1. This I really don't understand. If you don't look for trouble you won't get it in Rotterdam. Why bother to go to Amsterdam? Rotterdam is the second city of the country and has everything (and more) you guys will find in Amsterdam. Check it out yourself:

    http://www.vvv.rotterdam.nl/uk/

The ground of Basel got closed for 5 games in the Swiss League because their fans misbehaved but do you really think Swiss police recommended the Feyenoord fans to stay in Bern or Zurich? It's completely nonsense.

My thinking precisely. It's only the same as going to any away game in any UK city if you look for trouble you'll find it. How many people have been to St Andrews, The Den, Turf Moor? Hrdly the most serene of locations or of welcoming locals but you'd still go wouldn't you?

We're booked into Amsterdam on Wedneday and a hotel in Rotterdam for after the game.

  2. "Simon Williams (surely no relation to Chairman Williams?) Head of Sales and Marketing at Rovers"

Surely not the one and same idiot who took over the distribution of the blues bar half time passes, which weren't sent out on time and had to be collected from the bar, which went up £10 from last season and dont even allow members priority to get in before the game!!!

  3. A point away to Liverpool. Got to be pleased with that. Good to see McCarthy scoring, makes us appreciate how astutely Hughes has replaced Bellamy.

exactly replacing bellamy, dickov and kuqi with mccarthy, nonda, roberts and jeffers and coming away with a profit is looking like excellent dealing at the moment.

to re-iterate savage was extremly lucky not to get sent off.

bert was at fault for the goal but otherwise defended very well in the second half when he had to. thought lucas had a great game today, tackling, getting forward, nearly scored.

£479 for 1 NIGHT.. They must be having a laugh. Or they really dont want fans on their Executive option.

That's no executive option, that's the only option. The coach option is awful, it's similar to the Lyon trip a few years ago except we stayed over in Lyon the night before that game, which helped but the travelling was terrible.

The cheapest I can find to do it is fly Manchester to Munich on Thursday AM, train to Salzburg stay over night thursday after the match in Munich or Salzburg. Fly back from Munich to Manchester Friday morning. Cost on lastminute.com and expedia was about £180-£200 return on the flights, £60 for a good 4* hotel and £40-£50 for return train tickets. But then you have food, beer and match tickets on top. Still cheaper than Rovers though.

  5. Excellent workout and result that has cheered everyone up after some rather iffy pre season games.

McCarthy and Roberts look very promising.....BRING ON THE NEW SEASON!! :rover:

Definitely agree with that Roberts held the ball up well as the central striker and McCarthy played off him very intelligently with some superb control and touches. Thought Gally played some nice passes when he came on and Reid looked good in right mid and right back positions.

Looks like Lucas is definitely going to start at centre back if he is still here next week with Todd or A N Other alongside. Maybe Nelsen is a goner?

  6. So in theory England only get 3 UEFA cup places originally 1 league, 1 FA Cup & 1 Carling Cup? I thought it was more than that, but just looking at UEFA's qualification list, England do get 3 places, 2 of which are specified for the league but the Carling Cup winners are given one of these.

  7. The corner that lead to their goal came from an offside pass!

I thought that as well. The ref was so concerned with booking Dickov's needless foul that he missed his linesman standing there flag raised for offside for a ages, but then ignored him and gave a corner!!!

  8. Reid was asked if Hughes offered him a new contract now would he accept it? Reid's reply was that he was happy with the way he is playing, settled in his house and owed the fans for the injuries/form for his first 18 months at the club and would be happy to sign an extension to his contract.

  9. its time to get rid of Emerton he has had lots of chances to prove his talent but has let us down badly. He has know heart, he will never go in for a 50 50 and goes missing in games.

Bring back stuart ripley i say

    384606

so going in for a 50/50 makes you a certain choice for the first XI then? hell bring back nicky marker and andy morrison. both completely talentless individuals who kicked the crap out of people, but at least they went into 50/50's eh?

  10. personally 3 for both home & away for me. that gold away kit is intruiging and might look miles better in real life than in the simulated colours on screen, but then again the arse had a gold kit a few years ago and it looked awful.

what annoys me is actually having to pay (granted its only the best part of 35p) to have my voice heard by rovers is ridiculous. why not just have a poll on the official website like on here? each regsitered user gets one vote it's easy enough to do isnt it?

  11. Proud of the lads, but for some reason it didn't seem like we threw everything at United in the last 10mins? Having said that, we played some cracking footie at times and never resulted to long ball tactics(Bolton style) although maybe we should have.

Anyone else feel we needed to be more Bully Boy like, at time tonight?

Anyway, i felt Nelsen,Zurab, Tugay(despite his mistake) and Bentley stood out for me today.

If only we had Dickov at least, we may have created a few more chances.

Oh well, we have to go win the FA Cup now! Although im not sure im too interested in Saturdays game at the moment.

    378146

disagree about bentley, he only came alive in the second half. shame about them having the extra man in poll though, knew we were in for trouble when i saw him lead the teams out for the game!!
