  1. Getting rid of McClaren would only half solve the problem. We still have underperforming players, no natural team balance, nor a bonafide striker who can hold the ball and wait for reinforcements.

McClaren is widely repsected as being a good coach. We all know that it doesn't always translate into being a good manager. The England primadonnas need someone they can respect and at the same time be a bit scared of. Terry Butcher anyone? He's free.

The way to solve that is to have a proper man manager who won't take any rubbish, whether that be from the fans, media, players, managers or the FA. A rebel if you will but someone who commands respect and isn't afraid of making the big decisions, such as dropping lampard. Compare that to McClaren who has no back bone and follows the media at every turn.

He may be a good coach, but considering the resources available to him at boro he really didn't do that well. Also according to ex-players, be it they may hold grudges, but his coaching techniques are outdated but what do you expect working under fergie. As for Butcher he doesn't strike me as the type of person you would want managing a club and he hasn't really lasted in his recent adventures.

My Solution: Mike Newell, England Manager :D

  2. They wanted to screw MH over the transfer fee... and having tried to pull a fast one that would have given them extra money to entice Neill with wages, offered him what I consider would be a comparatively (to the rest of the Liverpool back line) measly 30k a week.

Liverpool don't offer high wages to many players. Bellamy for example was offered a very high wage here and picked to move to liverpool at £35k. Liverpool Clearly defined their position to Neill and he picked the extra money over playing for a bigger club. There isn't anything wrong with that if that is the type of person you are.

You can't blame a club for trying to get a cheap deal on the player either, not that i actually like liverpool as a club.

  3. Berates the home fans, throws the capataincy back at Hughes and tells him "you didn't want me enough!"

Unless i have missed a statement from Lucash then i don't think he has thrown the captaincy back at hughes nor said anything out of turn about the fans.

The fans boo'ed him for not signing a deal which is fair enough, but he said it brings down the rest of the team so don't. Hughes tried to get him to stay and giving him the captaincy was never going to do that, so maybe a mistake by hughes there. His intentions had always been made clear after we wouldn't give him £45k a week.

Personally i would have liked him to stay but only had he signed a new deal and he wasn't going to do that, so best of luck with West Ham in the championship and it's a good deal for us.

  4. I hope he will be playing against Man City this weekend.

The game's LIVE on Starhub Cable TV in Asia at 1.10am!

Severly doubt it, he hasn't played much for brum over the past few months and says he needs a bit of match time to get back to full fitness. Bench at most i would think, get a few reserve/closed door matches under his belt then into the thick of it.

  5. Has nobody ever left their job for a new one with better wages?

I couldn't care less if that is his reason, but he should have the balls to come out in the press and say that. Rather than rolling out all this 'New Challenge' crap. Not that we'd give him any credit for coming out and saying he wanted the money.... :P Money Grabber!

  6. The problem is in today's game players don't hang around for too long. So I have stopped getting names printed. If I had to I'd get Savage or Mokoena - just because they have signed new deals ;)

I thought i had a curse on players, the summer after i got their names on my shirt they left. Guess thats what happens with big name players. Only Friedel and MGP have broken that so far.

I will be getting Tugay on my shirt next season and may also get Dunn on the other.

  7. He is after a new challenge.

His challenge is trying to spend all his newly earned wages. He is really annoying me now, if he wanted to move to a bigger club then fair enough, but if he is playing liverpool for extra wages then that is a stupid career move. He would have fitted well on their bench.

  8. I guess it depends if Rovers have got anyone else lined up. If not then we have to sign Dunn, simple as that.

Problem is we now have no further time to make that judgement, we are probably talking tomorrow the deal with notlob could go through, but for some stalling by Dunny. So it's put up or shut up time for the board and they seem to be putting up, if only for the sake of improved attendance.

I also don't see why Brum would make it difficult for us to get him, sure they don't like us but if i were them i'd just rather be shot of him and have the money to bring in someone else. Rather than playing around and maybe scuppering both deals.

  9. I think big club can have 2 year extension option in his contract, which they might use in the summer so that Rovers or any other club have to pay money for him...

Dunn signed a 4 year deal in the summer of 2003 and within that deal there was the option of an extra year(s). However i don't see how this all works, because in theory he is in the last 6 months of his deal now, so should he not be allowed to negotiate a free transfer?

Birmingham would be stupid to keep him on for another year at the same wages just to spite us and miss out on over a million as well. Just can't see it. I still think Dunn has been very clever by talking to notlob and making sure the press found out.

edit: 53 starts in 3 1/2 seasons and 8 goals.
