  1. On another note, Why is it people only care about soldiers when a famous person dies? the amount of ignorance i've seen comparing the deaths of service men and Gary Speed is just beyond believe.

Mm that annoyed me too. Although the guy who posted it is a boxer and a military trainer so I decided against arguing.

It's not like soldiers know the risks when they sign up to the job or anything!

Still brings a tear to the eye thinking about Speed. Can't quite take it in.

  2. It costs more for Chris Moyles' annual salary than it does to run the entire 6Music station for a year. It's disgusting, I hope their are real protests. I know a lot of musicians and DJs are very angry, many have already spoken out.

    BBC Salaries in 2007

while Radio 1 breakfast host Chris Moyles took home £630,000.

Since then he has taken a 20% pay cut along with a few other high profile BBC members of staff.

From what I understand cutting BBC 6 music will save in the region of £6m-£7m(i presume annually). So not sure where you get the comparision from but it seems a bit off. Jonathon Ross earned £18m, although he is leaving so there will be a big saving there. Graham Norton gets a big salary, maybe BBC should chop him.

BBC 6 music gets 695,000 listeners a week

Radio 1, over 10 million. Chris Moyles alone gets 7,7m.

    Radio 2, 13m

    Radio 3, 1,874,000

    Radio 4, 9m

    Radio 5, 6m

    1xtra, 531,000

    Figures from: Mediauk.com

At the end of the day if it isn't getting a large enough audience then it isn't what the majority are after and if cuts need to be made then somethings have to suffer. Is 1xtra for the chop as well?

It's still at the consultation stage so if you make your views known to the BBC board they will take them into consideration.

  3. We sell him to West Ham and we all know what is going to happen in just over a weeks time when we play them!

Selling to a relegation rival isn't a smart thing to do, but i suppose if it is where the money is then we have to.

Benni has a few years yet and I bet he starts every game he isn't injured. Wait for the goals to flow in.

  4. Yes - he is a decent finisher - but he is rarely in the right place these days anyway. He is frequently off-side, he has no pace - and IMO isn't suited for the Premiership.

    Our best finisher!

His first season proved he is suited to the premiership, since then he has been in and out the team but always manages to get goals.

He is lazy but that is a trait that is easily overlooked when you consider his goal return. I'd much rather have 2 tap in goals, than have roberts bang 2 straight at the keeper but work really hard whilst doing it. Andy Cole was cut from the same cloth and he is one of the highest scorers of all time in the premiership.

  5. Big mistake to lose Benni and keep Roberts. Especially when we will be losing Di Santo as well.

Benni scores goals, I know I've said it for a long time but if you play him he will score goals. He may not work hard for the team, or whatever Sam likes to call it, but at the end of the day strikers get paid a lot of money to score goals and he doesn't find it difficult.

  6. I'm slap-bang in the middle of the lower tier BBE (sometimes have my flag with me). I TRY to chant, but it takes forever for ANYTHING to get going. We have miserable sods sat around us. I have mentioned the bloke behind me who told me to sit down and STFU, have I not?

Your not slap bang in the middle! I am! :P

The guy next to me does my head in. All game he moans at MGP, so we try Treacy and he just moans at him. Now MGP plays well so he just moans about the lack of financial backing. On the other side they are a family and have good chats with the grandad.

It depends on the match and how it is going as to how much people chant. It is a lot better than when I first started going mind you.

  7. i dont know that carol voderman was on these message boards

You don't have to be Carol Vorderman to read the posting guidelines (especially 5. Take care with spelling / grammar).

  8. Just like Jose wanted Shevchenko i suppose or now that Roman has told Big Phil that he wants at least 1 russian in the team. Remember Smertin?

As I said I'm not saying that Jo or Goofy aren't good players, they would be good additions but there is no way Hughes had any say what so ever in their purchase. They were being signed about a month before Hughes even came into post.

At Least the walker trust haven't told Ince that we're going to go ahead and buy someone without his consent. It's Hughes head on the chopping block next summer and personally i would like to be the person picking the players who are going to be my downfall.

  9. i reckon he won't have signed anyone who he thinks ain't good enough for his team

He didn't sign him. The owner specified that he should be signed along with Goofy. Hughes is putting a brave face on it but they weren't his decisions.

There is no doubting they are quality players but you can't just put world class players into a team and hope it works out. The players have to fit into the way the team plays. That's why Madrid have got rid of all their big names and now sign players who fit in, Barca are doing the same as well.

  10. Anyone see the Amy Crackhouse do at Glastonbury? Why anyone wanted to see her I don't know. Her songs are a bit crap, and she's an emaciated druggie. I bet alf the people there were seeing if she'd have a funny turn, and to say 'God she's rough'. She didn't disappoint on either score. No doubt she'll be dead by next year's Glasto and everyone will be declaring her a genius. What a waste of mediocrity.

She was awful yesterday and having seen the video 3 times i can't see any hands move towards her.

Not as bad as estelle on saturday who murdered all her songs.

On a brighter note some very good performances from: The Verve, The Wombats and the Pigeon Detectives.

  11. and the decision on whether or not they see out the length of their contract doesn't depend on them - it depends on me or the chairman," the Rovers boss maintained.

As highlighted he said it depends on the chairman. He asked to talk and we agreed, it's not like he has quit on teh back of him having another job or backed us into a corner to let him.

Rovers could have turned the approach down, I'm not sure where that would leave the situation, but we haven't.
