  1. I think what people are trying to say is that given the ludicrous wages on offer, surely £30k a week to £50k shouldnt matter. What should matter is the chance to improve as a player, play with better players and possibly win trophies. Obviously Lucas doesn't value that as highly as money, that's his perogative.

True, people are entitled to feel aggreived but players come and go, its the nature of the beast. Even as long as I've been watching since 1984 loads of players have come and gone, some worth mourning the loss of, some not. Lucas is good, but not as good as some who have left and Rovers are still in there punching above their weight and challenging bigger opponents.

  2. It may have just been me-but on Eurosport's coverage they showed the players doing a warm down and it appeared as if Benny was joking to Neil about the incident. It looked as if Benny was cupping his ears-kind of showing Neil this is what you should have done. Did anybody else see that?

Yes I saw that too, he also was roundly congratulated by firstly ALL the coaching staff and secondly by most of the players including Tugay when he left the pitch.

I disagree with the booing and thought his celebration was funny to the extent it was just a silence for those booing on Saturday when he was unfarily targeted amongst a whole team of under-performers.

I don't agree with those who "won't watch another match whilst he plays" and those who criticise him for what he is doing. So it's a football club and it's different to nearly every other industry under the sun, but who wouldn't in their own job under a short term contract see it out before looking for something else or signing again if offered the same or improved terms?

Yes we all hold Rovers very dear and want the best intentions, performances and behaviour from every player, but whilst he is employed by BRFC and picked by Mark Hughes give him the support you give every other player who has played past and present in the blue and white halves.

  3. there were people fighting in the BBE after the game on Saturday over why MGP was given the MOTM award. Ended with 7 police surrounding one guy and a lad (who had been foul mouthed and annoying as hell all the way through) being led away by his mates with his nose pouring with blood and ever so slightly bent! Must admit it was slightly amusing to those stood watching  not that I'm condoning it mind. Shows how petty arguments can get out of hand in an environment such as the match.

  4. Well if you are judging them on their organisation of the Blue Bar passes. It took them until 3-4 weeks ago to finally send out the Terms and Conditions for actually having one. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen people barracking the door staff on match days trying to get in.

Although I must say since the T&C arrived at least everyone knows where they stand.

  5. You can't seriously be complaining about the allocation process? Rovers have been more than fair and posted the priorities about 3 weeks ago with the application form. It was clear from the off that previous euro travellers had priority over all, season ticket holders next and then non-season ticket holders.

No there weren't 2500 that went to Krakow and Salzburg there was 800 or so, but there are also 12000 season ticket holders a good chunk of whom will have put applications in 3 weeks ago!

Tickets are on open sale now, so it's up to you but don't start wingeing about it being unfair. Rovers have done this by the book exactly how people wanted it doing after recent fiascos.

  6. I'am sorry but if Mr Beckham is going to join the EPL the following clubs, I humbly suggest, would rate more highly than Rovers on his wish list.

1)Chelsea - need a right winger, another trophy player for Roman.

2)Bolton - third in the premiership, the dream of champions league, close to Manchester.

3)Portsmouth - fourth in the league , Redknap, new rich backers, close to London.

4)Aston Villa – ONeil, new rich backers.

5)Spurs - London based, my favorite if Lennon goes to Chelsea.

6)Newcastle – Have a habit of throwing money at problems, fan base , Owen.

Personally I hope I am wrong and Mr Hughes pulls of the signing of the decade. :)

1 - No chance, don't need a right midfielded don't play with one. Don't think Mourinho would like anyone with a bigger profile than him.

2 - Can't afford to pay Kevin Davies an improved salary never mind Beckham

    3 - It's Portsmouth!

    4 - Possibly

5 - Lennon won't go to Chelsea, Spurs will fight tooth and nail to keep him

6 - No professional in their right mind would go anywhere near Newcastle at the current moment.

  7. They also got rid of Rino Gattuso becasue he was deemed no good. Then they couldn't function without Bazza Ferguson the free kick taking average player. Very strange indeed.

I thought Gattuso was only at Rangers to toughen up and get some football as a youngster. He went back to Italy pretty sharpish and was in the AC Milan and Italian national sides not long afterwards.

  8. Just as an aside, Tugay also stormed ahead in Rovers' "longest time to walk off when subbed" competition, easily beating McCarthy's valient effort in Salzburg.

I have to say it's getting more entertaining watching Tugay come up with ways to waste time every game. About a minute before he was going to be subbed he's edging, no marching, towards the Riverside to try to get as far away from the dugouts as he can. Brilliant! And how he loves the adulation, the guy's a true entertainer and will be sorely missed when he departs.

  9. A couple of friends of mine went to watch a Durham cricket match shortly after he missed the penalty in the playoffs that kept Sunderland down. Gray was there pie eyed causing allsorts of problems. Allegedly. Could that miss still haunt him?

Haunt? Do you not think people have missed more important penalties, shots, chances and not seen their careers deteriorate since?

Did you see his the other day on roverstv, he looks attrocious? I've seen people look better after a weekend long bender!

He's finished in the top flight anyway, but definitely at Rovers. Same with Todd, if Hughes wasnt going to play them Wednesday then he isnt going to play them again.
