I wonder if the owners are aware of how short we are player wise? As caring owners of a football club, surely they are asking Gregg and Steve a few questions through their man on the ground? I'd imagine Suhail Pasha is at least feeding back that their investment currently isn't strong enough to challenge at the level they might be expecting it to.

I've done business with major Indian companies in the past before and quite often their processes for spending money are excessive even when they have it to spend, it can take months. I fear even though our owners keep things ticking over, they may never operate at the level needed to be effective in a football transfer market. We're yet to see that.

The signs are there and I think in the past this has worked in our favour when it comes to outgoings but the reality is we are now at a stage where we also need to sell players more proactively and renew contracts quicker. Transfers with fees in and out seem a problem for Rovers, they take a lot of time.

If what I suspect is right I don't think we'll see the number of signings we need before the deadline. 2 or 3 in at best. Perhaps 1 permanent that's already been worked on. Ultimately I suspect again after this transfer window that the owner's will never be a good fit, not unless major changes are made to their processes.

Hope I'm proved wrong next week but the signs are there as others have mentioned that their business model doesn't fit owning a football club particularly one like ours that doesn't generate a lot of revenue.

Same owners who allowed players contracts to run down, and then allowed them to walk away, without us receiving any money for them?

  2. Guys guys, remember the good ol days when we enjoyed a good laugh? Okay maybe the newer younger board members are a bit more serious these days.

Plenty of you are going to be more upset once the window shuts, and we haven't signed anybody else, or brought in a couple of no name players. Then you can really get upset

How often has this club disappointed the fans, and many of you continue to hold onto hope that Venkys have changed? C'mon, if you're getting upset and annoyed at some light hearted fun, then boy I can't wait to see what some of you will be like once the window closes

Brereton will be sold on deadline day, with no replacement lined up. We will have to use Dack/Markanday as makeshift strikers, or use Vale or somebody else to try and get us goals. If you haven't seen this movie before, then maybe you should go back and have a look

I see a couple of you have taken this the wrong way.

I'm not giving up my season ticket and taking up gardening - I'm just realistic. It's a squad game and we don't have a deep enough one at the moment.

I'm delighted with how things are going under our new dynamic duo - but it's clear for anyone with eyes that a promotion campaign is going to be extremely difficult at present.

    What's wrong with Gardening? 😊

That's also nonsense. If you hand in a transfer request the only thing you forfeit are any potential benefits arising out of a loyalty bonus.

If on the other  Club attempts to sell a player who doesn't particularly want to move, he either chooses not to move and that's the end of it  or negotiates some sort of arrangement with the selling Club about the remainder of his contract if he'd have to move elsewhere for less money.

He's not entitled to have his contract paid up as of right on leaving.

Nonsense... You are the one asking to leave the club, not the other way around. Why should the club pay you for remaining term of your contract, when you are not going to adhere to that length of it? You can't expect the club, to pay you, when you are telling them hey I want out. In theory, you are breaking that agreement, not the club

Russell Martin wants to play like Man City and be the Pep Guardiola of the championship which is fine with me but you got to deliver results and have a end product. I've seen a few people/pundits suggest they could be top 6 this season. I think they are way off that.

So Russell Martin wants to be like Tony Mowbray?

That's clearly wrong - why do you think then that players on big deals who have become surplus to requirements opt to sit out their deals rather than move for less money elsewhere?

According to you they'd get paid twice!

Well he isn't wrong either. A player who hands in a transfer request, forefeits any future wage payments left on his contract. If the club says we want to sell you ala the FDJ situation at Barca, then it's different as the club has to include whatever is owed for the amount of years left on his contract..

Players get a loyalty payment for not requesting the transfer they don't get their contracts paying in full if the money on offer is the same or above their current deal.

If Brererton was on 20k per week here and we sold him to a team who were only paying him 15k per week then we would have to pay him off that 5k per week(if a settlement couldn't be reached) not the full 20k

    Barca owe De Jong wages

Barca only owes FDJ once he leaves, the wages that were deferred. The whole issue with FDJ, is that Barca want to sell him, but only for a fee that will allow them to pay FDJ the wages owed to him. The only club that has offered enough, is Man United who have offered 85mill. FDJ doesn't want to join United, which is causing issues.
