  1. Good riddance to the Scottish git. What a wimp. I could get silly again and say that I hope both his kneecaps go next time but sod it.

Actually I think that next season he will end up at Newcastle under Souness after GS pays Rangers £8 million. GS becomes Rangers biggest benefactor and secret shareholder and makes a few bob on the side. Fat Fred spots he's been had - sacks GS who makes a few quid more. And so the long running Soap Opera called the EPL goes on..................I am sick of WKRS

  2. Get rid quick of this disruptive ponce! He must not wear the Rovers shirt again. Good riddance. He will end up back with Souness - only a matter of time. The homesick card currently being played is bullshit.

PS - after he's gone who will be left to mess up all Rovers direct freekicks?

  3. Collectively this is the most inept squad/team I can remember in the 40 odd years of following Rovers. Not a creative idea between them. If we stay up it will only be because the likes of WBA are even worse. While I am at it NJ is the worst professional footballer I have ever had the displeasure of watching - crap he wouldn't get in my Sunday League Pub team. I have nothing positive to say but I feel sorry for Huges and the pile of dog poo that he has inherited. But thanks for the Early Xmas pantomime leading up to the Spurs goal. A girls team could have done better.

  4. The reality is that we have - thanks to Souness (and yes I was in his corner) - a poor squad. Ferguson is a notable exception - I will be sorry to see him go - which he will. It is also sad to see Friedl now past his sell by date. As there are 'bad language' controls on this site I cannot comment on Flitcroft, Matteo, Reid or Emerton.

  5. Interesting how the Souness apologists - of which there were many at the start of the season - have run for cover in the past ten days.

But then it is impossible to defend the indefensible. For me, the sight of him at the match on Saturday - which he should not have attended if he had had any conscience - with his son wearing Newcastle shirt was absolutely sickening.

Souness should have been sacked a year ago. His negligence and failure to do his overpaid job properly is the reason we are in this mess. His legacy to the club is an ageing and average squad that will struggle to escape relegation.

This is my last word on Souness - I'm just glad he's finally gone - but the weak Rovers board have alot to answer for. They must be grateful that Newcastle have made a difficult decision for them.

I do not feel an ''apologist' for being a Souness supporter whilst he was the manager of Rovers. The fact of life is that all managers move on or are pushed sooner or later. Whomever is in the hotseat at Ewood at any particular time will always have my full support as long as they are trying their best. In his time with us I believe Souness was.

The shame of it I believe is Rovers fans who are always bitching - I see a real Rovers person in the shape of Parkes is now getting stick from some. Madness.

We are only four games into the season - a new manager will arrive soon and we should all get behind whomever it is. This is going to be a difficult season and we all know it.

As far as Souness is now concerned I do not give a toss - I am more interested in what the pretty new bargirl was trying to say to me in Nana Plaza last night than listening to the drivel coming out of St James's Park about how Souness is going to do great things with those North East losers.

He is not Rovers manager so I don't care.

Actually I think one of the problems we have is the young and inexperienced strike force!

  6. Take Newcastle to the next level - get a grip. NU are historical losers and whilst I had a good opiion of GS (before he became just another football mercenary) I believe that the resurrection of NUFC is beyond even him.

GS will become a victim of Fat Freddys ego and the young 'thugs' who inhabit the NUFC dressing room.

The best thing would be to let GS clean up the trash you bought under previous management - he will try that anyway.

Good luck it will be an interesting time in the North East.

PS - Shearer will never get another penalty when GS is in charge hahahahahaha

  7. 31st August 2004 - A truly great day in the history of Rovers.

Yorke signs for Brum - official Brum site!

    RIP - gone and forgotten.

OK he will probably score when we play Brum but that's the price you pay to get shut of him!

Their site says ''for a substantial but undisclosed fee'' - if we got money for him even better!

  8. I bought some Trevor Hockey style footy shorts.......retro but trendy at the time. I was the first in the school to do so. biggrin.gif I must have looked like Jimmy Clitheroe going to a fancy dress party as Alex James! laugh.gif

I seem to think that Hockey died young. Am I right?

I had a check around and Trevor Hockey died age 43 in 1987 apparently when playing football!

  9. [

BTW AllRoverAsia do you rem the blatant but not-given penalty decision against Coventry? It was that one incident that totally soured my hithertoo innocent childhood notion that this life is ever fair. In fact I've been a suspicious mistrusting burger ever since! dry.gif

........and in 90% of cases since I've been right to be. rover.gif

Yes I do remember it and it was a penalty. I was a kid at the time and like you I've thought about it over the years - it was a couple of years after that game that I realised that the old guy who had been sitting by me hadn't been calling the Ref a Twit!. As jim mk2 says it was in hindsight a watershed game for Rovers.

  10. Mike Ferguson

Wha Hey at last me'n Jim agree on something!

Fergy.........what a guy! All the requirements for real 'cult hero' status. He could easily beat most opponents with basic skill but when they came out to simply kick him off his game he did something which so few skilfull players seem to be able to do........he tw*tted em big time! laugh.gif

I've already put my 3 on but Ferguson was special. A great footballer plus..... I remember watching him when he was sent off v Coventry - he didn't go quietly....
