Emerton to sign for £25,000,000.
-
Some papers are building up the case for Smith going to Liverpool.
The irony about the Defoe situation was that West Ham persuaded him to leave the Charlton set-up.Then see what happened.
-
Martin Fowler has already played for us.
-
I am greatly saddened by this latest posting, but i would like to point out that it's not just footballers who are capable of such boorish behavour.
-
In the Rdaio Rovers interview Andrew Cole referred to the difficult 2 full seasons he had had with us and made comments such as he hehad learned a lot about himself and about the way football clubs are managed. i thought he was very eloquent. When Wendy askes him if he would be back next season he was really non-commitall.

I thought the way Dunn and the supporters conducted themselves did each group great credit.
-
Will we actually be able to get rid of him? In the LET it said we had paid £750,000 followed by 2 more payments of £125,000 each and the club wanted to get its money back.
-
What it means is that Todd is in fact an awful defender but we've had even worse ones. Like Todd, most of them have been Souness signings.
-
Radio Lancs said that no decision had yet been made.
Todd should never have been signed.
He is not a Premiership player.
He is a complete thug. Allegedely.
As Scotty has pointed out previously, he might have played reasonably well in comparison with other players. But it is just comparitevely.

Kilby said in the media interview that he wasn't renewing Stan's contract despite him being the best Burnley manager for 30 years. One rumour is that Flynn will take over. Another is that if Bates takes over Sheffield Wednesday he wants Ternent to take over.
-
At least Beglin played for us.
-
I don't think there is any chance of Souness being sacked as we can't afford the compensation. However,if something does happen, such as his offering his resignation, I'm sure his perspective will be-loads of injuries,no luck throughout the season-but this will be probably be his last job as a professional manager. WHO ELSE WOULD EMPLOY HIM? If he is a proud man he would be concerned about his final result.Could this motivate him to turn it round? I personally doubt it but we can hope.

The rumour I heard today was that Coar had told Souness that it was time to get rid of Saunders. However,it's written into Souness's contract that he can pick his own coach so he told Coar where to go. On another link someone posted about the look on Coar's face after their first goal. Maybe it fits in.
-
The person next to us and his wife have missed a couple of matches-so they've only seen 1 win.Even more expensive for them.
-
I'm not a fan of Souness but I did think he might have turned the corner recently when he came out with his statements that he had made mistakes recently with both Yorke and Cole.
This is perhaps not the time to go into Souness's failings but I do think part of his problem, besides not having a coach, is not having a sounding board :I suspect there might be too many yes-men about.

Thanks Sam- you beat me to it.Well done RoyB
-
Gordon has got a degree. And he played for us.
-
Rev-isn't Sutton a 30-odd year old?
Tottenham seemed to be linked strongly with a 65 year old Italian-Trappatoni/
-
They're trying to balance selling with avoiding relegation.
-
I think it's going to be very interesting to see what Souness does at the end of the season. it looks as though there won't be huge amounts to spend and any improvement in the squad might well be down to having to improve players. This is not Souness's forte.
-
One of the unfortunate things about relegation is how other clubs look for bargains. Henchoz, for example, who tried hard to prevent our demise, went for less than his worth because of a clause in his contract whereas nobody wanted Peacock. On this basis I feel very sorry for Leeds because although they haven't been relegated at this stage the vultures are close.
-
Maybe we can never replace Duff, but the players he has brought in are not real aternatives to him.Gillepsie was always a no-hoper.
-
i thought it was a salary deferrment until the end of the season to avoid the club going into administration.
-
I think we definitely need to concentrate on getting 40 points and not count on teams below us doing worse than normal. That means we need to win a minimum of 4 games.5 would be better. We've won 1 in 8 so it's still a big ask.

Henning said he thought he should do well in England, that the Rovers were a good club to come to but that he wasn't an exact replacement for duffer.
