Was going to put this in the "Heaven" forum but thought it might be pertinent here, especially as I have heard nothing about it yet.

On 25th April 1912, Blackburn Rovers became League Champions for the first time. This did not happen again until 1995.

Rovers won the title with a 4-1 home win against West Brom, the team who beat Rovers 1-0 in extra time of a cup semi-final replay to prevent us winning the double. There are no doubt a few in the Riverside who will remember this game :-)(although they may have missed the last 10 minutes).

The Championship was won with 2 games left and we even had the chance to show off our winning team at Old Trafford on the last day of the season. :rover:

As the clubs owners have no clue whatsoever (and apparently don't care) about football or it's history, let alone Blackburn Rovers, it may be down to us supporters and perhaps the local paper to commemorate this achievement.

It would be nice if any living relatives of any of the players of 1911/12 could be invited to Ewood for a match close to the title winning date. Perhaps we could wear a kit for one game similar to the one worn in 1912 (maybe not made of wool though!), I'm sure the shirt sponsors won't mind as we don't have one. This kit had halved long sleeves and white "grandad" collar that opened a fair way down but only had one button, and blue cuffs. White shorts and blue socks.

Also, maybe we should give a name to our protest group..."Spirit of 1912" or similar, to show our feeling for the history of the club, something the Venkys have no understanding of at all.

Nice one PH. It'll probably be another 100 year before we win it again!

Let's hope the club take note. Maybe Gerald will mention it at half time in between chuckles with Katie.
