  1. So he chases down a lost cause that will result in nothing for Rovers because the fans want him to. O'Shea makes a simple pass and completely takes Yorke out of the game when we are down to ten men and need to defend from the front.

    Yeah good point Tom blink.gifunsure.gif

Like Dickov did in the 1st half when Howard's clearance nearly gave us a goal, you mean?

    Yeah, good point Jonny blink.gifunsure.gif

  2. Can anyone tell me more about Gally's injury??

Thought we were excellent in central defence today, they dealt with every cross United threw in there, and there was no mistakes like on Arsenal's second goal against us. When a cross came to Smith, Amoruso was there to dive in and deflect the header outside the post. Really pleased to see that, because that's a must-have against a team with such good wingers.

Neill and Matteo did OK too, I'm still unpleased with Matteo's passing skills though.. In central midfield we worked hard, and even though I miss Tugay's amazing passes (like the one for Cole's goal against Fulham) I know we can't expect those to come every game..smile.gif

Barry was solid today, he's a leader and is clearly so important for the team. Would like to see even more of his attacking runs, but hopefully they will be more visible against other teams than United and Arsenal.

Morten was not good today, but as mentioned he didn't make a fool of himself, he was just invisible. He needs some tactical training though, he struggled to figure out how to defend properly. I'm sure he'll come good..

Emerton was very good, he put in a 100 percent effort and that's really what we can demand from him. He made a few brilliant runs down the right side, fantastic job on that good chance Gamst got to make it 2-0.

Dickov was also very lively, as usual, I really start to love his style of play. He works so incredibly hard, and his goal was very good ! I just love seeing him pull Neville's leg like he did, poor Moustache-Gary was left furious after every duel.. tongue.gif

Steady played another good game today, he's really established himself as a solid Prem striker, the goals is the only thing missing now !

    Yorke? Get rid.

I thought he was back to show some old qualities, but when he comes on without working to win the ball after playing just 15 minutes - you wonder why the hell Dickov and Stead came off.

    B r i n g b a c k G a l l y ! !

EDIT: Forgot to mention Big Brad, one word is enough:

    B r i l l i a n t ! !

  3. laugh.gif Great post 6...

Agree on Yorke btw, he had me fooled for a few weeks, but now he's back to his old lazy self. Gally in, please!

Gamst will come good, but needs time.

  4. Gally is at least in the squad for tomorrow's game, alongside Gamst Pedersen and Ferguson.

Let's hope Souey can put his differences (if he has any..) aside with Gally and put him on instead of Yorke - who did nothing to secure his place against Arsenal.

  5. laugh.gif Exactly.. oh well! rolleyes.gif

    You text him then! wink.gif

EDIT: Just remembered that I insulted Gary Neville's moustache in my message aswell, since he's a United-fan it's probably for the best that he doesn't see the message.. wink.gif

  6. Hmh, liked the last one better Alan.. wink.gif

Just sent a text message to a Morten Gamst Pedersen from Tromsø (checked the internet phonecatalogue and found a number) asking whether he's ready or not ! laugh.gif

    If I get a response (highly likely isn't it? tongue.gif ) I'll put it out here.. rover.gif

  7. Rumours is, JW and Souey has taken him out for a pint or twelve at Fox&Hounds, they'll fix the transfer stuff tomorrow! wink.gif

But seriously, doesn't the club have to register him before 5 o'clock tonight to have him ready for United?

That's... erm... four hours ago in England?

  8. Sorry vyeo, just getting tired of two things:

    1) That TERRIBLE "he'll probably play keeper under Souness laugh.giflaugh.giftongue.gif "-joke! mad.gif

    2) Reports about thing that happened three days ago - I live in Norway and read Norwegian news, so I'm pretty used to that. (well, with Gamst they are pretty quick, but with everything else they've either got wrong information or is three weeks late at best.)

I for one don't think that Gamst will need a lot of time to get used to the tempo and the quality of the Premiership. I think he's the kind of player that really can get himself to a new level quickly, and he's also playing well at international level already. What MIGHT become a problem is playing the whole season though, since he's already played 18 matches here in Norway. But hopefully De Pedro can get some matches under his belt aswell, then we'll have 2-3 good left wingers!

BUT, as Krislu says, he's young and has not been the most consistant player away from home. But since we're terrible at home, he'll fit right in! wink.gif

  9. Come on, stop being so naive !

TROMSØ OFFICIALS were in London yesterday to discuss terms, MGP is in Manchester to pass his medical and discuss personal terms!

