Im actually of the belief that our current plight is purely down to the manager. The owners backed him and gave him time, he spoke of "journeys", yet here we are with 11 players gone, no clear direction on our style of play and no signings in

    They backed another clown, unfortunately

They backed another clown and let him run amok without supervision. The owners have the ultimate responsibility but don't take it seriously.

The club is in chaos and, as you point out, the clowns are being allowed to run the whole circus.

    Venky's out

  2. Rovers: Kaminski (Stergiakis, 75), Nyambe (Magloire, 75), Lenihan (c) (Carter, 46), Ayala (Annesley, 75), Pickering (Cirino, 75), Davenport (Garrett, 62), Buckley (Nolan, 75), Rothwell (Weston, 75), Chapman (Gilsenan, 75), Butterworth (McBride, 62), Armstrong (Vale, 62).

Assuming Armstrong is going, then even with Travis, Dack , Gallagher and Wharton added to that squad it looks paper thin to me.

  3. I see the full accounts are now available on the Companies House web site.

It looks to my untrained eye that the figures and reports were all signed and approved in December 2020.

With Mowbray stating that we have missed out on some transfer targets due to the embargo for late filing of the accounts, it begs the question why were they not filed at the earliest date possible after internal approval ?

There may be valid reasons - anyone any ideas ?

  4. I just went on Rovers.co.uk and clicked on 'Important information ahead of AFC Fylde v Rovers' and got the message 'page not available'.

The AFC Fylde site, however, is excellent and has full details of how and where to get a pre match Covid test.  Apparently, there was a special test centre set up at Ewood today for fans wanting to go to the match ( according to the Fylde website ).

I love this. It speaks to my heart.

It could be delivered by Olivier! It is our version of Henry V Crispian's Day speech lol

Exactly. A superb, accurate and beautifully articulated post by @Rolo PB

On St Crispin's day the troops went into battle inspired by the speech. We fans need to do the same to rid the club of this Venky scurge.

    Reclaim the Rovers

Didn't do last time, so not certain why now would be any different.

TBH I think TM got a bit of a pass last year with no fans in the ground - I am sure the natives would have been vocal considering the run we went on.

Rather than boycotting - why not go to Ewood - cheer the boys on during the match - and then voice your displeasure towards TM at the end of the match (or half time if the mood suits you).

You are right, there is always the option to show displeasure in the ground but Venky's won't even hear about it. We need to do something that will make them take notice.

I don't know what you base that optimism on?

It's hope rather than optimism, and a desire to reclaim the club for the fans. We have to do something.

I know a lot of Rovers fans will not boycott but I think it's our only weapon ( I'm aiming this at Venky's rather than Mowbray ). If everyone boycotted a single match, imagine the impact. Will it ever happen ?

What did Steve Jobs say when he started Apple? "I'm aiming to get 1% of the market and take it from there"

The thing is though over the last 4 seasons we havent brought much money in through player sales. The only player of note sold has been Raya in that time for an initial 3 million.

I'm not a venky apologist ,Im in agreement that they are terrible owners but I don't think it can be argued that they haven't backed the manager in the market over the last few years and even before that.

Ain't we under threat of an embargo due to overspending??Was the embargo under Bowyer due to overspending aswell?

It's through their disinterest and stupidity we are in the position we are in not because they won't spend money,...200 million tells us they have spent and lost a fortune on us.

I agree - total incompetence. They make the same mistakes over and over again. We've been here before where we need to sell and can't replace.

What's the point in having mega rich owners who will spend money but can't be bothered to have any real interest in the correct running of the club.

Thanks. Puts Crooke's and Sharpe's efforts to explain the embargo in a bad light.

That article seems to confirm what has been construed from earlier reports - namely we're in a 'soft embargo' at present due to late submission of accounts.....but not a full blown one unless we fail FFP/P&S, which is not yet known.

Which makes you wonder why they didn't file the accounts as soon as possible to get out of the 'soft embargo' as other clubs did. Maybe they know what's coming after filing them ?

No way whatsoever the owners will let AA go for £10m imo. If Clubs don't get a bit more realistic with their valuations he might not be going anywhere.

I agree to some extent but if we don't accept current offers he will go for nothing at the end of the season. We are not in a strong position really.

How can it be a red herring. If it’s delayed at Companies House the EFL can’t act on them. They have to get their ducks in a line. Are you a ITK regarding the financial state of the club or just a glass half empty guy

The way I understand it is that the EFL have probably had the accounts and projections for a while but won't make a FFP judgement until the final, signed off accounts are received.

Rovers will have sent their final signed accounts and projections to EFL at the same time that they filed them at Companies House.  They can now make a judgement on our FFP situation based on the data provided. The fact that the Companies House process is a lagging a little makes no difference and will not affect the decision of the EFL.

I’ve read the LT article again (twice), and I don’t get that impression. It’s a delay at Companies House due to COVID backlog. Not an issue with the submission. Has he wrote something on the tinternet?

The Companies House delay is a red herring. The only thing that matters is EFL approval of the accounts and projections.

You will never, ever get a total boycott under these owners. There is a substantial number of fans that don’t particularly have an issue with the Rao’s  - semi regular LT stories of ‘cash injections’ will only reinforce their views. Or if they do, they see putting up with a badly run club as part and parcel of fandom.

So feel free to keep wistfully dreaming of it, ‘the message it will send’ etc - but what will actually happen is what always does here, more and more will just walk away - and we will see a dwindling of support down to mid 80s levels.

You are probably right - I don't think a total boycott would be possible at any club, although Blackpool got pretty close.

Having said that, we have to try. We need to take some action whether it is protest and/or boycott. Simply accepting the situation and doing nothing because 'it'll never work' is not an option.

Venky's will leave at some point, we need to speed the process up by any means necessary.

Administration isn’t as simple as that though is it? Debts have to be paid to creditors at agreed rates. Players will be sold on for buttons, our up and coming players would be snapped up, the academy would be closed, the u23 team disbanded, points deducted meaning an inevitable second relegation and all that added to a full rebuild! By then what support we have left will have lost all interest Brockhall would have been sold on, ground would be in worse condition than it is now, tv money gone etc etc etc. In my view administration is not an option.

Whether it would be a springboard for a rejuvinated club or the point of no return, administration will probably happen when Venky's tire of paying millions of pounds on something they have no interest in. May as well get it over with sooner rather than later.

When it happens I'll be first in the queue for a season ticket - but not before.

If I can't hear both barrels on Radio Lancs, they will never hear it in Pune or even on the touchline.

Not like the deafening silence of an empty stadium would be heard.

I predict all I will hear is enthusiastic polite clapping.

With respect to getting rid of the owners, this is the answer. The only action that will gain any significant coverage or reaction.

A half full stadium will be explained away as people being cautious after Covid. Nothing changes.

We need to go on strike. Make a point with our absence.

    Operation Empty Ewood.

Problem is we are that lightweight that we need these kids with bits of quality to help keep our heads above water.

Could be argued that last season might have been a bigger mess without Elliots contributions. Season before Tosin helped us to midtable, relying soley on our kids in this div is a v dangerous game imo.

    That's true enough.

I guess the problem is summed up in the phrase "keeping our heads above water". If we needed loans to help in the final push for promotion then there is a more obvious benefit.
