  2. Having secured their status as a Premier League club in dramatic fashion at Wolves on Sunday, Rovers have been quick to announce the season ticket prices for the coming 2011–12 season. Fans will welcome the continuation of a policy that sees the club yet again leading the way in offering fans an affordable matchday experience. Fears that the club would hike the prices of season tickets under new owners Venky's have proven to be unfounded, and the Rovers will once again be one of the cheapest places to watch football anywhere in the country. Adult season tickets for the Blackburn End and the Riverside, for example, are just £225, which represents tremendous value at the equivalent of less than £12 per game over the course of the season. And fans can still take advantage of direct debit instalment plans to spread the cost. Juniors under 16 will be able to get their season tickets for as little as £85, which works out at under £4.50 a game, while family groups can qualify for a 10% discount with the introduction of a Family Season Ticket, valid in the Blackburn End Family Stand only. Fans who took advantage of the chance to go in the Darwen End this last season and claim seats on the day will be happy that the unreserved seating section will be kept for the new season. The 19-game season ticket for the Darwen End is also priced at £225 while a new 16-game ticket is being introduced for £165. Commenting on the new season ticket prices, managing director Tom Finn said: "Our strategy of offering the most affordable football in the Premier League has proved particularly successful in recent seasons, both in terms of atmosphere/attendances and our impressive record here at Ewood Park. "Our owners, who have exciting plans for the future of the club, are keen to continue the pricing policy which has been so welcomed by fans. "Our season ticket prices represent incredible value in comparison not only to our top-flight rivals, but within football as a whole. "In trying times financially for fans, we felt that it was hugely important to show continuity in our pricing structure, as well as to reward the supporters for their superb backing again this season." Season tickets are on sale from 9am tomorrow — Thursday, 26 May. Renewal packs for current season ticket holders are due to arrive in the post from the middle of next week, but tickets can be renewed from tomorrow at the Roverstore at Ewood or online via www.onerovers.co.uk. The new Family Season Ticket, meanwhile, can only be purchased via the Roverstore because of the terms and conditions involved and also note that all season ticket holders should retain their season ticket card for use next season. The deadline for existing season ticket holders to claim their seat and the deadline for direct debit applications is Thursday, 30 June. * Thanks to the club for providing BRFCS with the season ticket information. For further details, see the official site. View full article
  3. [caption id=attachment_2418" align="alignright" width="300" caption=" Picture courtesy of cn174 ][/caption]Rovers are leading 3-0 at half-time after a superb first-half display, capped off by a wonderful and richly deserved solo strike from Junior Hoilett on the stroke of half-time.After a solid start, great work in the penalty area from Junior in the 23rd minute opened Wolves up as he laid off to Salgado, whose drive towards goal was turned in by Jason Roberts to give us a deserved lead. A stunning Brett Emerton strike from the edge of the area in the 38th minute saw Rovers extend the lead. Wolves are looking ragged and undisciplined, with captain Karl Henry walking a tightrope after a talking to from referee Howard Webb for pushing Jermaine Jones after having already picked up a yellow card. Meanwhile, Phil Jones required treatment after being on the receiving end of a very poor challenge by Stephen Hunt, who is fortunate to have escaped yellow, unlike a clearly irritated Craddock. Chris Samba picked up a yellow card for Rovers. Elsewhere, Blackpool have come back from a goal down at Old Trafford, where it is 1-1 at half-time, leaving Wolves in the relegation places and Rovers looking comfortably safe. View full article

  8. Rovers captain Christopher Samba has become the latest player to commit his long-term future by signing a contract extension which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2015. Samba had been linked with a move away from the club after an outburst in the media in which he suggested that he was not happy with the direction the club was going in after the sacking of Sam Allardyce. However, it seems that the issues he had have now been resolved and he has signed the contract extension. Samba has been a hugely important member of the first team and fans will be delighted to see him commit his future to the club. View full article

  10. New Rovers manager Steve Kean has been talking to the media today at his first press conference since he was appointed manager until the end of the season. Kean went to India this week to hold talks with the owners of the club: "The main reason for going was so I could stand up in front of the players this morning and tell them the direction the club's going in and I am delighted to say it was a very positive meeting and anything I am going to tell the lads is to look forward to. It was excellent." During his meeting with the owners, Kean was promised that there would be investment during the January transfer window: "The overall message is there is going to be investment in this transfer window." Recent speculation had suggested that players would be sold to finance activity in the January transfer window. Kean was able to allay those fears: "The players were worried we were going to have to sell players, but the chairlady says we don't have to sell anybody. Obviously, if there is anybody that doesn't want to be at the club and we get the right offer, then that is something we will consider. We don't have to sell to raise any capital, there is going to be investment to improve the squad in the areas where we are weak. Certainly, as for the emerging crop of young developing players, she does not want to sell any of those players and she wants to draw a line under that." After a week of uncertainty, rumour and speculation which has not put the club in a good light, it was great to see that new manager Steve Kean seems to have taken charge of the situation and is trying to focus the minds of the players and fans on what happens on the field. Rovers face a hectic programme of matches starting with Stoke on Boxing Day. View full article

  13. The takeover of Blackburn Rovers moved a step closer this weekend, but reports of a deal being imminent are premature according to club sources. As reported here last week, VH Group have stepped up their efforts to purchase the club, and BRFCS can confirm that reports in the national press over the weekend are correct in that there have been intensive talks over the last week involving representatives of VH Group and the Rovers. However, club sources have confirmed to BRFCS this morning that Rovers have no plans to release a press statement today. Further, they have indicated that a deal is not imminent and any potential sale could take three to four weeks to complete. Meanwhile, other bidders continue to talk to Rovers representatives. At this stage it would be wrong to rule out Ahsan Ali Syed. His representatives are still locked in talks with Rovers and have confirmed that they will update BRFCS in due course. On the pitch Rovers' indifferent start to the season continued as they crashed to a 2-1 defeat against fellow strugglers Liverpool. The defeat now leaves Rovers just out of the relegation zone on goal difference. Next up for Rovers is a rare double header of Saturday home games, with champions Chelsea first up this weekend, before Wigan visit Ewood Park the following weekend. Discuss View full article
