  1. Well I'm now in season 3 of my latest game, season 1 started well with Leicester finishing 7th - just missing out on playoffs - and clearing out quite a few overpaid players. Second season I tried to change the team too much and only won once in the 1st 11 games and got sacked. So took over Barnsley (who were in League Two) and guided them from 22nd to 2nd and back to League One. Now in third season and looking good for a playoff spot with only minimal changes to the squad. Think that's the key really, only change a few players at a time.

  2. Not an important point, but I can't understand why a cheer went up for Emerton being subbed - I know he frustrates fans a lot but he had a decent game and came closer than anyone else to scoring. It was a very good header, completely unsaveable, just a few inches too high.

I thought Emerton was absolutely shocking, personally. He didn't beat his man once as far as I could tell, gave up on numerous reachable balls and his crosses seemed to be aimed at anyone not in a Rovers shirt, well unless you count the fans that is. Mind you I don't think any of midfielders had a good game apart from Savage.

  3. As much as I hate to say it, a club with the stature of Newcastle shouldn't be in that position. Something needs doing to rectify the situation at Newcastle, and personally I don't see see the buck stopping with Souness, who to me was a decent manager in his time at Rovers, but the board of directors at Newcastle. Let's just be thankful for the directors we have eh Vinjay? wink.gif

  4. What a fantastic result! Grinning from ear to ear!

Had fallen asleep listening to the West Ham v Arsenal game and must be conditioned to listen out for Rovers, 'cos I woke up a fraction of a second before 5 live went across to Old Trafford.

Had a few celebratory drinks to honour this one - superb! biggrin.giftinykit.gif

  5. Yes but facism is almost always (but not necessarily so) connected with extreme right wing politics, yet the most obvious case of any country enforcing a government controlled birth rate is the communist / Maoist Peoples Republic of China.

Indeed, the Nazis actively encouraged women having lots of children and offered cash incentives and awards such as the Mother's Cross.

*Not wishing to get involved in the debate, just trying to prove to myself that I do remember some of the history I've been taught wink.gif

  6. We dominated the game but didn't score when we had the chances, Newcastle did. Simple as that really.

There were positives: Rovers kept the ball well at times, carved out some good chances, Bellamy and Reid were lively, only 1 player was booked and Jansen showed some decent touches when he came on.

On the downside, Riley was terrible for both sides, but that free-kick that Shearer scored never was. Defence went to sleep for the other 2 goals. Kuqi was god-awful, the midfield was quiet second half and we didn't take any of the chances we made.

All-in-all a rubbish result, not a bad performance - the goals aside - and we've really gotta bounce back in the next game. Oh, and 4-4-2 with Jansen and Bellamy up front would be nice.