Get it people? Tromsø officials = London ! Gamst Pedersen = Manchester.

  10. Fabregas was clearly the goalscorer on the 2-0 goal, he tapped it in with his knee from Gilberto's header.

Can't understand how some of you can say that Emerton was shockingly bad today, that's probably the worst thing I've heard all week. (and I've heard that Fulham has captured Gamst ! laugh.gif )

Also, Krislu, who played out of position today?

Matteo? Okay, fair enough, but he HAS played there before and done a job defensively at least - I'm sure he won't play against United !

And Gresko played left wing, not centre midfield! That was just to fit De Pedro in the last few minutes... Gresko did ok btw, helped to keep Pennant out of the game, and also Lauren's attacking possibilities were very limited.

EDIT: It was Gresko standing on the line on Fabregas' goal I think...

Also, I don't agree with you on the lack of creativity, Alan, the first half we created some good chances and in the second half we were basically overplayed by the fantastic Arsenal. We could need a more creative soul in the middle of the field, but getting Fergie back will help, I think. Also, Gresko played left wing mostly to help defensively if you ask me, which he did nicely. Getting Gamst or De Pedro in there will boost our creativity!

  11. This just in: Fulham have contacted Tromsø with a bid of £2.5 million, and are now in talks with Pedersen.

    F U, Philly, that's bullshit ! laugh.gif

I would (And have) pay(ed) almost ten times as much to go there from Sweden if I had the money and no school tomorrow, and according to you you're the real fan here....

    Same here, mate! cool.gif

That joke is so overused biggrin.gif

Glad to see I'm not the only one sick of that joke.. wink.gif

  12. ...Emerton was decent IMO but he should cross earlier...

He just can't win, now can he?

People has been nagging 24/7 about him not challenging one-on-one from midfield, and when he does his crosses doesn't come early enough?

I thought Emerton had a great 1st half for Rovers, he really used his pace and was the main man behind most of our attacking chances before half time.

Agree about Matteo though, he's a HOPELESS distributor and looked very uncomfortable with the ball in his feet. Tugay wasn't lucky today either, agree with you Lathund about him pushing further up the pitch.

De Pedro sure showed his left foot the few minutes he was on, what a player! Didn't do anything special, but man that left foot of his looks neat..

Friedel looked back to his former self today aswell, good to see him make some saves again. Nissa and Short were good defensively most of the game, but we need to do something about our defence on set pieces!

I still would like to get Amo back... Nice runs from Short though! wink.gif

But get Gamst Pedersen in at left wing, get Ferguson back at centre midfield and Matteo either down to CB or to the bench - and we DO have a chance against the next two teams.

Yorke was also VERY tame today, if that's all he can come up with we'd be better off having Gally on the bench, or Jansen for that matter.. Both Dickov and Stead, perhaps especially Dickov, put a lot of effort in this game. Stead has got some qualities we really need up there, in terms of pace, technique and flair - and Dickov is really the busy little wasp, I love that guy ! rover.gif He really is GREAT with his back against the defenders and is really great at pissing people off without getting booked. Only thing that annoys me about him is the bitching to the referees, it's a bit unnecessary..

But no need to mourn about this game lads, Arsenal is one of the top three teams in the world right now and any team will lose 3-0 against them with the players they've got. And who knows, if Short or Dickov had scored in the 1st half.... rolleyes.giftinykit.gif

EDIT: Duffer had no row with Souness, Krislu !

  13. Rovers.co.uk:

ARSENAL: Lehmann, Lauren, Toure, Cygan, Cole, Pires, Fabregas, Gilberto, Pennant, Bergkamp, Henry. Subs: Ljungberg, Reyes, Flamini, Almunia, Hoyte.

ROV ERS: Friedel, Neill, Short, Johansson, Gray, Emerton, Tugay, Matteo, Gresko, Stead, Dickov. Subs: Amoruso, Flitcroft, De Pedro, Enckelman, Yorke

    As expected IMO..

  14. The news on TIL.no basically says that their representants were met with open arms from Rovers, and that the deal will, if every clauses and stuff is to be paid out, in total be worth 31 millions NKR - around 2,5 million pounds.

In that, there is a sell-on percent, and a part where TIL gets more money the better Gamst does his things for Rovers.
