Will they ever leave though? If they are as rich as everyone says they are, is it conceivable - though utterly bonkers - that they could just keep covering the losses for decades to come?
Sophie's choice - administration or perpetual occupation by Venky's

Wag got will stay, he’ll be assisting with the administration Venky’s will put us in once they’ve asset stripped us.
Unfortunately, I think this is closer to the truth than people like to admit.
Venky's will leave one day and what other outcome is there ? Unless we get promoted of course!!!
When they leave they can either forgo collecting the debts and sell at a reaonalbe price or they can try to recoup as much as possible which will mean administration. Is the proposed sale of Brockhall the beginning of the end ?
The day of reckoning will come at some point.

Probably been mentioned somewhere in the thread previously but with the club trotting out the line its the best way forward for the future and all that, do any other clubs operate with a similar set up to what we are proposing?
The only other club that I've seen mention this as a good idea is......Coventry.
This is a quote from their chairman, Mr Fisher, at the time of the proposed sale of their training ground:
“We do want to move to a site that allows us to co-locate the academy and the first-team. Can we please set aside the notion that this is some sort of asset-stripping exercise?"
-
What I find strange is that there has been absolutely no talk of changing the training facilities - quite the contrary, the club often mentions how good they are and new players always say they were part of the attraction when signing for the club.
The first mention is in a brief statement after the very detailed house building plan has been made public.
I really can't see why anybody can be arguing in favour of this, especially with the Coventry connection where they used the exact same excuse when trying to sell the training ground there.
Today's word of the day - Gullible.

Newspaper article from 2016. The Coventry City club statement sounds familiar. Not sure what the outcome was. Anyone know if the houses were built or if Coventry got a new inspirational training ground ?
Dozens of homes could be built on Coventry City football club's training ground in Rugby.
The site at Ryton-on-Dunsmore is suitable for up to 75 properties, according to the borough council's draft local plan.
A club statement said the six-acre site would not be built on until a replacement training site was found.
"The objective is to relocate to a new modern site, which will act as an inspirational environment and will better serve the needs of the football club as a whole," it said.

Our current form is relegation standard. Even during January -we were just lucky enough to play some other teams playing badly. Since history has a habit of repeating itself, I thought this comparison was interesting:
Hull 19/20 Rovers 20/21
Played Points Points
1 0 0
5 4 7
10 13 11
15 22 24
20 29 28
25 36 36
26 39 39
27 39 39
28 39 39
29 39 39
30 39 39

Let's hope it doesn't end like Coventry/Bolton/Bury/Portsmouth/a load of other examples.
It will. I think that, deep down, we all know that.

I notice nobody has bothered to predict the team yet. It will be interesting to see if Nyambe is back in favour or not.
If he picks the team based on performances in the last match, Mowbray will have some explaining to do if Nyambe is left out again.

The problem as I see it is that if we went into administration we would kore than likely end up in League Two, like Bolton.
I have a feeling that it won't take too long for Bolton to be back in the Championship with a clean slate, engaged, switched on owners and an excited, enthusiastic fanbase.
We will probably still be floundering about in mid table, absent owners, deeper and deeper in debt with a disenchanted fan base.
Venky's will leave one day, might as well get it over with.

So in terms of the slow build, what phase are we in ? I don't know the details of every players contract but to the best of my knowledge, Williams, Mulgrew, Bell, Johnson, Downing, Rothwell (?), Holtby, Chapman, Evans, Bennett and Nyambe will not be here next season. The loans will all be gone. So where does that leave us:
Players who we are probably happy with : Kaminski, Lenihan, Armstrong
Players who should come good but currently struggling : Dack , Travis
Players yet to prove themselves : Dolan, Davenport, JRC, Wharton, Buckley, Pickering
Duffers we are stuck with Gallagher, Brereton, Pears
Crocks Ayala
Have I missed anyone ? That is a paper thin, poor squad for next season. We would need to spend a pretty penny to build a promotion team based on that lot.
Slow build or demolition ?

