  1. Stopped watching it awhile back when they decided to write shoddy fanfiction instead of respecting the source material.

I've never read the books, but from what I've heard they're not really of a high literary standard, but they have made for a good rich source of material and blue print for an outstanding tv show.

Last night's Game Of Thrones. Wow .... just wow. Having not (yet) read the books I never saw THAT coming - took me a good 30 mins to digest it properly afterwards! Outstanding stuff - easily the best thing on TV by a country mile for me.

this was my situation and reaction as well, gobsmacked.

I'd personally still put breaking bad slightly ahead of it as the best show on tv(ever-ish!) as its a truly original show that shocks and surprises on a weekly basis and the dialogue is also of a much higher standard than that of thrones, but then you also have mad men and homeland(+ a few others) that both also great, so I guess it just has to come down to personal preference.

  2. Just watched the 1st episode of The Vikings(a new lovefilm instant exclusive show), Really promising, high quality show, its kind of a mix of Spartacus/game of thrones but About Vikings, its quite historically accurate(from what I gather)

and I'm also really liking Banshee, a pretty original show, some really brutal fight scenes(and borderline pornographic sex scenes, though they are relevant to the story!)

  3. No it's really odd isn't it? But they do still manage to continually defy gravity don't they? They must be dong something right I guess. :glare:

they all seem to have at least halve a dozen staff behind the counter as well, no way there making their money from selling cheap pizzas and kebabs!

  4. Todays starting 11 was definitely a team to build on(minus Nuno and maybe a couple more), our dodgiest area seemed to be ariel defending, they had at least 4 clear opportunities to score from headers(luckily today they missed the target!), all our players seemed well motivated and organised.

Bowyer definitely the man for the job(Unless a very good and well respected experienced manager is brought in)

  5. I watched Uk film 'Sightseers' last night, serial killer/horror/drama/romance/comedy(in its blackest form) really good well made low budget film from Ben Wheatley(kill list), its about a new couple that go on a campervan trip around the Yorkshire countryside.....stuff happens along the way....!

  6. I like to make my own burgers sometimes, i usually just buy the cheapest pack of beef mince in asda(under £2), give the meat a real good pounding(hmmhmm!) fill it out with some breadcrums and ingreidients of your preferance(il like thinly sliced hot chillis and little cubes cheddar), an egg white to hold it together and seaoning(salt, pepper+ il like smoked paprika). also sometimes like too use the cheap Beef/pork mixed minced meat asda sell(about£1.50 a pack i think), i wouldnt bother buying good qulity lean minced meat, i find its to chewy for burgers(you need that fat to keep it juicy and tender)

and i imagine if you make a batch you can put them in the freezer for a month or so.

  7. Hoping to watch Django Unchained soon. Tarantino hasn't made a good movie since Pulp Fiction so let's see.

    Are you kidding!!!(outrageous comment :o )

Yes Pulp Fiction was a Truly 'great' film thats above anything else hes done(and better than most modern directors will ever do), but still all his films have been at least 3star(out of 5) movies other than death proof(and even thats more entertaining than most films.

p.s. i went too see Django and it is his best most solid, mature(ish!) movie since Jackie Brown(two very different kinds of films though!) and if you don't at least find django fun as a good entertaining popcorn movie, then id be worried for you ;)

  8. Only recently joined netflix, suprised at the amount of great content they have(especially tv shows), Im probably watching a lot more on netflix now than on cruddy old sky&freeview. Currently addicted too Sons of anarchy on netflix(After getting through all of the pish funny californication)seriously great show once you get past the cheesy 1st season.

  9. Do you have a picture of Gerrard at the Bukhara? I have to say I find it hard to believe he would go all the way to a restaurant in between Blackburn and Preston as opposed to Liverpool and Manchester.

I do enjoy the food at Bukhara, but something seems odd...

Your time in the big old land of Oz is making you forget how small northwest england actually is.

  10. Gotta laugh at the ethical argument for industrialized slaughter.

    absolutely, its just total hypocrisy.

you either eat meat or you don't, the only thing i try to choose is meat raised and slaughter in the uk(as we do seem to have far higher animal welfare standards than most countries in the world)
