The ball has been completely untroubled by any Rovers player in the opposition half. Awful, awful performance so far.  Not convinced we've even put 3 passes together.

Not the agenda anymore? More keep it tight, play percentages, old fashioned stuff and nick a draw or 1-0? Suits lazy players who can just sit in and knock balls into channels.

Still, IF we nick a draw or even a 1 nil win, cue results are all that matters comments. Fair enough.

The irony is…the lower down the leagues we go, the cheaper the price…the more attractive we become as a resurrection project…

Yes that's an interesting possibilty. Rao's to sell off all assets, relegation, sell to bidder who will get the whole shebang cheaper. That idea doesn't sit with the 'limbo' hypothesis though -tread water in this league forever.

Edit Or tread water until such time as a young family member can become a manager...

    The comment:

"If you did a poll about Venky's, most supporters would want them out. The problem then is that someone would have to buy a football club which is in so much debt, so you've got to be careful what you wish for."

Isn't the "debt" just Venky's lending money to themselves?   It's absurd to think that the club would be sold without Venky's forgiving that debt.

That narrative needs to be sung loudly, which is a widely helf belief among both fans and media. That is, the idea that whoever would buy us would have to stump up £200m is a myth. The Rao's would have to absorb that figure (if indeed that often quoted figure is correct in the first place.) Happy to be corrected.

    Is he?

I remain hopeful and he deserves more time to get his system in place, but so far I see a reduction in our attacking threat with little improvement defensively. If anything, he's just benefited from having a slightly fitter squad than the one that JDT was dealing with for the final 5-10 matches of his tenure.

Agree on the fact that the change is really nothing spectacular: players returning to fitness and a percentage game for now. Fine if needs must. Numpties in charge desperate to survive this season.

So SWAG back in control although there could still be a power battle in the family as there has been for some time. Narrative all on track for now, fans pleased to see no tippy tappy, new project, let's kick on next season, let's give JE time, we're moving forward together......blah, yuk, yada.....

SWAG will have to be back pulling strokes in the summer as the budget is slashed further and the courts come knocking. Let's see how JE goes then.

Garrett/Chrisene/O'Riordan to come on as needed.
  6. Looks like the new narrative is (apart from nothing to see here, all is well), just survive this year and then we can have a ‘new dawn,’ a reset or even a new project under JE because he will have to have at least 3 windows.  And that is indeed logical and fair to give him that chance but there won’t be any new dawn because budgets will be cut further, an already weak team will be weakened, season ticket prices will rise and the Raos will be looking over their shoulders to the courts and the tax person.

  7. 7 league games in December (we won one)
No Gallagher, no Dolan, no Hedges, no JRC for all of them.
Hyam played in three I think.
Relying on Walhstedt, Leonard, Moran, Telalovic, Siggy, Garrett, Markandy

January 3 league games (Drew 2, lost 1)
Gally played in 2, Pears returned for 1
Still no Dolan, Hedges, JRC came on for 1
Still relying on Walhstedt, Leonard, Moran, Telalovic, Garrett, Markandy

Add to the mix the risible management of the hierarchy, a manager who had been lied to and had clearly felt badly short-changed and you have a recipe for what happened.

The team looked poor yesterday with all injured players returned and a new centre back.

I posted this on Jan 15. After seeing the extra effort on sat. The desire to run, tackle and track back etc, I am absolutely certain the info I received was spot on. JDT may have been a refreshing change on media duties and at times the football was excellent  but the players didn't believe in him or the project. I know he was badly let down but you have be be pragmatic at times. You can only wee with the willy you've got. JDT never understood this or refused to so as not to tarnish his brand.

Sadly, I think you are correct. Such a shame really. But then JDT realised the project he had been sold was a lie, that he was surrounded by shite (I don't mean the players as such) and probably downed tools himself to some extent.

More  'utilitarian' it is then. 🙂

  9. This is just some musings.
I was thinking about rubber dinghy men (actually occasioned by something on 606 phone-in.) Remember those days when we were relegated 98/99? And I got to thinking of the ins and outs, whys and wherefores.

    A thread here from 2020
    https://www.brfcs.com/forums/topic/34492-9899-relegation/

and a good piece on Hodgson here
    https://90sfootballparty.wordpress.com/2016/08/02/home-too-soon-hodgson-at-blackburn/

The latter did make me think about JDT and training methods. Hodgson was a real eye opener for English players and his first season here was electric. But then it all went pear shaped. Gallagher talking about double sessions making them knackered was interesting.

But then, like a multinational, institution, family saga or soap opera, many factors were at play. Difficult personalities, failed signings (Davies/Peacock) in terms of performance, mistakes by the owner (Jack), injuries and so on all leading to catastrophe. And that was even when we had money!

Nice to see Dolan hugging Eustace at the end (along with a few other players). You never know. Perhaps he just wasn't enjoying it under the previous Head Coach.

Let's hope he signs because it feels like he has matured and become a better all-round player in the last season or two.

Who was responsible for that? Certainly not Mowbray.

  11. Player wages -is this accurate? Dolan!

    https://www.capology.com/club/blackburn/salaries/

And on speculation and a kind of follow on, who will be sold in the summer? High wage earners off the books, those who can command a good fee?

Edit There are several online lists -another one -Dolan better off on this one 🙂

Its what other clubs have been doing to us for the past 2 months.

The annoying thing is JDT has shown in the past (first half of last season and notably against Watford at the start of this season) that he is able to be pragmatic.  I just think he was unwilling to do so for the past few months as he was disillusioned with the job

    Yes indeed.

  13. Incidentally, we don't score that 2nd (?) goal without Hedges at the back post for the knock down. For that matter, we wouldn't have crossed the ball early in the first place with no Gallagher either (ie for a lot of games this season.) Would have been recycled in the  er, Barcelona style but you can see logic under JDT without target men to cross to.

I think my posts were more about the glee (understandable I guess) that lumping it might be some kind of panacea  and a deflection from other shenanigans.
