  1. It sounds like he wasn't originally going to go back but unfortunately due to injuries he's being recalled. It's hard to criticise for not having a ready replacement instantly available to buy.

I'm also pleased to see that we're trying to find a way to structure the 500k deal for a unproven player to ensure our finances aren't going to bite us in the backside in the future, especially when we're constantly having one eye on the FFP line.

If we do look for another young Premier League player on loan then fortunately we've done well in the past when signing young Premier League kids with hardly any experience. Harwood-Bellis, Adarabioyo, Van Hecke, and now James Hill to add to the list of players who have learned a lot here and done well.

I see rovers bought on a 15 year old. Youngest ever player. I suspect it’s more to do with the crèche mentality than being good enough but still he’s in the history books

I think it's a mixture of things. 1) He's highly regarded. 2) It shows him and others that there is a progression from youth to first team. 3) Playing in the first team helps with any future compensation issue if a big team comes in. 4) It is a message to the board that we are desperate for players.

  3. If they need him to get a confidence boost then surely we should be making a cheeky enquiry. He knows the club, the style of play, and will play every week. Obviously, it's tough competing against Premier League teams but worth a shot. Gregg could always throw in a Duolingo 'Learn Spanish' subscription to sweeten the deal.

  4. I think he's a bit out of his depth but I also don't think I'm that surprised. He wasn't ready when he came to the club and I think JDT and co. wanted him to be 2nd choice for the season while he learned how to be a better goalkeeper. Unfortunately, Pears, despite looking fairly solid at times, hit a bad run of form, many fans were crying out for Wahlstedt, and due to Pears' injury he's been thrown into the deep end too early. It isn't that fair to criticise a player who is making mistakes that an inexperienced goalkeeper from a lower level would make. He is clearly trying but he just isn't ready and we have no one to step in who has that experience. I expect Pears will be recalled as early as possible and will remain our number 1 until the end of the season.

Szmodics is a good example of why rushing to judgement of players is not a good idea. This time last year there were many on here who were saying that we had had our trousers pulled down by Peterborough in signing him; now he is our talisman. Players should be given a fair chance to show their worth.

I'm one of them and I am so glad he's making me look stupid with every game he plays in a Rovers shirt!

Did JDT walk away from his contract at Malmo or leave at the end of his contract?

I don't know, but it might give an indication of what he may do at Rovers

Not 100% sure but Malmo's Sporting Director said "Jon has announced that he wants to leave MFF and after discussions we have decided by mutual agreement to part ways.". There may have been a 2yr contract with an option to extend or maybe he left before the end of his contract if it was decided by mutual agreement.

What I take from that is JDT is not happy with the situation, but never says he is leaving. Why would he leave a well paid prestigious job, for unemployment ? Some people liken JDTs position to Lamberts, look what happened to Lambert after he left us.

If you can leave a 2 time Championship winning team (Malmo) for unemployment then you can easily leave a mid-table, financial threatened team.

Do I think he should? No. He is part of this team. He signed the contract and he needs to knuckle down and get on with it. If he isn't giving 100% then the team wont. I do, however, think he will give everything and hope we, the club, can turn it around and really back him.

  8. Does anyone else think RoversTV needs more content or perhaps an overhaul?

The interviews are great between the presenter and the team but you get the same regurgitated content in the local papers and online so it doesn't feel like you're getting extra content.

Other clubs are showing friendlies, lots of pre-season content - whether serious or fun. I saw during the season other clubs do pre-game and post game chat, yet we have a few interviews and no friendly highlights whatsoever. Even during the season the highlight package is just a replay of the entire game. I used to quite enjoy the 10-15 minute extended highlights of each game which showed a bit more action than the goals shown on TV.

It would be great if you could watch pre-season games, academy games, or even archived games from many years ago. I'm sure other fans have a lot more ideas too.

Do you subscribe and what are your thoughts?

Made all the sweeter by the fact that the media and everybody else had already given the trophy to Spurs before a ball had been kicked.

To be fair, I think a lot of us fans were also slightly convinced it could be a very tough game. We were on an awful run of form where we had lost 4 in a row + injuries and suspensions. Just made the day even sweeter that the team came together and got a great result.
