  1. I've been listening to Feeder's new album and, although it's very different to their previous stuff, I'm really impressed. A good, easy-to-listen-to album that's worth a tenner of anybody's money.

  2. It's worth considering just how much our team from last night cost in comparison with Chelsea's.

    Freidel - Free

    Neill - £2mil.

    Todd - £650,000

    Nelson - Free

    Matteo - Free

    Emerton - £2.25mil.

    Mokoena - £300,000

    Savage - £3.1mil.

    Thompson - £2.5mil.

    Morten Gamst Pedersen - £1.5mil.

    Dickov - £150,000

That's a grand total of £12.45mil. equivalent to about 1 Arjen Robben.

  3. That was the most disgraceful piece of sportsmanship since Maradona handled the ball into England's net.

He should never play football again. End of.

Never been so angry about a refereeing decision before, even the Beattie and Saha incidents were forgiveable, this wasn't. Would like to take my vengeance further but don't think it'd do anyone any good.

  4. Blackburn have had their fair share of Scottish legends: Colin Hendry, Kenny Dalglish... even Graeme Souness!

Then there was Kevin Gallacher. A neat and tidy, nippy winger-come-striker, Gallacher was a truely enjoyable player to watch; gave defences the run around on many occasion that I watched him. A hat-trick back in the 96/97 season against Wimbledon was a highlight, particularly when he nicked the ball away from Neil Sullivan, who'd spilled his shot, and poked it into the net.

His partnership with Sutton was perhaps not the most prolific, but at least when the two of them were up front you knew there'd be chances and some level of excitement. In fact Gallacher's talent was perhaps more in laying on chances for others than it was taking them. He remains affectionately remembered wherever he played in football, from Dundee to Coventry, Blackburn to Newcastle. Gallacher was a great little player and, for me, rated above Sutton (although I may well be alone in that!)

Gallacher was also a very mild-mannered man, from what I remember of his time at Rovers, never got involved in the sort of dodgy escapades that now litter the world of football and are smeared across tabloid front-pages nationwide.

I've given my first vote to Shearer, but Gallacher is definitely worthy of the second striker's berth. Then we'd be cooking with GAS. tinykit.gif

  5. Ferguson, in today's market, is worth a maximum of £5mil. considering the transfers of Beattie and Morientes for around £6mil. each.

Personally I'd take that and see about converting Reid or Thompson to a central midfielder to partner Savage. Failing that Tugay or Flitcroft could probably fill in to the end of the season when a proper replacement can be found.

  6. Exactly what I was saying in the chat room after the game, I can only reiterate the point that den and I have made that we need a centre forward who will score goals. Dickov's a great little player, but we need a goalscorer alongside him to feed off his workrate and movement. Nathan Ellington anyone?

  7. Strikers who can score 10-15 goals are what keep teams up, generally speaking. Crystal Palace would have 6 points less and only scored 8 goals if it wasn't for Andy Johnson. A striker should therefore be our priority in the transfer window, in my opinion.

Following that, a commanding centre-half wouldn't go amiss.

  8. For me, though, the most under-rated and best of them all is Jason Wilcox for his outstanding service to the club from 1989-99 and vital contributions to the promotion- winning team of 1991-92 and the championship team of 1994-95. Ask Shearer who he'd like on the wing serving the ball up on a plate.

    Wilcox gets my vote.

Wilcox has been one of my favourite players in my time watching Rovers and what really annoys me - and epitomises the England selection process - is how he received so few England caps (if any?) while playing for Rovers, then got transferred from our reserve team to Leeds United and instantly got a call up. mad.gif

I think I'll vote for him too, even though Duff was a fabulous player.

  9. Todd looked absolutely fantastic, Neil superb, Ferguson pleanty of ball - ran midfield, Gallagher - everywhere and defended from the front made the difference to how we had been playing.

I think there's a desparation to idolise Todd in fear that Amoruso or Matteo may make it back into the team. I agree he made one or two excellent challenges but was poor in the air and played some really dodgy clearances straight up in the air. Maybe I was harsh to give him a 6, but he certainly wasn't superb.

Neill I've already indicated had an good game, Ferguson disappeared for long periods and Gallagher was excellent for most of the game but faded.
