At the end of the day we have to progress and change with the times. Im not against the appointment of a set piece coach per se but if the game in general is heading down the route of over-reliance on set plays and a return to the prehistoric tactic of hurling a long ball into the mixer then that's regression not progression in my book. What next? Stop fannying about passing the ball around at the back, and invariably giving it away, and get the keeper to launch it long in the general direction of two players up top? Now that's a back to the future change I wouldnt necessarily mind. On a similar note I went to an evening with Sam Allardyce event at Ewood after he was appointed and he reckoned if you could become the most successful team in the League at scoring from free kicks, that would put you tenth on its own. Dinosaur,or ironically now the way some trends are going, ahead of his time? Quote
