1. I thought the yellow strip was awful. Sorry! We were always gargabe when we played in it too. I now have a superstition that crap away kits get you relegated...or was that the crap orange one. Crap nonetheless.

I remember when the asics contract ran out. They paraded the new uhlsport kit round the pitch at half time when we beat the barcodes to get into Europe with a late Chris Sutton strike and I said to my mate that that kit 'had first division written all over it'. Twelve months later.......

  2. Although I wouldn't take quite the pessamistic view that Jim usually does, I'd certainly agree with him that the tournament was too long. Ever since the competition was expanded to 24 teams there have been too many meaningless games.

I think I'm right too that some of the best games were played whilst I was at work so, for me, I can't really remember the pulse racing too much (with the notable exception of watching the last 20 minutes of the Australia v Croatia game).

Though, if I'm honest, if the team you love has such a bad tournament as England had, all the games could have been thrillers but it wouldn't have stopped my feeling of been underwhelmed.

  3. They are out of control. Something needs to be done about it. Any ideas anyone, I myself hate the tabloids and never buy them but unfortunatly they will always sell and will always keep printing this crap. Is there anything we can do?

One thing you can do is stop reading them. Simple.

  4. Please tell me what crap Hansen and Shearer talk at half-time ( I don't have access to a tv at the mo). Yesterday they were dismissing the threat of Germany as nothing to worry about in the least for the mighty England.

The game's on ITV1. That's also why we're losing.

  5. Good post Philly. I'd say more or less the same thing, and for those having a go at him in comparison to Cole, well these are the stats.

    (03/04) Andy Cole - 11 goals in 34 games (0.32 gpg)

    (04/05) Paul Dickov - 9 goals in 27 games (0.33 gpg)

And Cole was playing in a team with the likes of Duff and Dunn who created bag loads of chances and finished in the top 6 that season, Dickov was playing in a team with the lowest scoring record in the clubs history who created about 1 chance every other game.

    Cheers Paul, top man.

Err.... in 03/04 we finished in the top 6 of what exactly? I certainly wasn't the league.

  6. I was furious when they didn't mention what a good season we had had. Did they say anything after the last set of highlights? If not, then that's an absolute disgrace. They big up Newcastle for getting into the Intertoto Cup ffs.

Gary Lineker mentioned that we had an excellent season before the highlights came on.

  7. I hope the BET24 logo is printed into the Material not stuck on !!

I agree about the Cardboard HSA logo being shabby but this years Plastic LONSDALE logo came off in one complete piece after washing !!

I've never had a shirt sponsor remotely look as though it would peel off any of the shirts I've bought. Other people were complaining a few seasons ago about the CIS / HSA logos falling off but I've never had any luck.

  8. i would welcome him back and i dont think his wages will be a problem were only going to get dunn if brmingham go down so his wages wont be a problem becuase if he stays at birmingham his wags will get dropped so its brum in the championship or rovers

    386867

ohmy.gif Come again? If he stays at Brum his wages will get dropped so he should come to Rovers where he will be able to continue to draw that same wages, most probably from the treatment table?

In what way is that 'not a problem'?

  9. Ive seen the rumour about Dunny returning to Ewood in the summer.  I think this would be great for both club and player, esp if we make europe!  With Tugay getting on in the midfield we need a central player to create, Dunny could be that man.

The only worry I have is his fittness problems.

    386783

Err........."fitness problems" do not equal "great for club". Let's just leave it at that.

  10. After years of me banging on about this (no pun intended) and my requests for polls on this website to be turned down on the basis that the drummers aren't going anywhere so why have a poll (!!??), there is now a clear message that the drummers are not wanted.

For those posters who think the drummers need lessons in timing, may I suggest that you take lessons in accoustics (and specifically the speed of sound)?

Chants that start at the back corners of the BBE are killed off because of the the time they take to travel to the ears of the drummer. By the time his moronic bangings to make their way back to people who actually have something positive to contribute to the atmosphere everything is out of time. You could have Larry Mullen Jr or Charlie Watts keeping timing; it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference.

  11. I went in the SWI/Rovers Store this lunchtime, and there was row after row of Rovers kits and clothing. And most of it was vastly marked down, EG The current Lonsdale-Lonsdale Home shirts are Half Price, in all sizes. Plus BRFC branded leisure wear, and gifts and novelty items too. Even the HSA long sleeve Yellow away kit was there at £13.49!!!

The shirts have been half-price for ages. I bought mine back in October.

  12. I went in for a mini kit, working in burnley it’s a necessity you understand  biggrin.gif

"We don't sell mini kits as we're sport world not a Blackburn Rovers club shop"

Bring back the old club shop I say.

    382642

The line is very blurred here. I bought some Rovers swimming armbands for my kids a few months ago, that I haven't seen stocked anywhere else. How come they had those in stock, along with flags and (occasionally) scalves, when they're not a Rovers club shop?

I agree Gav, bring back the club shop or at least the club should enforce that they sell more Rovers stuff.
