But you are agreeing with me on this one just not in the details.

The only bit missing is that you think Mowbray can stop it influencing the squad. I say... we got hammered last weekend. Possibly a total coincidence.

We got hammered the second half, maybe Mowbray showed them an Instagram slide show at half time.

  2. I’m afraid our Bradley is simply a very immature young man and his career will be defined by having a manager that can keep him on the straight and narrow, he simply doesn’t seem capable of doing so by his own steam and the company he keeps.

I remember Bowyer encouraging Marshall to move out of Manchester to Hurst Green to keep  him away from temptation during the week and his performances peaked as a result.

I hope he gets a huge fine for bringing the club into disrepute and finally learns from it, I have my doubts about the latter.

  3. I have to admit I find the red button very poor, if I had any intention of going to a game whatsoever the red button wouldn’t tempt me not to go. Regarding Sky and their ever growing ways to make money out of customers, I received a letter from them last week saying I couldn’t carry on with my normal standard definition Sky Sports as they were scrapping it so I had to upgrade to HD. They are doing me a huge favour of only charging me £2 per month instead of £6 though, they are waiting 12 months for the full price!

  4. Before the game I’d have taken a point, I’d have been pleased to see good organisation and high intensity and good fitness levels. All those boxes were ticked.

My concerns would be giving away bad goals in this league will hurt you, goal difference relegated us last time! Also a concern would be playing the lads on the wings who don’t have any sort of defensive mindset, Nyambe and Williams got roasted at times yesterday.

A few purchases this week all ready to make the match day squad is very much needed.

    Ah yes.

Sky Sports essentially run the EFL through their multi-million rights package.

B Sky B were once significant shareholders in Leeds United

Sky Bet are headquartered in Leeds and have additional lucrative sponsorship arrangements with Leeds.

    Murky.

SKY Bet the company that makes millions from transfer bets, after punters hearing the false stories that are made up on SKY sports news. Absolute snakes but hey the authorities love their cash!

I'd rather we got quality long term loans than average permanent signings. We need to blood some of the u23's too.  It seems that run of the mill players are worth ridiculous amounts these days, so there's money to be made promoting the youth players.

The problem with the quality players on loan is they are a very nice profitable side line for the big boys and a reason why they stockpile all the best youth players. A top quality Premier League youth player would have an astronomical loan fee, I feel the days of loaning out young lads to come back and get in the first team are thinning out, they simply are an extra revenue stream.

We can always rely on at least one or two horrific long midweek games. This time round it is Reading and Swansea to start off with, potentially another couple depending on cup progress and tv games.

For me Swansea will be probably 2 days off work. To get down there it will be a late morning or lunchtime departure, so working that morning is probably pushing it, then with motorway closures we're looking at potentially not getting home until 3am or beyond, so the following morning is a write off.

These 2 midweek slots should be arranged so we play Northern Teams, or midlands at a push. I accept when the cup gets going it becomes more difficult but it isn't difficult to split the Championship into northern and southern for the midweek slots and ensure clubs only play teams from the same section. That would rule out 10 hour round trips to South Wales on a Tuesday afternoon with work the following day, but then again those making the decisions will be on travel expenses and complimentary tickets so they don't care.

I remember the Stanley chairman discussing this last year and he said it was a long standing vote agreement between the FL clubs that to maximise attendances the long distance games would be used for midweek games. He said losing 100’s of potential local away fans due to midweek commitments wasn’t worth the risk weighted against the probability that long distance travelling teams wouldn’t bring too many anyway. I’d guess the voting for long distance midweek travel was probably weighted heavier in league one and two.

Is it worth looking at Jon Flanagan as he’s been released. Lost his way a bit but he was a very good player previously. Could be one to flourish under Tony.

(sorry just noticed he’s been mentioned on the last page)

My desire to rehabilitate scousers at this club crashed and burned after Bradley Orr!

Mowbray discuss Contracts for Graham and Conway plus new improve contracts for Lenihan and Dack

    http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/16279853.Rovers_boss_hopeful_of_positive_outcomes_in_contract_talks/?ref=mac

What do people reckon with these new contracts? I’d guess at payrises for Lenihan and Dack, potentially their agents looking at release fees inserted. Graham holding out for two years, maybe even testing the waters for another club offering similar remuneration as us but for two years. Conway offered a lower wage for a bit part contract due to Whittingham taking the role of well paid midfielder that time has caught up with.

Hasn't Dack got 3 years left on his contract? Can't see why on earth we should let him go whatever the offer.

He can stay with us and increase his value----win/win. Either grasp the new enhanced contract or stay on the old one. With 3 years left the club holds all the aces.

If, by some miracle we were to be promoted in a couple of seasons, he wouldn't need to leave at all.

I might be talking rubbish but don’t most contracts have a release amount? I can see the desire to reward his performances but I can see a higher stress on raising a release fee.

Dack was back at Brockhall today pushing himself as he recovers from his hamstring strain. Hopefully he hits the ground running for us as he faces up to the challenge of the Championship where he has never played before and in many respects has to prove himself.

    http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/16276599.Dack_back_at_Brockhall_as_Rovers_man_steps_up_pre-season_work/

I remember Mowbray saying at the end of last season he was almost a little happy Dack picked up an injury towards the end of last season so they could keep an eye on him over summer.

I do think he very much has the ability to be a good championship player he just needs to keep his mind on the game, he reminds me a lot of Dunny with the ball at feet and finishing ability but like Dunny seems to be a man who likes a beer, women and hasn’t been blessed with a natural athletic physique.

Huge season for Sunderland next season. If the club doesn’t get sold, their current owner seems totally uninterested.

Not totally sure of the debts they have but I can’t imagine it’s small.

Its going to be a total rebuild for them in the summer with little funding but like us, probably need to be coming back up at the first attempt.

I do have some sympathy with them just because we’ve been through similar with awful owners resulting in league one football.

£110m debt and rising I heard last night. Very hard to see where they will go from here, the manager hasn’t seemed to give them “the bounce” and they still look like they will be saddled with a few Premier League wages next season (Rodwell £70k p/w as one).

Coleman still hasn’t spoke to the owners since his arrival so that never bodes well for club cohesion as we well know. To top it off Jason Steele is their goalkeeper!

I just hate football at times like these that those huge earners who have been terrible for them on the pitch will still be creaming in millions of pounds a year still. If the club is lucky to actually offload them they won’t go anywhere until they get paid some cash to marry up their current ridiculous wage to their new one or you have to pay them cash to go away ala Murphy, Etuhu, Best, Orr ... the list goes on grrrr!

Woke up, checked the league table. Nope not a nightmare, we are 4 points behind Bristol City. Our fate is not in our hands anymore.

Also a quick glance at League one made me want to cry.

The sort of teams you want in a cup draw not a league fixture.

Our GD of -8 in comparison to Bristol City makes it more like 5 points too just for good measure, absolute nightmare!

I know what you mean about some League One teams, a few were non league when we were taken over.
