It's even more of a mystery as I don't even think Gally is fully fit. It's only 11 days since he was subbed off with an injury after returning from an injury. The rush to bring him back in ASAP all the time isn't even helping the player himself.
I'd much rather see him as BBD's backup. He'll get limited minutes, but he doesn't offer anything when paired with BBD no matter who's playing the false 9. I'd like to see the front 3 like this...
BBD/Gally Khadra/Markanday/Dolan
Buckley/Dack/Dolan
Don't play BBD and Gally together. Don't drop Buckley into a box to box CM. Let him create and roam a bit. Of course, I wouldn't replace BBD with Gally unless injured, exhausted or suspended.

First off the ref was abysmal. Hull's first goal was questionable. It was clearly over the line, but prior to that, it appeared to go over the end line before being crossed. BBD was brought down for a stonewall pen. Not given. Hull's 2nd goal was a farce. McGloughlin lined up Kaminski and plowed into him. Not even debatable. Clear foul.
All that said, Rovers were awful and I think TM deserves a lot of blame. I like that he stuck with the current formation, but the players seemed lost by moving the guys into different positions. Khadra should have started up top alongside BBD. Gallagher to the bench. Buckley should have been in his normal role as well. Davenport or Johnson (I don't rate Johnson as I feel his legs have gone) should have started for Travis. I feel like TM disrupted the team by putting guys in roles they haven't played in months. JRC was a weak spot too, but the new RWBs weren't ready yet.
Awful match. Awful lineup. Awful ref. Bounce back against Boro and Rovers will be fine.

Rovers and Fulham with automatic promotion. Hmmm that sounds familiar. 🤔

What's Freddy Adu up to these days?
Just started playing again in Sweden after not playing since 2018. Shockingly, he's only 32. Actually his contract was terminated after a month.

“Let’s wait and see how the next few weeks go and whether we can spend any money on players or are looking at free transfers.”
Why does he not know?!
Look, I think 99% of us are done with Mowbray, but do you want him to say "we have 7.2M to spend"??? Don't show your hand. We are clearly open for business, but we shouldn't tell teams what the owners are letting him spend. It's Negotiations 101.

Believe what you want.
I think Venkys are fed up, cutting everything they can and will sell anyone they can.
12 out 0 in is not the sign of a club astutely dealing with the market. Its the sign of a club desperate to cut costs.
Our wage spend was 189% of our REVENUE last year. The wage bill had to come down. If we don't sign anyone now, with 12 players off the books and $10M for Armstrong (assuming Newcastle will get $5M), fans will have the right to be very upset. Let's see what happens over the next few days. There should be several incoming signings.

Is that right though? Surely the value of the player coming must be considered considered Newcastle compensated accordingly. Otherwise clubs would just be doing player deals instead of cash ...
I may be wrong.
This is exactly why we did a separate deal. If it were a cash/swap deal, Obafemi's value would have to be taken into consideration. We would owe Newcastle another 2.4M (if Obafemi's valuation is 6M).

I dont get how the price can be affected by a potential Obafemi deal as Mowbray isnt even sure if he is interested and whether a deal will be agreed with him. Plus if Armstrong is at a favourable rate, what stops Southampton cancelling the deal?
Mowbray can't admit that he knows the he is interested. It could be used against us if Newcastle protest. Legally nothing could stop Southampton from cancelling the deal. It sounds like they want rid and they just brought in a new striker.

I agree we need the money, but if we sold for 15M and 5.3 of that went to Newcastle and then we put 6 into Obafemi, what did we net from the it all? Less than 2 million and we lost our top scorer?
We won't be buying Obafemi for 6M. We will be getting a cut rate deal. Here is how I see it breaking down:
Armstrong sold for 15M, bought originally for 1.75M, but raised to 3M based on incentives. We owe Newcastle 40% of the profit on the deal. (15-3)*.40 = 4.8M. That leave Rovers with 10.2M. We will buy Obafemi for around 3M in a separate deal to avoid paying Newcastle an additional 40% on the 6M (2.4M) valuation of Obafemi.

I honestly don't know right now. It appears that Buckley is playing a false 9.
Well he's coming off now. Bizarre.

I… I think he’s put Buckley centre forward.
Haha he's moved Travis out wide into Gallagher's position.

Davenport for Buckley please!

Are foreigners not going to be able to stream games this year as in years past? I've been following Rovers for a long time and had a seasons pass to iFollow since they started streaming in 2017. Under the "View Subscriptions" button all I see is the Bolton preseason match listed. Is there not a season streaming pass on the new RoversTV? That would be brutal. I'd go from watching all 46 matches a year to getting to watch 3-4 on ESPN+. That would be devastating.

I read that as you did the same celebration as Dolan then, now that would've been impressive ?
If I tried that, I’d be on my way to the hospital or morgue.

These subs are a bit worrying, Rothwell, Holtby and Arma off, big lift to Preston, if they get a lucky break we could be in trouble.
Hahahaha. Nope.

Bell and Evans need to sit this weekend and for the season. The lineup should be:
Kaminski
Nyambi Lenihan/Willaims Ayala Douglas
Holtby Trybull Rothwell
Dolan/Elliott Armstrong Elliott/Brereton
Work Dack in once he's ready. I can't get over how bad Evans is. He offers nothing going forward.

Davenport for Evans please. Much better on the ball and can run. Evans next to Johnson is pointless.

I think Serie A clubs should be looking at Mitrovic. He's a technically gifted player that lacks elite pace that is almost a prerequisite in today's Premier League. I've always thought of him as a poor man's Edin Dzeko. I think he could bag 20+ goals in that league.
£28.5m would be tough to turn down for BBD, but I think the Rovers need to hold out until the summer. Promotion would be worth a lot more to Rovers than £28.5m. If Rovers don't go up, I think they could still get £20m this summer. He has the international pedigree that Armstrong lacks and there appears to be genuine interest from abroad in addition to the Premier League clubs.
