  1. I think that the part of it which pleased me so much, was it such a team performance. We defended well as a unit from front to back, the wingers thommo and MGP included in that. Whilst going forward the full backs got forward a decent amount and we looked a threat on the couter against a miserly everton team throughout. Hughes is really building a solid dependable team which should comfortably pick up enough points to stay up this season. Reid was very good and perhaps we have found a new role for him in centre midfield, always thought he didnt have enough pace or crossing ability to be a proper winger like emerton rolleyes.gif ! Stead scored a good goal, but was very poor before that. After the goal he looked a different player, looking to have shots on goal, holding the ball up bringing other players into the game and spreading passes around. Just shows the confidence you can take from putting the ball in the onion bag tinykit.gif

We have 3 difficult fixtures coming up and im prepared to write-off the united game as thats away. However if we play like we did against everton there i no reason why we cant take a point off L'pool and at least that off arsenal, pending which arsenal turns up of course! tinykit.gif C'mon Rovers and a great 3 points, dissapointing away support tho sad.gif

  2. Which three games do you see us winning then ?

On the basis we now have the third tightest defence in the league so 1-0 will do nicely and we have already beaten:

    Norwich H

    Portsmouth H

    Charlton H

    Bolton A

    Portsmouth A

    Fulham A

take any three wins from the following six:

    Southampton H

    Palace H

    Citeh H

    Fulham H

    Birmingham A

    West Brom A

Plus five other less likely candidates.

Incidentally, Rovers last 17 Premiership results:

    W5 D7 L5 F17 A13.

    What's your problem?

There we go, there is 1 win out of the 3 we need. How can anybody say they dont know where our next win is coming from when you consider how well we are playing at the mo!!

  3. i know you all like to pretend you wish burnley would disappear to the lancashire pie & peas league division nine but deep down you must realise that it's not just another game. look at the discussion, the excitement, even the atmosphere it created. are you seriously telling me it'd be like that against a team you didn't have respect for? against middlesboro or norwich? never in a million years.

obviously as a claret i'd love the chance to play you every season because we'd most probably be in the premier league but can you honestly say you wouldn't look forward to the last two game's between the clubs season in, season out. it's a proper rivalry. 99% of all the rest of the clubs in Britain would love a rivalry like this.

Well said i think that sums up the current situation at the mo, but anyway onto the game and firstly the atmosphere which always comes up.

I was sitting towards the middle of the jack walker upper ie the perfect situation to hear both the bbe and the dingles. To say that either end was quiet is absolute nonsense. In the first half we seemed more up for it and the atmosphere was better from brfc up to the dingle goal. From that period till about the 70min the dingles were on top. For the last 15mins till we scored it was even stevens as the bbe created the atmosphere needed for 1 last effort. The winner of course meant that 3/4 of ewood was going wild for the next 10 mins. However i dont think ive ever seen a darwen end react so explosively to when burnley scored it looked like people were jumping up and down rows!

As for the game i thought we were pretty poor, burnley were well organized defensive, but after all we're the prem team and its our job to break them down. Nerves got the better of us until MGP superb winner, it seemed to take an age for the ball to hit the net after going past the keeper biggrin.gif . Incredible at the end, i felt brilliant so satisfying.

Blackburn before and after reminded me of the pictures ive seen of Belfast from the 70's during the troubles. Tension in the air, the police on every corner as if there was a bomb scare, parts of the town centre blocked off, flashing blue lights in the distance and the constant wail of sirens. All this for football! rolleyes.gif

We are thru and that is be all and end all. Who cares about performance as the cup does that to teams, are Exceter as good as united cos they drew at OT? Course not bring on the Leicester!

Your interbred, ya Burnley scum rover.gif

  4. have we sold out?

A guy on another Rovers mb said that he rang at 6.45 and there were around 50 single seats left, so to in all sense and purposes (have i got that expression write, ive never tried to right it before biggrin.gif ) its a sell out. C'mon Rovers

  5. So what the general feeling then. Are we standing for the 90mins or are we gonna sit?

Also, message to all those in the Jack walker stand where im sitting for my first game outside the bbe. Make some bluddy noise and make ewood like its never been heard before rover.gif

  6. Just got a coupla tickets in the Jack walker upper nearest the bbe. Btw, the whole of the bbe lower is now sold out, except to obviously season ticket holders who aint got their tickets yet. Ive never been in any stand but the BBE so this will be a new experience for me. What's the atmosphere like in this stand?

  7. No dont worry about it mate, i was just interested in how many it was, a good coupla 1000 i would guess. I like stats, i suppose it comes with growing up with American parents, they kinda like stats in the states cool.gif

    Dont worry about it.

  8. So what's the plan then are we standing up for the 90mins in the Blackburn end or sitting. I guess that the riverside and Jack walker will sit anyway so just wondering if we are gonna stand or sit.

Secondly as the non season ticket part of bbe is nearly sold out, do you think its worth waiting until thurs when i guess there will be a couple of spares of season ticket holders who didnt buy a ticket, or just to get another seat anywhere asap?

  9. I watched it on tv and think that we are getting the usual crap on here. The burnley fans claiming that Rovers had no chants and were quiet and the Rovers fans claiming that Burnley only responded to rovers chants etc. In reality i thought it was pretty much even in terms of the atmophere charts (bearing in mind dingles outnumbered us 4-1). Good noise from the Longside throughout and decent variety from Rovers fans as i heard 'no nay never', 'small town in y'shire' and 'chim-chimero'.

  10. bloody hell, ticket details already, they must have guessed it would be a drab draw LOL

  11. Heard 'Small town in yorkshire' which was great fun. An incredible atmosphere all round as 3 sides of the ground stood for the 90mins. Constant noise from both sets of fans and both must take credit for their part in the most bitter derby in English football! There was no period that the ground went quiet, so its up to us to re-create that in the replay at Ewood.

  12. Delighted with the result. I would have taken anything but a Rovers defeat and we have done the hard job. Back to Ewood where we need to create a similar atmopshere to today and finish the job off. The hard work has been done and im delighted to still be in the hat. Cup football can sometimes give a shot in the back, so happy to escape with a draw.

C'mon Rovers lets do em at Ewood!! rover.gif
