According to the BBC stats we've only had one shot on goal since half time and WBA have had three - appreciate I'm not watching the match but have we really been that effective in the second half?

We have been much the better side second half, travis best player on pitch dictating play everything going through him. Plenty of good passing and possession but missing that focal point in attack, as dack ineffective upfront. They have countered a few times, but we have packed the midfield and been better than 1st half.

Does that make us the better team, though, or them? Sounds like we were set up completely ineffectively and weren't able to create anything useful, whilst they had a counter-attacking system which targeted our poor defence and worked. We had more possession for sure, but it doesn't sound like we did much with it, whereas Charlton made the most of what they had.

They did make the most of what they had. Its not easy to break down a team with 10 men behind the ball.

However that begs the question how did they score 2 goals?

Our defence is piss poor, apart from Lenihan the other 3 would not get in any of then top 10 teams.

    TM MUST address this!

Rubbish the save he pulled off at the end was evidence enough he will do well with us. He is not to blame for the goals we conceded Bennett and rothwell are

Wigan fan I know rates Walton very highly, to the extent he thinks he may play for England one day.

Brighton rate him highly as he was not for sale only available on loan!

Funny how those who haven't even seen him play are making judgements.

I haven't seen the game so I obviously take note of those that went, but I struggle to see how we looked like we were going to win the game when we only had two efforts on target. Charlton had five.

They sat back very deep, we didn't shoot from edge of the area when we had possession there.

They were compact in the middle and forced us wide, downing put good balls in, we really should have switched to 2 centre forwards!

They countered a few times and that when they had all their shots

They didn't have Mulgrew, Bennett and Bell in defence. It's not the result in isolation, it's a build up of issues that has been going on since last season.

Had a quick look on a Charlton forum, they genuinely can't believe they won. Treating it like they've just beaten Man City. That's how low their expectations were.

It's not their expectations were low , contrary to a lot of the negativity on here we did have A LOT of possession in the final third and after our equaliser there only looked like 1 winner us. we had a period of immense pressure for about 15 mins but could not carve out any clear chances. 1st goal Bennett passed straight to them and they countered, 2nd goal their number 9 beat Lenihan in air to head home. Hence why tosin at 6ft 5 must start next game!

P.S Bradley Johnson - cant remember the last time I saw such an accomplished all round performance from a CM

  6. Watch skysports highlights, on 27 seconds, under no pressure mulgrew cant head a simple ball, their striker is straight on goal 1 on 1. This is identical to the mistakes he made in game cant remember near end of last season.

    Please watch it...

  7. I think Gallagher would be a great signing for us. For whatever reason it didn't work out for him at Birmingham.

What if dack gets sold come deadline day and Graham gets an injury? Entirely possible then who would lead the line? Not Armstrong as he is more effective out wide and we dont have any wide players with pace bar Chapman.

If dack does end up moving on Graham and Gallagher would be an ideal partnership.

I agree with most of your post but I would like to know , what happened in January ???

Only Chapman signed and not kicked a ball yet , Downing leaving ( not a brill player ) but an option ...

Whose idea was it to sign nobody ?? Mowbray or someone higher up the chain ..

I am beginning to think if Chapman plays before next season , he will cost us a fee  , if not he is on a free !!

Mowbray messed up in January! Gambled on the fact that rodwell will come good as CB, but even worse was to let go of downing. Don't know why we didn't go in for Patrick Bauer.

The only good thing about this abysmal run and number of goals conceded is that he will hopefully bring in a couple of defenders!

We cannot start next season with Williams, bell and Mulgrew!

Bowyer was far better than Mowbray. He kept us up for a start and had two top 10 finishes. He never had £7m to spend on a reserve either . If they can sack Bowyer they can sack the deluded idiot who is in charge now.

Absolute rubbish! Sorry, bowyer had Rhodes, gestede, king, Cairney, dann, Hanley + more.

We can't compete with Boro/stoke/forest/ their wage budgets will be MORE than DOUBLE ours! It is so hard to bring in any talented established players because they will already be on more than 20k a week!! This is key when it comes to recruitment.

Villa lost 1 million pound a week last season, look it up, as did wolves last year!!

Our goal for this season is to stay up. Looks like we will do that. If TM doesn't bring in any defenders in summer then call for his head!

What wigan and Rotherham would give to be in our position! We have to be content with mid table, and build SLOWLY over the next 3 years, yes 2-3 years at least.

Extraordinary comments from Mowbray. He's hung Raya out to dry.

To be fair he has protected raya many times, at least 3 times if not more for calamitous errors which cost us points! Lack of goalkeeping competition also an issue

The turning point was taking Armstrong off in my view.. he was our most potent threat and they were terrified of him..

Personally think terrible decision by Tony..

On the whole I was pleased with out performance

So apart from Armstrong do we have ANYBODY At all in the squad, with electric pace who can play wide either flank and run at defenders? ANYBODY? I think it's disgusting Mowbray hasn't addressed this! Any fullback in the vanarama league would feel comfortable defending against  brereton/bennett/conway/reed! Regarding Reed he is absolutely fantastic but not a wide player, use him in an emergency out wide but not on a regular basis to accommodate players like Evans and Smallwood!

Travis is a machine!! Why the lad hasn't had more game time is beyond me. The duo of Evans & Smallwood does not work!! Would like to see a Reed & Travis partnership in the middle, both a step up from the other two.

One thing that got me was that, if Dack didn't start, why not stick Rothwell in the number 10 role? See what he can do in his natural position? We all know the lads got talent! The more Mowbray leave him out the less interested he will be. Hope we don't loose him!

How good is Lewis Travis! Definitely first choice CM for the time being anyway....
