It doesn't stop me forgetting two relegations, a host of con men made extremely rich, loss of thousands of fans, millions of pounds frittered away, lots of redundancies, local business incomes affected and many other things. And to remind you we were a terrifically well run club before they came. We quickly became the opposite. If they had kept a semblance of normality we could have maintained our PL status. And if we had that would have been around £1b into the club.

Stupidity doesn't do it justice so I will focus on that for as long as they are here.

I'm sorry Tony but historically I agree (as you full well know) but as is the here and now, I vehemently disagree.

    I'll leave it there.

The only reason FFP is such a concern is because of Venky’s complete mismanagement of the club for the last 11 years. It’s costing them so much to keep the club afloat because of their own mistakes. People seem all too willing to overlook this in favour of praising them for some reason.

Yes, we need more bums on seats and I’m happy to report that that seems to be the case, but I’ll never blame people for being hesitant to come back to Ewood, if they feel like they’ve had the piss taken out of them. Just as I’ll never blame people for continuing to attend matches, because they love their club more than they hate Venky’s.

I get all of that, but at what point do you draw a line in the sand?

Who would you rather be today, here and now......a Claret with their owners or us with ours?

  3. "A quick look at our opposition tonight shows you don't need £50 million in sales and training grounds being transferred to comply with FFP and still invest."

.....And where do our opposition tonight sit currently in the league table compared with us?

Your mathematics also don't add up....you can't use potential sales in the future as current cash in the bank.

FFP is a fact, rightly or wrongly...it's about time there were more bums on seats at Ewood, rather than just completely berating the owners for "lack of ambition". Like it or not, the fact is that Venkys poured in another just short of £35 million into BRFC last financial year, respectfully give it some thought.

  4. I'm pretty certain that all at Rovers are fully aware that this season presents our best shot at going up. Particularly bearing in mind where we currently sit in the table and being mindful of the financial clout of those that are likely to be relegated from the PL this season.

Despite the rumours to the contrary, I'm also pretty certain that nobody will be going elsewhere this window, unless a ridiculous offer is received that would be silly to refuse.

There'll be some incomings (perhaps short term) but there will always be the thought that we don't want to block the progression of the wealth of talent (particularly in U18s) and some in U23s.

I'm pretty relaxed, as long as we sign some experienced heads (even if short term) to support our young squad and hopefully help us over the line this season.

I can't see that the injury could have been foreseen by Mowbray.  But with the amount of hamstring injuries that we get, the training regime might need looking at.

Markandy has only been with us for 5 minutes Rigger....you can't throw that injury at Rovers' training regime.

I accept though that we have always had an unhealthy level of hamstring and groin issues. which should be looked at in terms of the reason why.

Markandey ruled out for the season needing surgery on a hamstring injury

    Seriously?

Edit: Apologies, I've just read the report.....how unfortunate and sad for both Markanday and us!

Harvey Elliott is with us on Monday night....get him signed up until the end of the season and if we go up, permanently! It'd take the pressure off Buckley, Rothwell and Dack.

  7. I'd like to see Dolan back up top, assuming he's fit.......playing the chasing/harrassing game, high up the pitch, against a big, cumbersome back 4.

Then the 2 banks of 3 at the back and in midfield that have served us so well (assuming they're available) and then perm any others (except Gallagher) for the remaining outfield slots.

We have to take the game to 'Boro IMO.

    And boro and forest..

If We got our act together from the position We're in, we shouldn't worry about anyone (Fulham excepted).

We've 10 days to do something to shore us up (even if it's just to seasons end and see where it takes us).

It's not just about illness and injury but yellow card counts are also mounting (Lenihan and Buckley in particular)....We're short term wafer thin and need some investment NOW!

I remember feeling so short changed that day. The fog was so bad we couldn't see the ball, once it went into the other half....

I was 10 years old, other than an away game at Bolton and being scared to death under the bridges en route to Burnden Park, the fog at Goodison is my earliest recollection of an away day back then.

    Hull City 1 Rovers 2

I think Rovers will be really fired up for tomorrow night and will need little motivation from elsewhere....we'll rip into Hull from the off, on the front foot.

On the ticketing front, Rovers are still expecting 2,500 plus at Hull and if folk didn't already know, we sold out our 1,000 allocation for Luton by mid afternoon yesterday, which was the first day they were on sale.

I would love to see footage of our 8-2 away win at Wham in 63. I know there was some because I remember the goals being shown on BBC news.

What about the 3-1 defeat a couple of days later!😉

2 games in 3 days against the same team, all that travelling, no Christmas Day with the family....... ridiculous was the cry!

These current young pups don't know they're born by comparison.

I'd be going all out for Liam Delap at City on loan. No idea the size of wages or loan fees etc and I know he's been flirting with the first team in cup games etc but that's where I'd be putting a lot of effort. They'd probably want assurances about playtime too, but he'd definitely get more at us than he would for them.

I think that is a damn good shout!

A pretty clear evaluation of Wharton's value to us from Lancs Live:

    Wharton's unbeaten streak

In the 104 league fixtures that Scott Wharton has played in his career (including play-off fixtures), the defender has lost just 22. Note that this includes loan spells at Cambridge United, Bury, Lincoln City and Northampton Town. It's staggering.

Since returning to Rovers following his successful stint with Northampton, the team have not lost any one of the 17 league matches Wharton's participated in. The fixture against Brentford in December 2020 had the potential to tarnish that record as he was stretchered off with an Achilles fracture but even on that occasion, Jacob Davenport's rescue act ensured this phenomenal streak remains intact today.

Besides just his winning mentality, Wharton's presence has fast become an imperative feature in the success of this Rovers side. He brings a balance to the defensive unit and his ability to slide a pass when Rovers are operating in their own third is crucial to alleviating pressure. It doesn't matter whether it's 15-yards through the needle to a forward or a 50-yard switch, Wharton's got the pass in his locker.

Just wait until Scott's younger brother Adam is introduced in to the first team squad.......you'll 'cream your jeans' then!

    Fabulously gifted midfielder!
