Looks like Franny Jeffers will be starting instead of the injured Roberts tonight.
Anyone know how bad Roberts' knee injury is?
1-1
This is why we still need one more striker! I said before a while back that unless we signed a 3rd good striker, we have still got a crap selection of frowards. I mean, who's better, Dickov or Jeffers?
We're gunna get stuffed tonight
-
well season ticket sales are up according to JW on the official site
-
fantastic news ??? only for the fact we have injury problems !
he was awful versus pompy
who wasnt?
-
Thank god.
Although we are still short of one defender for tomorrow unless Zura is fit or Ooijer signs in time
-
I think people need to get real ffs!How can you tell we're gunna let in a lot from set pieces after 90mins?!! Crazy! It's the first game of the season, Reading lost 2-1 at home to Plymouth on the first game of the season last season and we know what happened next.
I remember people after the first game of last season saying we were unable to play 442.
We'll put up a better performance on Wednesday for sure which should be enough to take at least a point from the game
-
Hughes said in his interview we may have some good news come Monday/Tuesday with regards to the defense, lets hope so.
Whats that? Dominic Matteo will be fit? Because Hughes has said Nelsen and Zurab are both out for Wednesday
Oh well, a win on Wednesday and today wont even be remembered and we'll be great again.

Spurs seal TV deal
Tottenham are close to agreeing a deal with ITV for coverage of their home Uefa Cup ties this season. The opening stages of the competition, starting with a knockout round in September, are likely to be screened on ITV4, but should Spurs progress to the group stage any juicy ties could find their way on to ITV1. Channel Five has done a similar deal with Newcastle for ties at St James' Park, starting with the second qualifying round match on August 24. Five will also attempt to pick up away games involving English clubs. ITV owns the rights to all matches from the quarter-final stage onwards.
The Guardian
So Spurs get ITV, Newcastle Channel 5, who do we get? Bloody Bravo or most likely the Wrestling Channel for us.
Actually though, it's not to a bad a thing if our games our not on TV(although im sure with tv and football these days we're bound to be on TV every Uefa game) as its would most probably mean higher gates

With Reid, Emerton and Tugay out of the midfield, i'd expect to see us line up with: R-L
Gally Savage Bentley Pedersen
-
that injury he picked up was like 5mins into the game and he was able to continue till half time, so hopefully it's not to serious
-
well they have no strikers!
-
More of the same? You saying Pompey are better than us??
Pompey 0
Rovers 2
Pedersen (27)
Roberts (79)
-
What exactly do you base that on Greggy?
based on his performances for Rovers and Preston. He's not even good enough for the League 1 IMO
-
He's crap.
nuff said.

to valuable??
The guy is past it! People bring up how good his set pieces are but have you ever thought that someone else(Lennon) playing there could have created more chances during open play!? He does nothing during open play and its like playing with 10 men.
Thank god he's dropped, but i expect McLaren will soon lose his bottle and bring him back in for the next game. This is just a move making him say to the public, "ohh, im not Sven"
-
maybe Huth just needs games?
Cant be good for him knowing that when he plays in the one off game for Chelsea, that no matter how well he plays, there is no chance he'll be playing the next game.
I trust Hughes(I mean the 2 defenders he's signed in Nelsen and Zurab have been quality- Axe is midfield ) and if he thinks he's a quality signing, who are we to say he's wrong.
-
Just a point about Nelsen- would those people who wanted Nelsen as captain still want him as captain now?

I always have ones about ghosts.
One I always have, is these ghosts living next door in their back garden and i jump next doors wall to try and fight them with the washing line pole. Always wake up before i get to hit them- although i wonder would it actually effect them being transparent n all!
-
massive hole? He's told 2 people. One a dutch guy who is unlikely to ever see a live Rovers match and the other, a drunk who will most likely have forgotten what he told him or probably spoke to the wrong player.
-
as i said only a few posts up- Tugay has a 3 match ban coming up which may be the reason why he's not been playing as much
-
Dont want to spoil everyones party about this result - but Alemannia Aachen site was saying that they had 8 players out injured for this game. Although how many of them were 1st teamers i dont know and we seemed to have 3 players out injured too in Todd,Emerton and Nelsen.
-
Didnt know where to put this but- Has Tugay got a 3 match ban from the start of this season?
Could be reason why he's not been playing much in pre-season
-
I had a phone call from Orvil about 20 mins in.
Agathe started, which surprised given comments on here...
The first goal was a corker.
This is Orvil we're on about.
It's Mokoena playing at right back according to Lee

Had we held on for nother 6mins......would Rovers be top 6 contenders according to you lot? My God, some of you do like a moan dont ya.
Yesterday was 100x's better than Saturday and as the players get back to full match fitness(which is what all our game is about) then we will improve.
