  1. tugay was simply immense. zurab needs pinning down to a contract now and lucas neill needs his contract extending he has been outstanding this season.

thought reid was good, doing the savage "headless chicken" role and giving it to tugay to spray the passes around. its about time soccer am got a whole showboating section dedicated to toogs he was absolutely head and shoulders above any other player today. danny murphy for england? a 35 year old over the hill ex international made him look extremely ordinary!!!!

  2. OK performance, the game spoilt by the over excited ref who blew up for pretty much anything. Neill was outstanding and seemed reluctant to pass the ball to Emerton in advanced positions preferring to dance his own path through the Fulham defence on a couple of occasions. Despite the slagging he has received from many I thought Emerton's overall play was OK but admit his crossing and SOMETIMES his passing was abysmal.

Kuqi worked his ass off today and deserves a mention for the thankless task of playing alone up front with support being limited from Reid and Savage. Delighted Nelsen was back in defence, really what was needed looked assured and commanding when needed (better captain that Toddy I'm afraid).

Both goals were superb definitely goal of the month contenders! Poor crowd but Fulham brought a measly 300 which didn't help. Still holiday season and a poor first performance against West Ham, so should be better for Spuds (hopefully).

  3. Am I missing something Key?  Why on earth would people buy season tickets at all when they can get a good seat for a quid?  "Hmm lets see luv its June with the hols and sales coming up............... should I spend 400 quid now on a season ticket or sit in the Darwen End all season for £38?"

Well I'm sure there's a way of ensuring that people don't exploit the system obviously. Or am I asking too much of the customer database in our beloved ticket office?? There are plenty of teams/schools/kids clubs within a 10/15 mile radius of Ewood so that a number can be invited on the numerous occasions when the Darwen End is empty.

  4. A guy on Century's Legends programme last night said that Wigan had run something last season with all the local junior football teams invited for free and from one team had acquired about 4 or 5 season ticket holders (plus at least one parent to take them).

The philosophy works, rather the Darwen End was full of people paying £1-2 with the possiblity of even 10% taking up season tickets in the future than empty every game.

  5. Im not having a go either USA, but those who saw him on Saturday may dispute what you say. Fair enough he was ruled offside, but Matt didnt know that, neither did he stop to think, when he collected the ball and went round the Espanyol keeper, and as we all know the keeper had to revert to hacking Jansen down.

Have to agree with Alan on this one, he was going past Kameni like he wasn't even there until he reverted to a tackle that could have re-arranged his leg!! It was kind of reminiscent of the Jansen of old. Shame he didnt have longer to prove it some more!

  6. I can't say I ever had a problem with Souness at Rovers until his and his coaching teams lack of tactical and coaching skills seemed so obviously lacking, emphasized by the lack of direction the team seemed to have in 2003/2004 season and at the start of last season.

In the beginning at Rovers he had money to go out and buy well known players for decent money and pay them good wages. When the money started to dry up he had little option but to scout more thoroughly and coach the players he had brought in. He just couldnt do that, and now the same seems to be happening at Newcastle. He has brought in good players in Faye, Emre, Parker & Boumsong along with others like Babayaro and Moore on high wages and high fees but he hasnt a clue how to coach them into a good unit. How much has he spent since January....£20m+???

Look at the change in Rovers squad last year with very little in the way of additions and see the change in the 7 months after Hughes took charge. Very little else but training, fitness and tactical planning!

Not that I'd be bothered if Newcatle suffered as I can't stand the club, never have liked them. Was it Keegan who claimed they were everyone's second favourite team? b*llocks!

  7. The Darwen End ticket office will be open tomorrow evening for tickets for the Darwen End and the Jack Walker End, so if you want to avoid the inevitable queues at the Blackburn End ticket office, use t'other one!

Alternatively, book via the internet now and collect your tickets on the day!

The Testimonial isn't listed as a match you can purchase tickets for!!!!!

  8. I see where you're coming from philip but if the fairweather fans around this area aren't going to watch Rovers, I can't see them suddenly deciding to watch Preston simply because they are in the Premiership.

Granted Rovers marketing hasn't been too spectacular (ever) to draw in the extra 'drifiting' fans but I can't see Preston doing anything out of the ordinary to entice them to Deepdale.

  9. Viera £35m - who the hell is going to pay that??? Real who are in debt? Man Utd? I don't think so!!!!

Reyes £24m - I think Real Madrid will pay little more than £10m seeing as Arsenal have only paid £12m so far for him

Cole £20m - Chelsea might stretch to that in today's deflated market

    Clichy £10m - hasn't played 20 Premiership games not a chance £10m

Toure £14m - not in a million years, would anyone pay that?

V Persie £15m - someone who was valued at £2.5m 8 months ago!!!

    Flamini £10m - are you having a laugh he's only a kid

Senderos £13m - had what 10 first team games???

Fabregas £12-18m - I think £3-4m at the moment he's not completed a full season yet

Have you watched the value of players plummet in the last few years????

  10. Onepost:  for the Celtic game I queued bau could not get a ticket even though I had been to Sofia.  I dropped Bob Coar a firm but non threatening note and it did the trick.

My brother got a phone call from the ticket office regarding that. After a load of complaints I presume, he (and I believe a few other people) was offered a ticket for Celtic due to having travelled to Sofia. Also received a written apology from Tom Finn (Club Sec) along with the ticket. Still had to pay for the ticket mind!!! biggrin.gif

  11. I rang at 9.00 on the dot... took about 10 minutes to go down and I got my tickets by 9.10.

I've done the maths and this story adds up.

Thanks Sam but don't start bragging about your maths ability. You have the advantage over the rest of us with all those extra fingers and toes.

I realised as soon as I had put that, didn't think someone like Sam with the IQ of a cardboard box would be the first to pick up on it though!!!
