Whoever the source is, even if there is no source…it’s no less believable than those basking in us ‘having our pants pulled down’ at £2.5m for a player that no one has actually seen play.
I see your point but I think it's only right if someone details the figures and structure of an undisclosed fee as fact that they be asked how they know this. I'm certainly not calling that person a liar but to state something like that, they should be challenged so people know if it's trustworthy.

Barnsley have a greed a few with Poznan for Helik of 1.2 mill. Now I'd like to think that at that price we would've been all over that one. The only thing giving me hope is that we're looking to spend more on someone like Van Hecke. Otherwise, if we end up with crap loan and fed some nonsense about blocking pathways when a big polish international centre half was available for pittance... I won't be happy.
There's a lot riding on how good a signing they make at centre half to define if this is a good or bad window because right now it's pretty poor and shows a lack of support for JDT.

We have paid £500k upfront, £1.5m in performance based payments based on promotion, appearances and goals as well as a 20% profit sell on clause. I think that is pretty low risk transfer to be honest.
With all due respect, how do you know this?

surely the coaching staff who were here last year, johnson and lowe, will be urging broughton to have a go at getting jpvh back here, especially as we are a centre back light, even if it`s on loan, his contract runs out at the end of the season,we could swoop for him then on a permanent
Doesn't make any business sense to loan him and lose him for nothing. They either sign him to a new contract and loan him or sell him now. I think we have a better chance of getting back on a loan rather than perm.

Considering Sharpe is saying there's decent money to spend on a centre half, I couldn't forgive them if they let Van Hecke swan off on a permanent to somewhere like Sheff Utd after signing Ahmedhodzic and Khadra.... Or Boro even.
If it's possible to get it done, it needs to get done, no excuses.

Not sure what message it sends if Szmodics walks straight into the first team. Dack should be given a chance to prove himself first.

I guess how Sammie does in a Rovers shirt is the only important thing but the opinions on Peterbrough's messageboard suggest that they think he's not that big of a loss and question if he's good enough for the championship. Hopefully with better players around him he can prove those opinions wrong. Not only do we need him to be good enough for this league, we need him to push us on to have a good season.
Have to say, not really convinced by this one at all.

Staying the obvious but an out and out goalscorer is what we need. I'm not massive fan of attacking central midfielders all over the park. Give me proper line hugging wingers and a striker who knows where the back of the net is!
Anyway - welcome on board Sammie👍
Well, we were trying to sign Antonio Colak who ended up at Rangers who is your archetypical big centre forward goalscorer. Don't know if that's still something we're looking to add.

Sorry Neal I’ve just posted this, didn’t see you’d beat me to it. Fully agree with your sentiments though.
No apology necessary fella 👍

If Chelsea let Colwill go to Brighton as part of the Cucarella deal, that leaves Van Hecke further down the pecking order. Fingers crossed.

We have a lot of attacking mids... Dack, Hedges, Dolan, Markanday and Szmodics... All potential first teamers, how do they all fit in? Feel were more pressing issues that needed sorting out.
Nevertheless... Welcome Sammie, prove to be better than the rest.

O i'm sure Styles will leave, i think their fans have had enough of him...Its just whether he comes to us over someone else...Bournemouth, Fulham & Forest were all originally interested in him but i think since have fallen away...
Recently its been us & Bejiktas...You just hope & pray someone like Boro don't come in for him.
I genuinely think the hype around him has worn off and whatever Barnsley were originally asking, they ain't gunna get. Can't see many clubs coming on for him now.
-
Strangely enough, I'm getting more confident that Styles will probably happen. Especially if Barnsley's form doesn't pick up after their opening defeat. Just a hunch but after seeing him be at fault for the goal, not tracking the runner might just make them feel like his head isn't in it and they need to get a deal done.

Never get anything at Swansea. I'd take a point and run if offered.

Watched highlights of Barnsley, Styles at fault for the goal, didn't check his shoulder and track his runner. Seems like he played the 90 in CM.

Great goal from Harry Darling yesterday for Swansea. One I really wished we would've signed. ame game, Obafemi with contender for miss of the season.

Buckley really is a lovely player to watch. Body feints, first touches that create space for himself and take opposition players out of the game, outside of the foot passes, nice passes through the lines. Proper footballer.
He did that yesterday where he received the ball across himself and dropped his shoulder, took 2 players out of the game instantly and turned defence into attack. A exhale of appreciation went around the ground in admiration of his sheer awareness. I can only remember Tugay last getting appreciation for something like. Clever little f****r.

Good day out. Chuffed for the manager to start with a win. This is how I saw it....
Kaminski, played well but as usual his distribution almost cost us again. Otherwise, good game. 6.5/10
Brittain, solid. Just did his job and all this talk of him being either crap or amazing is nonsense. He did his job, that's it. 7/10
Ayala, a class apart. Experience, nous, a leader. 8/10
Wharton, solid, did his job, was comfortable. 7/10
Pickering, did ok. Wouldn't go as far as to call him solid as he gave the ball away one took many times. Feel he could get exposed and be a weak link but it seems more a confidence issue than ability to me. 6/10
Trav, wonder goal, solid. 7/10
Bucky, like a white Kante at times with his reading of the game and turning over possession. Such a clever little player, technically a class above. 8/10
Hedges, this is a wierd one. I think the good parts and the bad parts are standing out in different people's minds, hence the mixed reviews. For me it's much of the same as I've already seen, plays with intensity, looks busy and tidy at times but ultimately I don't see him as much of an attacking threat. Powderpuff is the word I've used before and I think it's pretty accurate but he was a bit grittier today at least. Has his moments but I don't see enough shots or individual brilliance to see him as someone who could make us a top 6 side. Good squad player, a solid performance but I think someone like Bowler would be an instant improvement.
Diaz, showed his ability in fits and starts. Even in one of his more quieter games by his standards, still somehow manages to look a standard above what's on the pitch due to his pace, size and physicality. 6.5/10
Gallagher, meh. Should have been down the middle instead of Vale. Ineffective. Poor. 5/10
Vale, I don't want to be too critical because its the lads home debut but he looked a fish out of water to me. I think people are being a bit too nice in their assessments because he's one of our own but putting that aside and being honest... He looked too small and not quick enough. Having not seen him before I expected him to be quick at pressing but he looked knackered before half time and got bullied at times. There were some tidy moments but I think a loan to a league 1 side would be ideal or at least keep giving him 15/20 mins here and there but starting? Absolutely no way. 5.5/10
Dolan, was an instant improvement on Vale. Trickery, quick in the press and just a general pain in the arse. Unlucky not get an assist for Diaz. Should be starting. 6.5/10
Overall, I'm not sure how much we learned from today. It was a nice starter for us, especially for the manager. Lifts confidence and expectations. They were absolutely woeful and much the same as they were last season at Ewood. An almost carbon copy performance.
JDT's blue and white army!

He was poor
Have to 100% disagree on this. He was solid, especially late on the game, won a few key 1v1's. Was a very promising start and a great defensive performance all round. A firm 7/10.

It does feel a bit of a scraping the barrel type signing to be honest. As if we've bid for the A list players with our "healthy budget" and been turned down... Now we're on the C list. Really underwhelmed by this one.

I really hope we're not spending too much on Szmodics. This isn't filling me with promise for the rest of our business.

It isn’t a quote though - just the writer’s view.
yeah, what I'm saying is that Sharpe has obviously asked the question and has only said a move being close isn't true, he hasn't said that it won't happen.
