to the stand and bellowed "Where are you now you gobby fooker, you're not shouting now are you? Come on, show your face you fooking coward, let's see you!", at which point my dad, who I had thought was driving a lorry in the south of England that night, and was only about 5' tall, pushed his way to the front of the crowd and said "That's no way to talk to your dad, is it?" to howls of laughter from all the assembled Darreners.

(MHSP scored a late winner in that game to delay our title celebrations by a week, and they also beat us 3-2 in the cup final, but I always loved playing them, especially at their place).

And that my friends is how to motivate a player. A practice historically common on the Riverside.

Be careful what you wish for.

A bit like those fans that want Venkys to go - and leave us like Bury or Bolton.

I wish folk would cease perpetuating this myth. There are and have been potential buyers in the past, the venkys won't sell. I wonder why?

There appears to be an ever increasing number of this type of post to apparently try and soften the anger against these clowns, never forgive, never forget.

  9. "Reacting to news of the Shakers' expulsion, Bury North MP James Frith was critical of the EFL and claimed there was a lack of consistency in how it has treated the situations at Bury and Bolton - allowing Bolton to play games but not Bury, for example."

That comment from their local MP sums up exactly what I have been saying for weeks.
