  1. This weekend I have been mostly listening to;

    Grandaddy - "The Sophtware Slump"

    PJ Harvey - "Stories from the Cities, Stories from the Sea"

    and a bit of Buffalo Tom thrown in for good measure.

  2. I actually went to Wigan in 99? Our first game at the JJB. We filled the stand behind the goal (capacity 6k approx?), so they had to open the one down the side.

    Thats more than you have ever took to the JJB.... not denying your visit had a bigger overall gate....as being such a big Premiership flirting club, you were probably more of a draw to the rugby loving natives...

    (smug smiley sticking tongue out)

    Really?

    I thought the away support at the JJB was always situated down the side.

    Having said that, this is getting pretty boring.

    Even Roverites are on here talking about attendances. Who the hell cares?

    As for you Longsider. Forget making the tea. Time to get back to bed. I suspect your sister must be getting cold.

  3. The guy who went to 'attack' Savage, what was the point? You came ran around like an idiot and then went for a Police Officer.

    It would appear that the guy who confronted Savage and co is a known 42 year old hooligan from Nelson. He is already banned from every ground in the country.

    So one of the largest security operations in Lancashire not only let a known hoolie into the ground, but on to the pitch as well!

  4. Been looking back at gate figures etc for last time we met.

    Attendance at Hallowed Turf 21,369 of which 2,979 were visitors.

    Attendance at deadwood 23,442. We had to get tickets at front of jackwalkers stand and from there the Burnley looked full bar the first few rows left unsold for security reasons.

    Now u lot were on the pushing for/on the verge of promotion but still thousands upon thousands of empty seats.

    Any answers to that one? (Hopefully a bit more intelligent and not of the usual moronic type)

    I have stayed out of this ridiculous argument over attendance figures until this load of hokum.

    Burnley returned 300 tickets to Ewood unsold.

    And that's a FACT.

    There were no Burnley fans at Ewood that day in anywhere but the Darwen End

    Live with it.

  5. Support him if he plays, getting behind the lads right now is vital

    There lies the key.

    We might not like what Ferguson has done but if he pulls on the shirt we should support him.

    Call me naive, but I like to think if he is selected to play he will be professional enough to earn his wage. If he doesn't then boo him all you like.

  6. Morph, just make fun of Eddie Vedder's short hair. That'll learn 'im.

    Well done Radaghast.

    Vedder got his hair cut a while ago. Its good to know that amongst the bilge you obviously listen to you still keep an interest in decent bands. wink.gif

  7. A couple of quotes from a very good article by Joe Lovejoy;

    On Barry Ferguson

    “Clubs covet good players at other clubs. It happens all the time. We made our bid and it was ultimately accepted. The situation with Barry is not the same. The bid Rangers have made is unrealistic. They’ve offered £3m for a guy who cost us £6.5m. We won’t be doing business for that money.”

    And quite damningly on the previous regime

    “How well I’m doing is for other people to judge, but in the time I’ve been here, I think I’ve turned it around, not only in terms of results but in the way the players train and prepare. The players now have more information about who they are playing against, and because of that they’re not going into games blind any more. They know exactly what they’ve got to do. Given all that, I expect better performances and results.”

    "Not going into games blind anymore!" Blimey! What were Souness, Saunders, et al up to?

  8. Still, Alls Well That Ends Well as that Billy Shakespeare chap once said and the whole convoluted sage does now seem rather Much Ado About Nothing etc etc bad Shakespeare puns blah blah and so on.

    I wonder if Robbie said to the Birmingham board;

    "Good night, good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow."

    To which Gold probably replied "O villain, villain, smiling, damned villain!"

    Meanwhile at Ewood John Williams could be thinking "By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes."

  9. If we have "tapped up" Savage then we deserve all the stick we are getting.

    However, the thing that really sticks in my throat is the slagging we are getting from Bruce and the directors of Birmingham City.

    Is this the same Birmingham City that "encouraged" Steve Bruce to walk out on his previous job while still under contract? The same Steve Bruce who is now preaching about honouring contracts who had to go on gardening leave before taking up his present position whilst compensation was agreed?

    What right have they to take the moral high ground?

    Kettles and pots.....

  10. You lucky so and so.

    I have been to the Friday of test matches at OT and Headingley over the last few years and it is always a great day.

    The Western Terrace at Headingley is one hell of an experience. But I won't wear my Rovers shirt next time I go. ohmy.gif

    Old Trafford really needs money spending on it as the facilities are now quite poor.

    Still, playing the Aussies is an event not to be missed.

    Enjoy!

  11. Very dissapointing.

    We didn't lack effort but couldn't create hardly one goal scoring opportunity.

    Another thing today confirmed, Spurs are NOT a big club and are totally and utterly boring. Once they went a goal up they had no other objective than to defend, defend, defend.

    Oh and step forward Andy Todd. MOM.