Never forget, but try and forgive. Move forward together. They need to sit down and explain what happened. Would they do that? Until something along those lines happens, it shows they don’t care. It’s about trying to build the ‘broken’ trust. Venkey’s over to you...

The question we should all be asking ourselves is are we better than Watford, Brentford, Bournemouth, Swansea, Norwich? No we are not, the only one I see us still finishing ahead of is Reading but we are not the finished article yet. We have barely had the same back four...We need to continue building we don't deserve to go up but we should target it.
Rovers fans, like fans of all clubs, expect the owners to show some interest. It's not too much to ask.
If Venky's want a top manager they they can afford one.
Kenny Dalglish didn't turn up one day and ask if we had any jobs going. We had an owner who knew what he wanted and paid what was required.

Do you think he forgot about needing a RB or do you actually think he intended to play him there? Honestly, I don’t know
I thought he maybe got his squad numbers mixed up and he meant to sub Gallagher when Elliott went on and was then going to bring Nyambe off for Harwood-Bellis. Being so far away from the action and the fourth official, and not paying too much attention, it took him a while realise who had actually left the field in the first instance.- If that is the case it's a sackable offence.
On the other hand, if he intended to play Gallagher at right back that's also a sackable offence!
Beyond a joke now.

A quick look at the league table indictaes that we are a few places off the playoffs. The reality is we are 18 points off promotion and only 11 above relegation. Thats a massive gap between us and our aim of promortion. In terms of the fabled journey we are still stuck in the Slough of Despond and have made no progress at all.
Mowbray's behaviour has changed - he used to wear a jacket and tie and prowl the touchline. Now he looks totally uninterested and dishevelled. His interviews have become more bizarre by the day.
When he makes his substitutions it's like watching someone throw bread to the ducks - total chaos.
If Venky's were actually watching they would see all this too - but there's the rub. They don't care either. Probably watching the cricket. Heartbreaking really.

I am annoyed with myself for getting excited before the QPR match. I have managed to temper my expectations over the last few seasons but for some reason thought we might be able to finally become contenders this time - albeit unconvincinglly. I think it was the hope that 10 points from 12 without playing too well, may have injected some extra belief and determination into the team. No such luck! I really should have known better.
I can't understand the apparant lack of a spark or any real fight. I don't think Mowbray's and Venus' pitch-side demeanors help at all. They really look as if they aren't that interested slumped in their seats.
I noticed Charlie Austin constantly encouraging his team mates and shouting and generally looking like he wanted to win at all costs. That is the sort of character we are missing. I fully believe we had the personnel to beat QPR but we didn't have the application or the desire. Why is that ? I think I know the answer.
I notice that in the LT interview, after describing how we managed to lose, Mowbray ended with 'Never mind - move on to the next game' sums it up really !
I can't comment on the wine debate as I can't stand the stuff but I think I'll be crying into my Guinness for many Saturdays to come.

A big opportunity today to show we really are contenders.
I have been unconvinced by our form recently but can't complain about the points haul. Putting a consistant run together is so important and we have done that and confidence should now be high. If we can up the tempo and hit some really good form we will be in a great position. Most years one team emerges from the pack at just the right time.
Maybe that postponment against Swansea has helped because we had a rest before the Boro game and avoided a possible defeat which could have derailed the current run. Also injuries are clearing up and we seem to have strengthened the defence.
I am not Mowbray's biggest fan and to me he doesn't come across as someone who will inspire and galvanise the players but he now has a real chance disprove that. We are in a much better position than I ever expected a few weeks ago so here's hoping we can grasp the unexpected opportunity.
6 points from QPR and Preston and things will really get exciting.

I'd play Davenport rather than Travis. I think he is more solid defensively and more creative going forward.

I am still convinced Brereton was foisted on Mowbray due to certain criteria that were being followed at the time. He didn't resign over that and I don't think he will now - even if there is some substance in these rumours.
Mowbray is stubborn and if he feels there is interference from above he may just dig his heels in further.
