I disagree, tey can flex their muscles all they want but out of the top 6 they are not the best team and certainly not the favourites to go up in second spot. Too many additions, too many players upsetting the applecart and the current squad at bournemouth doesnt sound the best option to me.

Agree here. It could work for Bournmouth, but what happens to the regular playing staff. Are they just pushed to the bench, and will they be happy to play second fiddle to a new player.

Pete O'Rourke saying Cantrell might be on loan to Bournemouth. Are they just out to sabotage us?

Nah, Bournmouth know that if they want to get promoted, they have to bring in quality. If Venkys dont let Mowbray and Parkes get their players in, then we cant blame anybody but ourselves for the failure to strengthen

I disagree with the notion that we’re ‘letting’ the players contracts run down as if we’re not attempting to do something about it. Clearly Rothwell, Lenihan, BBD, Nyambe all think they can attract PL interest and have refused to sign improved contracts. Apparently we offered Armstrong the best deal we could possibly afford and he turned it down, understandably because he wanted a prem move.

We don’t know the numbers involved but if the players mentioned above are determined to hold out for a big move (Rothwell’s antics this week seem to confirm that..), there’s next to nothing we can do about it.

If you were in Brereton’s position, would you sign a new deal with us on any terms?? No, obviously not, he’d just be making it harder to get out in the summer. Is that our fault too? Or should we have tied him down 18 months ago when he still had 3 years left on his deal and could barely get in the team? Fans would have been furious.

It’s easy to blame the club but if the players are refusing to sign new contracts, what more can we do??

Those players refusing to sign, are pretty selfish if you ask me..

Signing a new deal, doesnt mean they need to stay with us next season. But at least it allows the club, to generate some money, instead of losing them for nothing. Sign a 1or 2 year deal, and give us at least an opportunity to generate some funds. But by not signing, they putting us in a position, where we stood by them, gave them opportunities to show their worth, helped through the youth system etc and not making anything off them.

  4. Its amazing how some people still rate Gallagher. Sorry guys, for a big like him, to not be able to get into physical battles is concerning.

After 10 to 15 mins, i would have hauled him off, because as a manager, you shouldnt be afraid to make those sort of changes, whether its 10 mins in or 50 mins in.. we got undone by poor officiating, but also undone by a strange team selection, and poor performances by the players.

Now you are just trying to be difficult.

It's not everyday we are able to pick up the top Academy performer from a top PL club where all their fans are up-in-arms for losing him. We usually struggle to loan these kind of players, let alone buy on a long contract.

As for no senior experince, Rheda showed it's still possible to make an impact. It should be possible to keep a long term perspective as well as bringing in more players with more senior experience.

And dont forget that young Liverpool player we had here, whats his name now again? Harvey somebody 😜

Given we sold Armstrong for a headline fee of £15m before Newcastle's chunk and the owners completed the exercise with the training ground, I would hope that the reluctance to meet the fee for Maja is down to concerns about his fitness rather than ones about the size of the fee per se.

With our best chance of going up in years, (and quite possibly for many years to come) on offer,  If we're not prepared to reinvest such a small chunk of the Armstrong proceeds on the chance of promotion it would be hard to escape the conclusion that no-one at the Club is really that serious about promotion.

A gift horse has unexpectedly fallen our way, let's not look it squarely in the mouth!

    100%

If Venkys cant be arsed to provide what is needed to go up, then im afraid they should just sell the club to somebody, thats willing to back Mowbray
